For as long as I can remember I’ve had an obsession with blazers. We used to travel to London when I had holidays from school and my first purchase was always a new blazer of a different colour. My mum would always ask me, “how many blazers can you possibly have?” I think she thought I would eventually grow out of this but guess what? Sorry Mom, I haven’t. Now a lot of you have to wear blazers to the office during the workweek so it becomes the last thing you want to look at during the weekend. Today I’m challenging you to think differently because your blazer could actually be the key to creating a super chic weekend look.

In the summer, it’s all about using your blazer to dress up a casual weekend outfit, while dressing down a formal piece. I like to do it by pairing my super structured piece with very loose, easy going and flowy ones. I paired my white Sandro blazer with a flowing skirt from Storets and a silky white cami. I love this all white look and the two different fits work really well together. The perfect brunch outfit! For a bit of fun, I added in my giant Prada headband (you can find a similar one here) and my favourite dad sandals. I know they can be hard to style but I have a post dedicated to how to style them coming soon!

So will you take the challenge? Share how you wear your blazers on the weekend this summer by tagging me in your posts on Instagram! (@thesilksneaker)

The Trending Accessories That Look Luxe But Are Under £50

LUXE LOOK

This post contains affiliate links however this does not affect you in any way!

Here are all the luxe looking accessories that are under £50 that are in trend for spring summer 2019!

I love sharing my luxury accessories with you all especially because you guys are all so interested in them and have such an appreciation for fashion just like me. But what I love about fashion is that you don’t always need to spend a ton to be able to get a luxe look. In fact, some of the trending accessories of the season can all be found for under £50 while still making you look more expensive (think hair accessories, like diamante hair clips!). My three favourites of the season are hands down, hair accessories like large hair clips and headbands, shell jewellery and uber strappy sandals.

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker showcases a spring outfit with her tips on how to get ready faster in the morning with Givenchy, Storets and Prada Headband

HAIR ACCESSORIES

One of the easiest ways to make your outfit look more expensive is to add in a hair accessory. One scroll through your Instagram and you’ll know that hair clips are all the rage. Channel your inner Blair Waldorf and add one of these gorgeous pieces to your outfit. If you’re feeling extra daring you’ll rock more than one at a time!

You can also see my post on how to wear a headband here.

SHELL JEWELLERY

Fair warning, you’re going to see a lot of shell jewellery on The Silk Sneaker in the coming months. It is such an easy and fun way to get a summer feel for your outfit without having to spend a ton, especially because a lot of high-end brands like Etro are putting it on the runway too. Here are some of my favourite pieces that are all under 50 that you can start wearing now!

You can also check out the trending earring styles for spring summer 2019 here.

STRAPPY SANDALS

Put the boots away and grab your strappiest sandals around. The concept behind this luxe-looking trend is to have shoes that are “barely there” – there’s something really chic about it right? There are a lot of gorgeous designer pairs out there but there are also some awesome high street versions out there too. A few of these are over £50 but they are all under £100 so still good quality and affordable.

A Brand I’m Loving: Clare Waight Keller’s Givenchy

This post is an unpaid collaboration with Farfetch. This skirt was gifted to me by Farfetch. All thoughts and opinions remain my own.

When I first heard that Claire Waight Keller was leaving Chloe and heading to Givenchy, I was incredibly curious to see how her creative vision was going to translate into a new brand. We’ve seen how this can go either way (ahem, did someone say new Celine? ahem) but she did not disappoint; Claire Waight Keller’s Givenchy has quickly become one of my favourite brands to love. Of course, it helps tons that the Duchess of Sussex is a huge fan too but am I allowed to say that I loved the brand even before the debut of Meghan’s wedding dress? (I did I swear!) Either way, when Farfetch asked me to style one of my favourite Givenchy pieces to celebrate the brand’s amazing presence on the red carpet for awards season, I was beyond ecstatic. (I’m not a cool fashion person who can keep it cool, when I feel excitement on the inside it shows!)

Farfetch has a fabulous selection of pieces from Givenchy, including some that are on amazing discount (like this skirt!) and others that are brand new. I’m especially loving the selection of statement hoodies and t-shirts (logomania is going nowhere guys). I wanted to keep things simple, elegant and true to the brand (so gotta add some edge!) so I styled my new skirt with a chic turtleneck, and thigh high boots. For that extra layer, I added in a faux fur jacket. I love the beautiful pleat detailing on this skirt that adds a touch of feminine to an otherwise slick look.

How would you style this skirt? Are there any other Givenchy pieces you are loving?

The Luxury Edit: 5 Pieces Worth Shopping This August

Shopping decisions you will never regret

After the amazing feedback from my first luxury shopping edit I knew that I had to make this a regular series here on The Silk Sneaker. PRADA LEATHER BELT BAG

The belt bag is having a major moment and I think is one of those trends we are going to love for years to come. How can you not adore the idea of being hands free and stylish? As fashion moves in a direction where comfort is key, belt bags are taking over.

Why Buy?

Yes, I know, everyone has the Gucci belt bag. But you aren’t just any other girl are you? That’s why you deserve something cooler and better. Opt for this Prada belt bag instead.

Prada is making a huge comeback and this is something you will treasure for life.

It’s quickly become my favourite bag in my closet.

ISABEL MARANT COWBOY BOOTS

Cowboy boots are having a huge moment but I always believe that if you decide to invest in a trend, invest in something that you will love even after it’s not the hottest thing around.

Why Buy?

These boots still retain a classic shape and can be worn season after season.

The added detail on the heel is elegant and can be styled with different outfits for various occasions.

The pointed toe will actually make you look taller if you are petite lik eme.

JOSEPH CASHMERE SWEATER

Remember, classics are always a good investment, especially when they are made in beautiful material like cashmere.

Why Buy?

A cashmere sweater is something that you will always use and have, especially if you take care of it.

Beige is a neutral that immediately oozes with elegance

The material is also incredibly thin and lightweight.

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang shares how she creates the perfect summer outfit mixing luxury fashion and high street fashion with Topshop, Pinko, Valentino and Louis Vuitton

The High Low Edit: Outfit #2

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang shares how she creates the perfect summer outfit mixing luxury fashion and high street fashion with Topshop, Pinko, Valentino and Louis Vuitton

I bought these Topshop trousers a few months ago and they are one of my favourite pairs because they can be dressed up or dressed down. I was wearing them in this office inspired outfit here, and I’m wearing them for today’s Instagram outfit feature. They are a high street piece that look so much more luxe than they are. If these are not available in your size, I have linked to a similar pair from Topshop that are also super chic.

I paired the trousers with an old silky polo from Pinko. I love that it’s a crop top and I’ve tried to find a similar version for you below.

Style Tip: Pair crop tops with high waisted trousers. It looks more elegant as you still show enough skin to elongate your silhouette without looking too out there!

The look is complete with my Louis Vuitton handbag and my Valentino sandals. I picked up these sandals a few years ago and I wear them on repeat when summer arrives! I found a similar pair on ASOS as well if you want to recreate this look!
