When it comes to winter outfits, we tend to sink into what we know, aka black, navy and grey, white roll necks and black ankle boots. This year, I want to encourage you guys to embrace one of my favorite fall-winter trends of the season; COLOR! Instead of reaching for your standard black jeans, opt for one of these color combinations instead! I’m highlighting some of the trending color combinations for the season that are sure to take you all the way to spring 2020. I promise it’s sure to make any fall-winter outfit you wear look so much more luxe as well.

Yellow & Blue

I would make sure that either one or both of the colors is a pastel shade to make this classic combination look chic. I went for pastel shades in both for my outfit. Don’t forget that denim is also blue, and a great thing to rock this time of year!

Pink & Red

This is one of my favorite combinations of all time and it’s incredibly chic. Both these colors are trending for the season and you can go bold with both. Try to pair a bright pink fuchsia with a bright red to really try something high fashion. You can also pair a maroon or brown with an old rose for something more subtle. Either way, have some fun!

Lilac & Brown

We know that purple is not my favorite color but I am partial to a good lilac shade. This combination is all about the shades – the lighter purple and the deepness of the brown always look super expensive and lux. This is a favourite of most fashion forward girls and I guarantee you will fall in love with it. Work in cream accessories to really get a luxe look!

This Is How You Should Be Wearing Zebra Print This Autumn Winter

THE WILD SIDE

It’s time to embrace zebra print this fall winter – it’s the ultimate animal print of the season.

I have always embraced the classic animal prints when it comes to fall outfits but when it came to one of this year’s biggest fall winter 2019 trends, I wasn’t sure if I could get on board. Zebra print seemed like it was a bit too retro for me, but it turns out I was wrong. It’s all about taking a walk on the wild side this season with this print, but don’t worry you don’t need to go crazy to be en vogue. Here are my tips for embracing this somewhat intimidating trend and still looking as classic and chic as ever.

Firstly, look for zebra print pieces that are neutral in colour. I have seen so many prints that are off white and brown, or, like my zebra print skirt, brown and black. The more neutral and sober the colour palette, the chicer this pattern looks.

Secondly, let the zebra shine through! To really let this print come through, refrain from print matching! Instead, opt for a less is more approach and keep the rest of your look simple and classic. I paired my skirt with a plain black turtleneck and thigh-high boots.

If you live in a warmer country (shout out to my girls in India!) you can still rock these neutral animal prints, just opt for a t-shirt on top instead! If you’re feeling really daring, you can even work in some jewel tones into your look but I would refrain from neons or anything too bright!

I can’t wait to see how you guys rock this print! Share with me in the comments below!

LUXE FOR LESS

One of the things I encourage is buying items that will last you for more than one season. Regardless of it being a high street purchase or a luxury purchase, It’s important to think about how much you will actually use the piece (and now it’s important to be conscious about where these pieces are coming from!). I have high street purchases I have made from almost 5 years ago that I still love and wear as much as my luxury ones. Smart shopping right?

So many of you want to get that high fashion luxe look but are looking for the right places to do so on a budget. I’ve come up with a list of places that create the most stunning affordable items that all look luxe. Trust me, whenever I have worn a piece from any of these brands, or shown these brands to a friend, they always assume that it’s a designer!

Note: I have not included Zara on this list because it’s one we already know! They always have gems! Also, it’s always worth checking out vintage and secondhand stores to find those beautiful designer finds for less.

& OTHER STORIES

It’s no shocker that & Other Stories is first on my list. I have long been in love with this brand for its super trendy yet classic cuts. The materials always look luxe and every single time I wear something from here, the compliments always flow in. I always recommend them for classic basics and more colorful chic pieces too. Shop some of my favorites from them below:

DREAM SISTER JANE

London based brand Dream Sister Jane make the prettiest pieces around. From their larger than life dresses to their preppy houndstooth skirts, there is something to fulfill the luxe Blair Waldorf in you, all while still being affordable. Check out my favorite pieces to shop here:

STORETS

I am in love with Storets. They have so many fabulous hidden gems on their website and although you have to wait for the shipment to get to you, they never disappoint. Some of my most loved pieces are from them and I love that after every wash, it still comes out looking as good as always.

