Editors Note: If you’re looking to build up your classic pieces in your wardrobe, check out this post.
Have you ever noticed how Parisian woman are always superbly dressed regardless of the season? The same goes for women in Italy! As killer as their wardrobes might be, they all have one thing in common; they all have these 7 classic pieces every woman needs in her wardrobe so that they always has the best outfit ideas. So rather than one outfit formula, you have a range of pieces you can mix and match to fall back on no matter the weather or the day. My outfit today is actually styled completely with those pieces!
The first part of my outfit is a cosy hoodie. Every woman needs an elegant white hoodie that can be styled for a casual day or dressed up for a more special occasion. I paired mine with another essential, high waisted jeans. I love the lighter wash on these, perfect for a fresh winter look and great in the summer too. What really brings my outfit together is the most important essential of them all; a black blazer. You can add a blazer to literally any outfit to make it look more put together. I’ve dressed up an otherwise totally casual look with mine.
The fourth piece is a pair of kitten heels You can wear them in the day as I’ve done here, or at night with literally anything. They are the basis of a good shoe collection. Fifth, I have my Louis Vuitton clutch. If you haven’t guessed already, I believe the fifth piece of the puzzle is having a versatile bag. I love the idea of a clutch you can wear in the day or in the night. It’s the best way to go from desk to drinks! The last two pieces to add to the list are an A-line skirt and ankle boots. I’ve curated my favourites for each below, ready for you to shop! How many do you already have?

I have a gifting relationship with Charlotte Tilbury however I bought the product mentioned below myself. I also have a gifting relationship with Chanel Beauty. I was gifted the Rouge Allure Lip Powder however bought the ? myself. I was also gifted the product from Chantecaille. All thoughts and opinions however remain my own.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I know that in India skin tone is a big deal and there is a lot of emphasis on being “fair”. I know that this is an issue in other countries as well. I just wanted to take a moment to point out that colour does not define beauty. You could be any shade on the spectrum and still be beautiful. I don’t believe that being fairer or darker makes you more beautiful and I don’t think there is anything wrong with the colour that you are now. Embrace it and don’t ever forget you are gorgeous, no matter what colour you are!
As a brown girl, finding the perfect shade of any makeup is no easy feat. One of the things we all want to wear is a beautiful red lip, but when you have a skin tone closer to mine, the line between beautiful and overkill is fine. Brown girls, you know you’ve thought about how to wear red lipstick without it looking too crazy, right? After years of trial and error (including wearing some not so flattering shades…) I’ve found the best red lipsticks for brown girls like me. So, whether you’re looking for the perfect lipstick for Indian skin or the best red for a darker skin tone, you’ve come to the right place.
My list has been narrowed down to the five best. I chose these while keeping a few criteria in mind. Firstly, how well does it really suit my skin tone and girls similar to me? Secondly, have I bought the colour again? Lastly, have I ever received any compliments on it? With that in mind, I was able to pick these five red lipsticks that are perfect for darker skin tones.
I discovered this colour a few years ago when I saw Negin wearing it on an Instagram post. I hopped down to the NARS counter at Selfridges to give it a try and have never looked back. I’ve bought this colour multiple times over the past few years and have recommended it to so many friends. What I love about this one is that it suits a range of skin tones and still maintains that red colour we are all after.
If you’re an OG reader of TSS you’ll remember one of my original brown girl tips; going for a red that is closer to brown is more flattering and achieves the same effect. A colour I always have is Charlotte Tilbury’s, Birkin Brown. I love this shade, it makes a fabulous statement. It’s also a great colour to mix with others to achieve the perfect custom red lipstick. I have previously had a gifting relationship with Charlotte Tilbury but I discovered this shade myself and have always bought it myself.
Some of you may remember my surprise when I tried on this Chanel colour on my Youtube video. I was shocked that such a bright shade of red could actually look this good on a skin tone like mine. Since then I’ve been bold enough to wear it out and have actually received a lot of questions and comments about it. This is great for when you want a really bright and beautiful red.
This product was gifted to me by Chanel however all thoughts and opinions on it remain my own.
If you’re looking for something that is a bit more sheer, good for every day and just adds that touch of colour to your lips, then this Tat Harper lip balm is your new best friend. This particular colour was gifted to me by the brand and It’s quickly become my go to for when I’m rushing out the door but still want a burst of colour on my lips. It’s also super moisturising which makes it perfect for winter.
This product was gifted to me by Tata Harper but all thoughts and opinions remain my own.
This is a new discovery that I made recently at the NARS counter. I’m obsessed with the deeper red tones, which can be built up for a more intense look as well. You’ve seen me mention it a few times on my Instagram stories as well and I’ve been wearing it on repeat! A new must have colour I think.

