A few weeks ago, Farfetch asked me to share a woman who had inspired me. To celebrate International Woman’s Day, I decided to share how Audrey Hepburn has inspired not only my style but my confidence. I remember I watched Roman Holiday with my parents and was immediately enamoured by Audrey. Through the years, I delved further into her chic style but also into her life. If there was ever a woman who showed you that you could have it all, she was it. I share more about this in my interview with Farfetch, which you can read here.
I loved the way Audrey styled gingham, a pattern that I also adore. I knew I had to incorporate it into my style. She was also the queen of monochrome dressing, so, of course, I kept my look black and white. Add a pair of movie star glasses, and I felt as glamorous as she was.
It would be crazy for me to write this post about a woman who inspired me without addressing what has happened in the world this week. We started the week celebrating women worldwide, which was quickly followed by the unfortunate and heartbreaking news of Sarah Everard in the UK. Most recently, I’ve been shocked and horrified by the attack on 8 Asian American women in Atlanta. This has really highlighted for me how it’s not just about taking style inspiration from the women I look up to, but strength and courage as well. Call out your friends and family, educate yourself and others, and most important speak up, because we are all strong women, and we are in this together.