CONCEALER HACKS TO KNOW

What would you say if I told you that you’ve been applying concealer all wrong, all this time? I imagine that the first thing you would want to know is what the right way to use concealer would be right? The first lesson in make up 101 for having that perfect, flawless, base would be how to use concealer to cover up dark circles, dark spots and anything else that’s worrying you this morning. With these three concealer hacks, you’ll be a pro. Get ready to say hello to flawless skin, as long as you follow these tips:

CREATE A TRIANGLE UNDER YOUR EYES

The natural instinct when it comes to covering up dark circles is to make lots of little dots along your under-eye, or one swift line. Right? Wrong! By doing this, you’re drawing more attention to the area rather than covering it. Instead draw an inverted triangle, with the tip pointing towards your cheek. (I’ve marked it in red in the image above!) This way you cover the area while brightening and blending the surrounding area too. The result? An instantly bright complexion!

Pro Tip: Don’t miss the inner corners of your eyes! That makes a LOAD of difference.

CREATE YOUR OWN TINTED MOISTURISER

Usually, I would say that you apply your foundation first and your concealer second, but a lot of us don’t enjoy wearing foundation on an everyday basis right? If you want something that adds a bit more coverage to your face without being too heavy, you can always mix your concealer with your daily moisturizer to create your own tinted moisturizer! Go over any blemish areas with your concealer after applying!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her beige aesthetic with an all beige outfit for spring outfit ideas featuring Zara, & Other Stories and Topshop

DAB, DON’T RUB

When it comes to application, there is a wrong way and a right way. I know so many women who rub in their concealers, especially in the under-eye area. Don’t rub, Dab. Use your ring finger to gently dab your concealer into your skin to properly blend it. Why? This is gentler on your skin, especially in delicate areas like your under eye. It helps to blend the colour better as well, especially if you use a colour corrector. You’ll start to see a huge difference with this small adjustment!

No longer reserved for the office, the blazer is one of my must-have pieces for any fall-winter wardrobe. What was once thought to be an overly preppy piece, the blazer has now become the go-to for every fashionista around. For some of you, blazers make you think of Monday morning but I am here to change that and show you three brand new ways to wear a blazer to create a super elegant fall outfit.  Dress It DownDress your blazer down by pairing it with its exact opposite; a hoodie. I love the contrast you can create by putting these two pieces together. It’s an easy outfit formula that is guaranteed to look stylish. You can opt for an oversized blazer if you want to create a relaxed look.  Go All The WayThe next time you reach for your plaid blazer, why not go all the way with the look? Pair it with a pair of matching plaid pants, or even a plaid skirt. To stop the look from looking too corporate, work in your accessories! Think Gucci and go for statement sunglasses chains or chunky gold jewellery.  Keep It ClassicMy favourite way to wear a blazer is to keep it classic. Pair it with jeans and a sweater for a super sleek fall outfit. Add pops of colours with your shoes and bag and don’t forget to add in at least one statement accessory. Maybe a fun headband (or two!) For my fall blazer outfit, I went for a houndstooth blazer with a white hoodie. I wanted to keep the outfit casual yet chic, so I wore a matching houndstooth belt with some flowing black shorts. My Ba&sh pink heels added in that pop of colour that this look needed (These heels were gifted to me by Ba&sh) How are you wearing your blazer this season?

Just because autumn is here, doesn’t mean you can’t wear a dress! One of my favourite pieces to style in the fall and winter is a chic knitted dress. Think sweater dress but with a grown-up luxe upgrade, the knitted dress trend is here to stay and is guaranteed to make any outfit look 100% more expensive too.

Of course, you can just slip on your knitted dress with a pair of boots, some big square sunglasses and be out the door looking as chic as ever, but the beauty of this piece is how versatile it is. By styling this piece in different ways you can keep wearing it while making it look and feel different every single time.

