SHOP YOUR WARDROBE

I am so excited to be a part of the Pinterest Creators Class of 2021! It’s such an exciting opportunity with a platform that I am so passionate about. This week I shared something that I think you’re all going to love. If, like me, you’re on a journey to be a more mindful shopper, one of the simplest things you can do is shop your own wardrobe. Although you may think that you need to stock up on the latest autumn winter 2021 trends, what you may not realise is that you probably already have a lot of them in your wardrobe. Every year, a lot of the same “trends” are in style, and have carried down from previous seasons. Here are my 5 favourites that you already have in your wardrobe! You can watch my video above or scroll down to shop each one!

TAILORING

Tailoring is practically a basic for a wardrobe in 2021. Think sleek blazers and well fitted trousers. I think that for something like this having your tailor on speed dial is a must.

MINI SKIRTS

Although  controversial one for autumn/winter pair with high boots or tights for a super sleek look this season.

TARTAN

Is there ever a year when tartan or plaid is not in style? This is practically a staple for any autumn wardrobe.

SWEATER VESTS

We are carrying this one down from last year and it’s one that I think is set to stay. Style with denim or layer over a shirt dress with boots.

KNIT DRESS

Ribbed or turtleneck, cashmere or wool, knit dresses are ruling over this season, as they have for countless before.

Which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below

COLDER MONTHS, GLOWING SKIN

As the weather changes, so does the texture of our skin. If, like me, you suffer from sensitive, acne-prone skin, you know how upsetting (and quick) it can be when you wake up one cold autumn morning and see a new spot(s). Over the years, I’ve learnt a few tricks to help keep the skin in check and in tune with the changes around us. I’m sharing my top three must do’s to transition yourself for a cold-weather skin routine, to keep your skin fresh and glowing all through to 2022.

Moisturise, Moisturise, Moisturise

A huge misconception is that you shouldn’t use facial oils or heavy moisturisers if you have sensitive, acne-prone skin. What I’ve learnt is that this is not true. Moisturising your skin correctly helps to keep it balanced and contributes to your glow. If you’re just delving into the world of facial oils, I recommend Gallinee – their oil only feed and moisturises the good bacteria that live on your skin, not the ones that cause acne. This means you can have glowing, hydrated skin without worrying about “feeding” the acne further.

Gently Exfoliate

A little exfoliation is a must to make sure you are buffing away dead skin cells and allowing your skin space for new ones. This is a great thing to do once a week with a gentle exfoliator (maybe a light peel like this one from The Organic Pharmacy or this wash from BioEffect). Try not to get carried away though, over-exfoliation can be awful for sensitive skin.

Hydration

I don’t mean hydration on the outside. I mean on the inside. I’m sure you’ve seen my water bottle on Instagram (you know the one!!). Since I started consuming more water, my skin has been better, regardless of the weather change. When I came down with the flu and wasn’t having as much water (and a hell of a lot of dairy!), my skin was not happy. What you put in your body is as important as what you put on it.

October Notes & What’s New In My Wardrobe

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite moments for October and what's new in her autumn wardrobe

OCTOBER IS HERE

A new month, new thoughts, new feelings, new pieces in the wardrobe.

The weather is no longer constantly rain, Mercury is out of retrograde, and Whatsapp is finally working again. Things are already looking up this October, my loves! At the start of every month, I like to take stock and reflect on where we are now and where we want to be. With TSS, I’ve been loving sharing more personal moments with you on my Instagram stories. I am SO excited to say that there will be weekly vlogs over on my IGTV. Who knows, perhaps the Youtube channel will make a comeback soon too! I am so proud as well to be a part of the Pinterest Class of Creators for 2021. You can check out some of my work here!

I’m so excited to dig into my autumn wardrobe with some of my favourite old knits, jackets and boots, and a few beautiful new ones! I’ve been wearing my new jeans on repeat, and I just can’t get enough of some of these beautiful coloured cardigans and sweaters! (Have you seen the one that looks like THAT Chanel sweater yet?) I’ve highlighted some of my favourite new pieces that I have added to my closet for you below!

On a more personal note, we are still settling down in our new home. It’s been a long process, and waiting for our furniture to come in has been equal parts annoying as it is exciting (Thank you, fuel shortages and Brexit). As I type this, though, I’m watching as they unpack our new sofa in the living room, and I cannot wait to accessorise, decorate, and jump on it and curl up with Harry Potter. I’ve been loving adding in all the lovely soft furnishings to our space, from some fantastic coffee table books to chic vases. I’ve linked some of my favourite new pieces that we have added below so you can take a look!

I have also been spending a lot of time on self-care and reflecting on where I am in my own personal journey. When Shiv and I were in Ibiza, I remember saying to him that I felt like I had lost a part of myself somewhere along the last year. I had let my anxiety and paranoia get the better of me more than I would care to admit, and I needed to get back in touch with the confident, fun-loving side of myself. It was small things. Constantly claiming to be an introvert when actually I can be pretty outgoing. Catching myself, putting my body down in the mirror. Simply not giving myself the space to be the person I know I can be. I’ve spent a lot of time this last month working on that, and although I know I’m not done, I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

My goals for October are to continue making our new place feel like home, continue to create content that can help and empower you, continue to work on being true to myself, being able to speak my mind with those around me without fear of judgement and learn how to put myself and my loved ones first. Oh, and get lots of cuddles from Shiv and Alfie, of course. What are your goals for October?
