Are you looking at your closet every day and thinking that you are over your summer clothes? Running out of cute summer outfit ideas or stumped on what to wear to brunch, date night or anything else? Although August is almost here, summer isn’t going anywhere for at least a few more weeks so this is when you need some TSS approved styling tips to make all those summer pieces feel fresh and new again; especially those summer dresses. Honestly, when the weather starts to climb (I mean THIRTY-EIGHT DEGREES…) all I can get myself to wear is a dress so I’ve picked up a lot of fun tips on how to make the same dress feel new over and over again, for lots of different occasions.

1. Add a belt.
Guys, could this be my answer to everything? I hear you, my dear reader, Shloka is obsessed with adding belts to things! I promise, I’m not running out of ideas, I just can’t stress this one tip enough. Accessories can change everything and a good waist belt on a dress makes it go from a regular girl next door to a total luxe look. If you don’t have a good waist belt, you can even use one of your favourite summer scarfs as a belt! Get creative!

2. Touches of Colour
If your dress is black or white, add a touch of colour. This could be with a fun headband you may have, a beautiful scarf that you tie in your hair, or even with a pair of coloured shoes. It’s all about mixing and matching your wardrobe! If your favourite dress is a colour, why not try working in other shades of the same colour into your look OR you can be really bold and colour block. Think of pairing your blue dress with red or orange accessories!

3. Swap the shoes
Two types of shoes can change the look and feel of your dress. If you’re styling the dress for the day, swap your flats out for sneakers. Dresses and sneakers are the ultimate street style combination. Looking to make it a bit more elegant? Pair your favourite dress with a pair of kitten heels. They are comfortable, but still give you the class and elegance of a pair of heels!

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but a heatwave is coming and it’s about to hit the streets of London! So although the magazines are talking about fall/winter fashion trends, it’s still summer (very much so still summer!) and I’m all about helping you come up with the perfect summer outfit to beat the heat!

When the sun is sweltering down on you it may seem like your only option is your favourite denim beach shorts or a plain white t-shirt but I’ve put together three style tips to help you pull together the perfect look for any summer day:

1. Elevate your Basics
A white top and blue jeans is a go-to outfit combination for a reason but you can always elevate this standard outfit formula by upgrading your white top! I found this beautiful white blouse on Pinterest and was very fortunately gifted it by the awesome company that makes it; Fash Focused! The fun bow details make this top different and instantly make my outfit cooler

2. Change up your hairstyle
Pearl hair clips, Hair barrettes headbands and more are all a massive trend for this year. Change up your whole look with a small new accessory that will keep your outfit on trend for months to come! See below where I’ve linked some great pieces!

3. Pull Opposites Together
I find that the quickest way to create a cool outfit is to mix a very masculine piece and a very feminine piece. It’s one of my most used styling tricks. This top with the bows is extremely feminine but pairing it with straight cut jeans or denim shorts immediately makes it cooler!

It’s that time of year when all we want to wear is a gorgeous summer dress that makes us look and feel amazing. With your inbox full of summer weddings to attend and your calender filled with upcoming holidays, parties and events, you need the right summer dress to get you ready for it all! Today I’ve highlighted a selection of summer midi and maxi dresses that are perfect summer wedding guest outfits, but also perfect for any other plans you might have this summer. The dress I’m wearing is a Zara piece. I love the halter tie neck, which makes it the perfect summer dress to wear in the day, but also a great going out dress! It can be dressed up or down. I paired it with some colourful summer sandals and my Amelia x Skinny Dip pearl hoops (gifted). I believe that these have been recently restocked after being sold out almost immediately post-launch! Make sure you grab a pair before they are all gone!

One of the most controversial fashion trends for summer 2019 is the return of chunky sandals. Call them what you will, sandals, dad sandals or “dandals”, they are back to add a bit of fun to your casual summer outfit. From Chanel sandals to River Island, there’s a pair for everyone but most of you have messaged me saying you don’t actually know HOW to wear them! So, if you’re looking to update your cute weekend outfit and add in a pair of chunky summer sandals, then here are three tips to get you there:

1. Ditch the jeans, pair your sandals with…
Skirts or shorts! Sandals like these can have a bit of a masculine feel to them so styling them with feminine pieces like maxi skirts, flowy dresses and shorts makes them way more wearable and stylish.

2. Keep your accessories ladylike
When going for SUCH a casual pair of shoes, try to elevate your outfit by keeping your other accessories elegant. Think top handle bags, gold jewellery and elegant sunglasses! Those sandals will be way cooler than when your dad wore them.

3. Take them everywhere…
The best part of chunky sandals is that they can work anywhere! Don’t abandon them on your next summer vacation because they pair perfectly with your favourite bikinis and swimsuits! Otherwise, wear them to brunch with some chic trousers and a t-shirt for a simple yet cool look!

Where To Find The Coolest Hair Accessories Around

From pearl hair clips to slogan hair clips and knot headbands to jeweled headbands, hair accessories are having a serious moment right now. With everyone trying to get their hands on the coolest pieces out there, it can sometimes feel overwhelming when trying to figure out where to look for that specific piece. That’s where I come in; it’s safe to say that I’m a hair accessory fanatic and have been for a long time now. I have broken down for you where to get all those key pieces that you’ve been looking for at every budget. Get shopping before they all run out, some of these are serious hidden treasures!

HEADBANDS

For as long as I can remember I have worn headbands. From my days as a toddler all the way into adulthood, I have collected headbands. For padded Alice bands or jewelled headbands or even a simple knot headband, there is a whole range of places to look. If you prefer to go try them on in store, I recommend going to Fenwick on Bond Street for their amazing hair accessory selection. If you’re happy to shop online check out some of these stores;

Grand Bloom Store (Etsy)
Etsy is such a treasure chest of amazing items, especially when it comes to cute accessories. I love Grand Bloom for their headband selection, including this fabulous braided headband and their entire selection of padded ones.

Never Not Retro
Another incredible Etsy find, this store has the most beautiful headbands, personalised bows and earrings. They are branching out into accessories and you’ll notice that a lot of your favourite influencers actually shop here!

Jennifer Behr
Jennifer Behr is a blogger and celeb favourite and my wishlist is full of her amazing pieces. Granted it’s a bit pricey, if you have the opportunity to get one of her special pieces I would. If not though, check out any of the Etsy stores I’ve listed in this post and you will find a super similar alternative.

Lele Sadoughie
Just like Jennifer Behr, her items are a little pricey but are worth it! If not, my Etsy favourites have super similar pieces so you can still get that luxe look.

Sometimes the easiest summer outfit ideas are the coolest too and more often than not I find myself reaching for jeans and a t shirt, especially when I’m in a rush. I’m sure that a lot of you are the same, right? Often I get asked how to style jeans, especially in the summer and still create a lust worth outfit that screams stylish. Although it may seem like your favourite white t shirt and jeans isn’t “dressy” enough, it’s actually the perfect summer outfit. All you need to do to dress up this outfit combination is to use these three simple styling tricks.

1. Add Colour
I always find that adding a pop of colour can change an entire outfit. Swap your favourite white t shirt for a pink one like I did, or literally any other colour. The other day I wore this exact outfit but with a grey t-shirt and I got so many compliments.

2. Hair Statements
We all know that hair accessories are super hot right now and they don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Add in a statement hair band or some cute hair clips to really dress up your look.

3. Shoes To Talk About
I always say that accessories are worth investing in, and that means shoes! I love when you take a super simple outfit and add a really fun accessory to it. Shoes are a great conversation starter so opt for something fun and colourful. Dress up the look with some serious statement heels!