My favourite knitted dress right now is this beautiful navy & Other Stories one with the pearl button details. As the weather has only just started to change, I decided to wear this jumper dress as a top. I opened up the pearl buttons and paired it with a pair of white shorts and white ankle boots creating a very dramatic silhouette.

As the weather gets colder, you can go simple and pair this dress with combat boots and a chic leather jacket. You can even use it as a layering piece with a white turtleneck underneath for some contrast and some thigh-high boots.

How will you be wearing the knitted dress this season?

3 Make Up Tips All Brown Girls Need To Know

Luxury fashion and beauty blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares three must know make up tips for indian skin tones and brown skin tones

MAKE UP FOR YOU

These 3 make up tips are essential for brown girls everywhere. Trust me, I swear by them for every fashion week, event and more.

As an Indian girl in the fashion industry, I am surrounded by trends, tutorials and products. If there’s one thing I have learned though, it’s that all those things can’t always be applied to me. Sometimes it can be challenging to find the right shade, the right tips or the right advice if you have brown skin like me (I’m not going to go into a diversity rant though, that is a conversation for another time.) That being said I have learned a lot of makeup tricks that are perfect for skin tones like mine and today I wanted to share the three make up tricks all brown women need to know – your routine is about to change.

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her winter makeup hacks with some lipstick tips and tricks featuring Chanel Beauty, Dior Makeup and Charlotte Tilbury and Nars

COLOUR CORRECTORS ARE YOUR BEST FRIENDS

You may have found your perfect concealer match (what a mission right? I finally found mine though), but it still won’t cover up the dark circles perfectly. Am I right? Skin tones like ours need colour correctors and for dark spots and dark circles, you need to cover up the blue undertones with reds and oranges. You can use a special colour corrector in that colour, or just grab an orangey-red lipstick. Apply it on the area and then use your concealer over it. You can see how I do it here.

BLUSH IS FOR EVERYWHERE

That’s right ladies, blush is not just for your cheeks. To bring a bit more colour and dimension to your face, lightly apply your favourite blush to the tip of your nose and the edges of your brow bones. Just make sure that the blush you are using is a natural flattering shade. I’ve linked to some of my favourite colours below that look natural and suit our skin tones!

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares a polka dots spring outfit idea for a casual look featuring Topshop Jeans, Fabled polka dots shirt and Chanel shoes.

LEARN TO LOVE LIQUID BRONZER

Usually, with skin tones like ours, we don’t really need bronzer. Most girls I know use a powder bronzer for a bit of shine but if you want to achieve that all-round glowing look, you need to abandon the powder and opt for the liquid instead. The best way to achieve that glowing finish is to mix a drop of liquid bronzer with your everyday moisturiser or foundation. It will instantly uplift your complexion and make you glow!

As we get ready to welcome in October, the leaves are turning golden, the air is getting crisper and we find ourselves reaching for something a little warmer. That’s right, autumn is officially upon us here in London and that means it’s time to welcome in the new fall/winter fashion trends for 2019 along with some cute fall outfits. Here at TSS you know I’m all about being ahead of the crowd so here are the three autumn trends to start wearing before anyone else!

Houndstooth

Every fall-winter season we see the return of heritage prints like plaid, but this year it’s stylish sister houndstooth is grabbing attention! Usually monochrome, houndstooth is such a classic and chic print that is so easy to work into your wardrobe. I wore my houndstooth Sandro shorts that I also wore to London Fashion Week this year. As the weather gets colder, just add a pair of tights!

Ankle Boots

Ankle boots are here to stay and this year the biker boot aka the combat boot is the popular choice. We saw them come down at Prada and the fashion week crowd has been rocking them all over the street style scene. If you have been a reader of mine you’ll know I have always loved them and this pair of mine are a classic favourite! Pair with your jeans and sweater for an instantly cool look or with a knitted dress.

Statement Hats

Yes, hats are back. I will admit I am not brave enough to delve into bucket hats. If you are, then go for it with one of the options I linked below – I will get there eventually. If you’re waiting it out like me, then try another kind of statement hat, maybe an extra large felt one or a plaid beret like mine. Leather pieces are all the rage too!
