Here are all my tips to always being a stylish traveler and nailing the perfect airport outfit!

I’m kicking off my travels for the year and if you’ve kept up with my Instagram you will know exactly where I’m going! Something a lot of you ask me is what to wear to the airport and I think that this is an occasion where you can be stylish and comfortable (in fact, it’s a must!) The perfect airport outfit is one that makes you feel comfortable but also effortless. Here are my three tips when creating the perfect travel look:
1. Sneakers all the way
When travelling for a long haul flight, don’t overthink it. Stick to your sneakers! Sneakers look cool and are easy to get on and off especially during security. I travel in my Adidas NMD’s because they are by far my most comfy pair of sneakers!
2. Comfort can also be stylish
I always travel in track pants when I’m taking a flight that is any longer than an hour. I know that sometimes people think track pants look quite frumpy, but its all about finding the right pair. I found this INCREDIBLY soft pair from Topshop that is high waisted and looks so cool. The light colour immediately makes it look more chic.
3. Layer up!
I always feel super cold on planes so I pay particular attention to my layers. I like to add some colour to my outfit which I did with my jacket. I love that this jacket is comfortable yet colourful which makes my entire airport outfit look so cute right? It’s also an easy layer to take off if I feel too hot or snuggle up with if I feel cold!

Here are all the luxe looking accessories that are under £50 that are in trend for spring summer 2019!
I love sharing my luxury accessories with you all especially because you guys are all so interested in them and have such an appreciation for fashion just like me. But what I love about fashion is that you don’t always need to spend a ton to be able to get a luxe look. In fact, some of the trending accessories of the season can all be found for under £50 while still making you look more expensive (think hair accessories, like diamante hair clips!). My three favourites of the season are hands down, hair accessories like large hair clips and headbands, shell jewellery and uber strappy sandals.
One of the easiest ways to make your outfit look more expensive is to add in a hair accessory. One scroll through your Instagram and you’ll know that hair clips are all the rage. Channel your inner Blair Waldorf and add one of these gorgeous pieces to your outfit. If you’re feeling extra daring you’ll rock more than one at a time!
Fair warning, you’re going to see a lot of shell jewellery on The Silk Sneaker in the coming months. It is such an easy and fun way to get a summer feel for your outfit without having to spend a ton, especially because a lot of high-end brands like Etro are putting it on the runway too. Put the boots away and grab your strappiest sandals around. The concept behind this luxe-looking trend is to have shoes that are “barely there” – there’s something really chic about it right? There are a lot of gorgeous designer pairs out there but there are also some awesome high street versions out there too. A few of these are over £50 but they are all under £100 so still good quality and affordable.

I feel like as we approach spring, we are already planning our summer outfits and one of my summer wardrobe staples is denim shorts, especially white denim shorts! White denim is one of my favourite things to incorporate into any spring or summer outfit, it makes for the perfect casual look for brunch or the weekend! With my outfit today I wanted to share a different way to style a pair of white denim shorts.
I feel like when most people think of denim shorts, they think of something incredibly casual but my outfit today proves (I hope!) that you can really dress up your denim to look chicer. I paired my white shorts with a beautiful beige spring blazer and my Eiffel Tower t-shirt. I felt like something about this look was very equestrian so I added in my (or rather our!) favourite riding boots to complete the look. It all came together with my Montunas crossbody bag.
PS: This is as close as I will get to bicycle shorts hah.

I was walking around Notting Hill with Alise the other day and we were so excited to see all the beautiful flowers blooming and the rows of magnolia trees. What made me even more excited, was that it’s finally time to start thinking about spring and summer dresses! This year, I am really feeling midi and maxi dresses, especially in linen and tie-dye! That really works for me because tie-dye also happens to be one of the biggest spring summer fashion trends for 2019.
For this summer dress outfit, I styled my tie-dye maxi dress with a light utility jacket, both from Zara. I love the mix of the pastel colours of the dress with the khaki of my spring jacket. For another pop of colour, I added in a little neck scarf. I get a lot of questions about this one. It’s from Dior and it has an S on it (for Shloka obviously, but I seem to get a lot of emails saying “Dear Silky”. Is that worse than Dear The Silk Sneaker?) They still have many available in every letter!
Accessories wise, I kept it simple with one of my favourite pairs of flats; my Malone Souliers pink flats. My favourite part of the outfit has to be my sunglasses chain! I know that sunglasses chain are still a micro-trend and not everyone has gained the courage to wear them, but I hope that all the times I’ve featured them and plan to feature them show you guys how versatile and how cool they are! I always struggle when asked what my favourite jewellery pieces to wear are, but one thing I always gravitate towards is statement earrings. I personally wear a lot of gold jewellery and a lot of my statement gold earrings get me so many compliments! As the weather is getting brighter and we start to think about summer dresses and summer parties, it’s also time to start thinking about the best jewellery pieces to pull your outfit together.

