THE FAUX LEATHER COAT

Leather is a massive fall-winter trend for 2019 and I’m seeing a massive movement towards faux leather pieces. Vinyl or smooth, it’s totally up to you (remember my vinyl coat from fashion week?) but this is the perfect choice for someone who is either a minimalist at heart or want’s something classic and easy to throw on every day that always looks stylish. Trust me it’s timeless.

THE PLAID COAT

Looking for something other than the usual black/white/grey coat? Why not try a pattern instead? A tad more adventurous than your regular plain version, a pattern like plaid can bring a lot off life into your everyday look! It’s a classic print so you know you can’t go wrong!

THE CAPE

One of the biggest winter coat trends for 2019 isn’t even a coat at all! It’s a cape! There is something super regal about a beautiful cape. You can opt for short or long, but either way, you know you’ll look stunning in it no matter where you go. This is perfect for the classy fashionista. The extra perk? It even looks great when you wear it to the office.

THE COLOURFUL COAT

Are you feeling totally out there? Really bored of anything classic? Then throw all the rules out the window and go bold or go home! That’s right, I’m talking about colour. Bright pink seems to be ruling the fashion crowd right now and it’s here to stay to bring a dose of happy to any gloomy day. Here are some of my favourite colourful picks:

How To Master The Necklace Layering Trend

LAYER IN GOLD

I’ve always been a serial jewellery stacker and one of my favourite things to layer are necklaces. Here are my pro tips to get that blogger look.

For as long as I can remember, layering jewellery has always been something I did a lot off. My mother would constantly urge me to take at least one piece off but I refused; more is more was my motto. Over the years I’ve refined my skills and it’s safe to say that when it comes to accessorising with jewellery, I’ve got it down and now so can you. So if you want to get that ultimate cool-girl look (Ahh like Aimee Song – I used to study Song of Style’s necklace game!) here are three tips to layering right.

Image via Pinterest

MIX IT UP

The key to layering necklaces well is mixing up the variety of pieces. Don’t go for only dainty or only chunky pieces. Instead, mix it up! I always like to pair a few of my dainty pendant pieces with at least one chunkier one. Pro Tip: You can even bring in something different like a strand of pearls with all your gold chains.

Image via Pinterest

ADD PERSONALITY

Nothing in fashion is fun unless you put a bit of yourself in it. Try to bring in a piece of your personality into your stack. This could be with your initials, your zodiac sign or any other charm that means a lot to you. With me, you’ll see I wear my birthstone a lot, my zodiac (I’m an Aries!) and my initials.

MIX METALS

I know a lot of people are hesitant about mixing gold and silver but I always break that rule. Mix metals together to create a more effortless feel to your necklace layers. It looks a little less thought out which makes it that much cooler! You can even throw in little touches of colour for an extra dose of something special.

3 Beauty Tricks I Learned Backstage at Fashion Week

BACKSTAGE SECRETS

The best backstage secrets I learned from some of the best makeup artists at fashion week.

What we see at fashion week is the super runways, the amazing collections that come down them and the fashion elite serving up street style look after street style look (I managed to get some looks in this year as well! See what I wore here) but the real magic happens backstage. A huge part of any collection is the makeup look that goes behind it. Fashion month is all about the coolest beauty looks and nails as well and this season I got to go behind the scenes at some of the most talked-about shows at LFW.

Along the way, I learned a lot about how these talented makeup artists get our favourite models looking the way they do. Here are the top three lessons I learned as well as the products I saw at almost every show.

LESS IS MORE

I’m sure you’ve heard it before but there is major truth in the statement, less is more. For most of the shows that I was at, artists were taking a big step away from over contouring and instead were focused on creating a natural look that highlighted the best of the model’s features. There was minimal use of bronzer or blush and instead I saw a lot of BB cream, concealer and highlighter.

Spotted: Almost every single show I went to, I saw every artist use the NARS Radiant Concealer. It is fashion week approved AND Shloka approved. I also noticed that the manicures were clean. At Erdem I spotted my favourite Essie shade ever: Not Just A Pretty Face

A BOLD LIP IS ALL YOU NEED

Bold lips were huge this season at almost every single show. Models were minimal eye make up and instead rocked beautiful shades of red. This is something that I have been enjoying a lot as well and a few of my favourite shades recently have been two shades from NARS and one from Code 8 Beauty, which was created as a limited edition for fashion week. I have linked to them below.

SKINCARE IS AS IMPORTANT

Good makeup starts with good skin and I noticed every single artist started with a good base of moisturiser. One brand that popped up everywhere I went was Avene. As you know I am a huge fan of Avene and I was excited to see a fashion week seal of approval for the brand as well. Another favourite is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream which I use as well as a base instead of a primer to make my skin super glowy!