The idea of pulling together a cute outfit on a cold rainy day can be daunting, especially when you want to be warm but stylish. Living in London has taught me that you can still create an effortless outfit, regardless of the weather. In my time, I’ve learned the key to creating a casual winter outfit as well as a few tips and tricks to stay warm in winter while still looking adorable.
A quick note about my look before I get to my must-know tips. My sweater and skirt are & Other Stories. I love both these pieces because they look so luxe! The sweater has an Isabel Marant vibe and the leather skirt is always in style. I completed my look with my Chanel Backpack and these gorgeous hair clipsfrom The Tripletsss. They are three adorable bloggers who have just launched a fab jewellery line.
1.Layer, layer, and add another layer
You may not be able to see the layers I’m wearing in this outfit but I’ve actually got a layer underneath my incredibly chunky sweater. At this time of year, it’s all about the unseen layers and thermals. My Uniqlo heat tech totally saves me, especially in the run up to fashion week!
2.Keep your feet warm
When my feet are cold, I feel colder! I don’t know if that’s just a weird thing that happens to me but I swear that super warm socks and good boots make me feel warmer. I’m currently obsessed with these & Other Stories boots. I’ve been stopped on the street multiple times by people asking where they are from. Needless to say, everyone is shocked (and pleasantly surprised) that they are high street!
3. Invest in good outerwear
Although it isn’t pictured here, I have a selection of coats that I wear (with inners!) that keep me super warm. I always make it a point to invest in good outerwear that will last me for more than just a single winter. I actually did a round up of some of the best coats out there right now (for every budget) if you’re still looking for a good one which you can check out here. If you’re thinking about next season, August is the best time to invest in a new coat.

Everyone is constantly looking for a capsule wardrobe how to in the hopes that that will be the means and ends of their wardrobe. I have a different approach to the need for a capsule wardrobe. Personal style is so much more than your favourite black turtleneck and jeans but your closet would be incomplete without those pieces, right? I believe that a capsule wardrobe is a solid foundation that you need before you can build up the fashionista wardrobe of your dreams (Even the best wardrobes on the Coveteur have these basics, I can assure you). So before you grab the animal print, grab these first.
So, what makes the perfect winter capsule wardrobe? If you’re looking for the perfect pieces you can always fall back on, I’ve curated the very best of the basics to make sure your never short of an outfit idea this season. Remember, The Silk Sneaker Capsule Wardrobe Edit is the basis any woman needs to be eternally stylish so if you don’t have one of these pieces I would add it to cart before you go for that trendy leopard print blouse or teddy coat. You can mix and match these pieces with each other, or with your latest trendy addition.
The Turtleneck
If you don’t have a basic set of turtlenecks in black, navy and white, then you better get started with that!
The Sweater
Go for plain colours that work with everything. Think neutrals like brown, black and white first and then add in a colour like baby pink or pistachio.
The Trousers
Remember, this is the basic winter wardrobe so you need a pair of beige and black trousers. Something high waisted is always in style and works for anything.
The Jeans
Dark blue jeans, black jeans and one pair of light mom jeans.
The Skirts
I think a slip skirt is a must-have for any season because its the perfect piece. Don’t forget to add in a black skirt and one winter pattern like plaid or houndstooth. Timeless.
The Boots
One pair of ankles, one pair of over the knee. Remember, invest in good accessories and they will last you a lifetime.

The easiest way to make any outfit look more expensive is with the right accessories. One of the biggest fashion trends to make a comeback is the headband, which also happens to be one of the easiest ways to make your next winter outfit look more luxe. The best part? You don’t have to break the bank to get the look! I’ve been reaching for headbands since I was a little girl (I wore on every day!) and although my friends poked fun at me about them all through school, I knew that one day they would all be reaching for one too. (Yes, I was even called Blair Waldorf regularly because of them but whatever, I was always Team B anyways)
Now you’ll find the headband on your favourite street style stars at fashion week (who’s been keeping their eyes on Paris Couture Week?) and across the runway at the likes of Prada, Miu Miu and Dior. Whether you’re looking for a basic one to get you started, a beautiful pearl one for something specialor a lush velvet one like this, there’s something for everyone and they are usually under £50 (Of course you can get ones that are over if your budget allows! The Prada one’s are amazing). Now that’s an accessory to stock up on! The one I’m wearing is from Fenwick’s on Bond Street; they have a fab selection if you are ever in the area!
The best part about headbands is that they are the simplest way to complete an outfit. I wore this look to London Fashion Week a few seasons ago but it looks totally different, and so much better, just by adding the headband! If you’re wondering how to wear a headband, I recommend pushing your hair back with it and then pushing it slightly forward to get that slight puff in your hair. I’ve linked to a whole selection of them below, ready for you to shop!