Tortoise shell is another personal favourite of mine. I wear my tortoise shell earrings on repeat and resin is so timeless so you know you are not bound to a trend if you buy any of these pairs.

With the arrival of spring, I’ve noticed that everyone is pulling out their favourite pastels and floral pieces. For a lot of us that means finally adding white back into our wardrobe (although I am a huge fan of winter whites and neutrals!) One of the questions you guys have been asking me is how to wear white in the spring, in a fresh new way? If you’re looking for something different than the usual white top white jeans outfit, then this is the perfect cute spring outfit for you!
I love the idea of wearing all white, but I think it’s important to break it up with accessories and contrasts. For my look, I layered a white blazer on top of a pastel t shirt. To really make the look more elegant, I put my Dior D waist belt over. This is an easy way to make your blazer outfit look more stylish. I then chose to wear my favourite pleated white skirt. I love the dramatic effect the outfit has when I add in this skirt, especially when I’m walking (or spinning in my case!) If you wanted to dress this look down, you could swap the skirt for a shorter white mini, white jeans or even white denim shorts! The options are endless!
The key thing to remember when wearing white this spring is to try and add in pops of colour, even if that means a black belt and brown sunglasses. This just makes your outfit stand out more, in the best way possible!

It’s officially time to find the perfect nude lipstick for your skin tone!
After the amazing response, I received from you all about my post on the best red lipsticks for brown girls everywhere, I knew I had to do another one. One of the most requested shades was how to find the best nude shades for our skin tone. Much like finding the perfect red shade, finding the best nude lipstick can be a challenge as well. Sometimes it’s too light, sometimes it’s too dark right? I’ve trialled a lot of different shades to find the best nude lipstick for brown skin tones. The criteria are the same; how well does it suit my skin tone and girls similar to me? Have I bought the colour again? Have I received compliments on it? With that in mind, these are my five favourite nude lipsticks.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I know that in India skin tone is a big deal and there is a lot of emphasis on being “fair”. I know that this is an issue in other countries as well. I just wanted to take a moment to point out that colour does not define beauty. You could be any shade on the spectrum and still be beautiful. I don’t believe that being fairer or darker makes you more beautiful and I don’t think there is anything wrong with the colour that you are now. Embrace it and don’t ever forget you are gorgeous, no matter what colour you are!
I’m a huge fan of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. She has an amazing range and when you find a shade that works for you, you tend to go back to it. Very Victoria is one such shade. I love this one because I wear it on a regular basis on its own but I also use it over darker shades to make them lighter and more suited to my skin.

Yes, my collection of Nars lip pencils is extensive but that really is because they are so good especially for brown skin tones! Biscayne Park is the kind of colour that suits you no matter where you fall on the spectrum. My mother is quite a few shades lighter than me and she wears this too! It’s super flattering but it is on the lighter side so if you’re looking for a light nude, this is the one!

You can never go wrong with Chanel, especially because their colours are so long wear. I love that this lipstick will last me for the whole day so whenever I wear it, I never have to worry about it. This one is truly a nude shade! Again, this is an easy, drop in your bag and use it on repeat kind of shade. Doesn’t require a lot of thought so if you’re looking for your first ever nude, try this one.

My favourite part about this particular lipstick from Tom Ford is that it is lipstick on one side and a pencil on the other. This nude is more on the brown side with a tint of orange in it which makes it really beautiful to wear in the summer. I love that it has a bit more of a glossy finish rather than matte as well.

As much as I am a London girl at heart, I cannot deny that I always strive to dress like a Parisian. There is something about Paris street style that just oozes a level of cool and effortless. In many ways, it is exactly what I mean when I describe my style as “laid-back luxury”. After analysing all the street style photos from Paris Fashion Week I felt so inspired to take my Parisian style onto the streets of London and share with you a few tips on how to dress Parisian when you aren’t in Paris, with my latest spring outfit.
Of course, when a lot of girls think Paris, they think a chic blazer, cool jeans, block heels and a t-shirt. As much as that is my go to combination for a normal day, I wanted to channel the girlier styles that we see coming out of our favourite French city. Parisian women ooze confidence in everything they wear, and they always have something about their outfit that is a little extra special; it’s about that attention to detail. I brought that into my outfit with my favourite pink backless jumper. I love anything with a back detail and so does a Parisian!
French women also pay attention to their accessories and in this case, I paid special attention to my shoes. You will remember these kitten heels that I bought last year around my birthday and they are still one of my favourite pairs. I love that you can change the strap to suit any outfit. Of course, I had to add in a headband as well!
Lastly, Parisian women are no fuss femininity. Their outfits are not over thought out or overdone, they just go together. This outfit just went together for me. I felt comfortable and confident in my high waisted trousers and I think that showed in the confidence I felt while I was wearing this look!