It’s safe to say that autumn has officially arrived and that means it’s the season for layering, plaid and a sense of NEW! Personally, autumn has always been one of my favourite seasons when it comes to fashion. There is so much room for you to have fun with styling, layering and trying out new things without feeling too hot or shivering in the extreme cold. Of course, that means you want to wear all the latest fall/winter fashion trends, but you don’t want to break the bank while you do it right? I always believe that it’s worth investing your money in pieces that will last you for season on season, but when it comes to these little wardrobe updates I always look to the high street.

There are those pieces which are clearly high street, but then there are THOSE pieces that are high street but look so luxe everyone thinks you went on a Net-A-Porter binge! Those are the pieces to look for those are the pieces I have found for you. Here are my top 10 luxe-looking high street pieces, in my cart right now.

The Perfect Cardigan

An essential layering piece, the cardigan is a must-have for your fall wardrobe. You don’t need to spend a ton to get one with just the perfect fit. I’ve found one for you that I already have in my wardrobe and am about to get it in another colour.

The Puff Sleeve Piece

Puff sleeves, or rather any shoulder detail, are a huge trend for fall-winter fashion. This puff sleeve dress is sleek and elegant. Pair with ankle boots or even thigh-high boots for an ultra-cool look. Something about it is very vintage Chanel.

The Headband

Those puffy Alice bands are very much here to stay. If you aren’t feeling a super colourful one from Prada, try this high street version instead in a more understated black.

The Square Toed Boots

Square toed shoes are another massive trend for fall (You know I’m talking abouut THOSE Botega heels). Don’t worry, it’s not a totally unwearable trend, especially if you decide to go down the classic route like with these black ankle boots. You’ll be wearing them every day.

The Boiler Suit

Boiler suits are a favourite for fall because of how easy they are to style and feel good in. I love the acid wash of this one which makes it look so much more luxe! A total win. Pair with a chich waist belt and some stilettos to upgrade the look.

Knit Dresses

The ribbed knit dress was an Instagram sensation last season and I predict it will be back before you can say pumpkin spiced latte. This one is the perfect colour and the perfect fit. Wear it with some gold earrings, a gold chain-link necklace and some ankle boots. Complete the vibe with a leather jacket.

The Plaid Blazer

One thing I always notice with luxury pieces is that they always are classics with a twist. This high street plaid blazer is exactly that. It’s a classic plaid blazer with a super chic twist. Grab it before it’s gone!

Statement Dresses

The best part about autumn (or fall, whatever you choose to call it!) is that you can still wear lots of fun dresses, including that bold pattern piece. This one is perfect to pair with leather boots and some big bold sunglasses.

The Plaid Skirt

I love a good plaid skirt but finding one that looks super luxe on the high street can be tough. I love this one because of the retro colour combination and belt detailing. It’s very Blair Waldorf on the Upper East Side!

LONDON FASHION WEEK

It’s that time of year again; it’s london fashion week and it’s time for all my street style looks and more!

Another September and that means it’s time for another fashion month. As the fashion crowd came in from New York to my home city of London, I got geared up for another round of backstage moments, inspiring runway shows and a whole dose of street style. London Fashion Week 2019 has probably been my favourite season to date and I’m trying to manifest that every season only gets better and better. Here is what I saw, wore and did this season!

LOOK ONE FOR 16 ARLINGTON

I kicked off my LFW with the 16 Arlington presentation, or rather should I say party? The collection featured feathered looks and glitter to keep you partying all the way through to 2021. So much so that much of the audience was dancing with the models at 11 AM. Why not right?
I kept my look casual and comfortable with a utility-style jumpsuit. I styled this fairly masculine piece with my favourite satin lace-up Gianvito Rossi heels. I’ve never been one for an extreme “street” vibe so trust me to add a touch of intense femininity to a look like this.

LOOK TWO FOR DAVID KOMA & EMILIA WICKSTEAD

I started my next day at the David Koma show where I had the chance to go backstage and see the beauty look created by Code 8. They created a very special lipstick for the show that is a stunning nude. Following this I made my way to Emilia Wickstead; a very different show with a very different vibe. While David Koma was sleek and modern, Emilia Wickstead was inspired by Little Women. Oversized dresses, gingham picnic and feminine colours brought the Victorian ages into 2019. It was magical.

I wore a houndstooth blazer from Zara with houndstooth Sandro shorts. I paired my Dior belt with the ensemble and a matching Zara headband to bring the look together.

LOOK THREE FOR ERDEM

Possibly my favourite look and favourite show of the season, it was a dream come true to be able to attend the Erdem show. I first went backstage with my favourite nail polish brand, Essie. The models were all wearing one of my favourite colours “Not Just A Pretty Face” and the entire collection had this retro Italian vibe to it. I have my eye on the beautiful suits and the show-stopping dresses. The model’s braid with the bows at the back is a hairstyle I can’t wait to try.
For this show I wore a green vinyl trench coat with not one, but TWO headbands.