When you wake up and it’s freezing cold, it can be a bit of a task to decide what to wear to work. Although I may not have a dress code for what I do, a lot of my dearest friends face the same struggle; what do I wear into the office today? I’ve come up with a stylish office outfit that I hope you’re going to love; No more confusion about what to wear to work in the winter!
When you think of work you don’t necessarily think of trends but you’ll be surprised about how easily you can work some of your favourite winter fashion trends into your look. Plaid, houndstooth and tartan are all winter classics and all look incredibly chic. Ditch the black skinny jeans or plain black trousers and instead opt for a patterned pair. I picked up these dark blue tartan trousers from the Sandro sale. I love that the pattern is subtle.
I paired this with a grey turtleneck from Sandro as well (another great sale purchase!). This turtleneck is a total classic piece but what makes the whole look more interesting is the neck detailing. I love classics with a twist! I would also pair these trousers with a plain white ribbed turtleneck and a blazer. Finally, I added in a pair of white boots; a simple yet effective way to make your outfit stand out!
In terms of accessories, I’m wearing vintage Givenchy earrings that I found in a store in Amsterdam and my favourite Louis Vuitton bag. I get a lot of questions about this bag and how much it can fit. Let’s just say I can pretty much fit my life in it! I also added in my new Chanel sunglasses. I’m obsessed with the retro vibes!
If you live in a warmer country but want to recreate this look, I would still opt for patterned pants like these and instead pair it with a white t-shirt or with a white blouse; a white shirt with oversized sleeves would look fabulous! If your office is a bit more casual you can even throw in a pair of white trainers!

You wake up in the morning, you look outside and you realise that winter is still very much here and although it seems almost unbearable that spring is still a while away, don’t let the dreary weather get you down! I know how easy it can be to fall into a January style rut, but I also know how easy it is to step right out of it, and in a fresh winter outfit too! If you’re stuck for cute winter outfit ideas and are wondering what to wear in January in the middle of winter no less, I have just the set of tips for you. The best part? It does not require a brand new wardrobe.
The secret to always being in love with your wardrobe is not to constantly buy new things, but rather to buy smartly and to know how to style those pieces over and over again. So here are a few tips to find the spark in your wardrobe once again:
Try a Contrast
The great thing about your favourite pieces is that there is always a new way to style it. If you have a skirt that is incredibly feminine, try it with something a little edgier. Have a really sporty hoodie? Match it with some super sleek trousers. Work in an unexpected contrast! (Remember this skirt from my NYE insta? Quite a makeover!)
Go For A Colour
It’s very easy to reach for that black turtleneck, with the black jeans and the black coat, with the black coat. Seems to go well with the grey weather right? Wrong! Add in a touch of colour, even if it is neutral like khaki.
Accessories Are Your Friends
I feel like my motto should be “Don’t underestimate a good accessory” considering how much I say it! A great pair of boots or a fabulous chain belt can instantly make that old sweater and jeans combo look new again. That’s why I always say investing in good accessories is a must!
So, how are you re working your old favourites? Comment below with an outfit that is making you feel great this January!
If there’s a fashion trend to get ahead of in 2019, it’s adding a bit of green to your wardrobe. Call it pistachio, sage or mint green, this pastel sherbert shade of green is all set to rule the next few seasons and you don’t want to miss out on it. From the coolest it-brands of high fashion to some of the best high street stores, this shade of green is going to be popping up everywhere (Don’t say I didn’t give you a heads up!) So, how do you indulge in a trend while still staying classic and timeless? The answer is simpler than you think, especially when it comes to a fashion trend involving colour. Go for classic pieces that you can style in many ways, pieces that will outlast any trend, and pieces that fit well into your wardrobe.
Lucky for you I’ve created a dedicated shopping guide with all the best pieces for you right here. Going for one of the gorgeous sweaters or tops? Style it with beige or a light colour bottom for an extra chic look. Extra points if you go for light beige boots! Rather go for those statement earrings? Lucky for you they go with literally anything, not just now, but for seasons to come! What are you waiting for? Get shopping!
Welcome to 2019 and happy new year! It’s a new set of 365 days and I have to say that there is a wave of positivity floating around this January. If there’s anything that 2018 has shown us, its that if you want something, you’ve got to go and get it. 2019 is your year! Now, traditionally this would be a post about all my resolutions for the year, etc, etc, et cetera. Obviously, 2019 isn’t going to be that, judging by the fact that this is my first TSS post of the year and we are in the second year of January already! That’s not to say that you will be seeing less content on here, but rather that I have some great things planned and in the making.
I’ve decided that there is no point to setting resolutions. There is something about the word itself, “resolutions” that almost makes you think of it being something that you follow for the first two weeks of the year and then abandon in the back of your wardrobe (just like the shoes you buy on sale that you thought you could match with everything, but…) Instead, I’m setting intentions. I was excited to see that Chriselle Lim had a similar idea with her anti-resolutions, it’s really about setting an intention that works with your lifestyle.
There’s no point to a resolution. Instead I’m setting intentions.
So what are my intentions for this year?
I intend to lead a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally. 2018 was about me understanding my body better and coming to terms with my body image issues. I think this continues on into 2019 with more of a focus on being fitter, healthier and happier.
I intend to read more. Sometimes it makes a huge difference to put your phone to one side and snuggle with a good book.
I intend to put less pressure on myself in terms of Instagram and social media. It can be easy to get lost in the bubble that is social media and the numbers game of Instagram but I want to be sure I’m sharing content that makes me happy and I hope that makes you happy too.
I intend to be positive. It is very easy to look at a situation and accept defeat. I’m not a loser and neither are you so I hope to look at a situation and try and see the solution not the problem.
