I am so excited to be a part of the Pinterest Creators Class of 2021! It’s such an exciting opportunity with a platform that I am so passionate about. This week I shared something that I think you’re all going to love. If, like me, you’re on a journey to be a more mindful shopper, one of the simplest things you can do is shop your own wardrobe. Although you may think that you need to stock up on the latest autumn winter 2021 trends, what you may not realise is that you probably already have a lot of them in your wardrobe. Every year, a lot of the same “trends” are in style, and have carried down from previous seasons. Here are my 5 favourites that you already have in your wardrobe! You can watch my video above or scroll down to shop each one!

TAILORING

Tailoring is practically a basic for a wardrobe in 2021. Think sleek blazers and well fitted trousers. I think that for something like this having your tailor on speed dial is a must.

MINI SKIRTS

Although  controversial one for autumn/winter pair with high boots or tights for a super sleek look this season.

TARTAN

Is there ever a year when tartan or plaid is not in style? This is practically a staple for any autumn wardrobe.

SWEATER VESTS

We are carrying this one down from last year and it’s one that I think is set to stay. Style with denim or layer over a shirt dress with boots.

KNIT DRESS

Ribbed or turtleneck, cashmere or wool, knit dresses are ruling over this season, as they have for countless before.

Which is your favourite? Let me know in the comments below

It’s official; sweater weather is here which means it’s time to update the knit section of your winter wardrobe. The base of any cute winter outfit is always a good sweater. Whether you’re layering it up or wearing it on its own, the right sweater can take your outfit from good to great. The autumn-winter 2018 trends highlighted that statement sweaters and animal print are here to stay, but the street style scene is highlighting oversized knits and tricolours. I’ve rounded up a selection of some of the best sweaters on the high street and beyond right now, in the five trending styles.

My favourite part of this selection is that you’d be surprised at the amazing quality of some of the high street pieces, especially the & Other Stories cashmere range! It just shows you how the options are endless but I’ve highlighted the best of the best for you here.

A quick note about my outfit as well. This tricolour knit from & Other Stories has been one of my favourites this season. The colours make it so easy to style with a simple pair of jeans or to layer over a white shirt dress as I have here. If you remember my petite girl tips then you’ll know that clinching your waist is key. That’s why I added in my Prada belt bag. To bring the look together (and keep me warm) I finished the outfit with my Stuart Weitzman Highland suede boots.

So, which sweater style is your favourite?

Here’s What Happened When I Tried The Socks and Heels Trend…

SOCKS AND HEELS

There are some trends that you know you love, and some trends that you know you hate. Then there are there are the trends that you think you hate, but you could potentially get on board with. Socks and Heels was one of those autumn winter 2018 trends for me. At first, I couldn’t handle the concept at all, it was too reminiscent of socks and sandals for me. As time went on, I had more and more of you asking me what I thought of the trend, and some of you even wanted to know how I would style it. That’s when I realised, I had to give socks and heels a try. Here’s what happened.

I didn’t totally hate it. Trust me, I was incredibly surprised by this. I realised, like with any trends, there are a few ways to make it work for you and to really elevate it to a new level of chic. So if you’re looking to try the socks and heels trend, or you’ve already discovered you love it and want to up your game, here are three tips for really making this fad, something to rave about:

1. Choose the right pair of socks
Don’t go for your white socks and definitely put the Christmas-esque ones away. If you really want to get a chic high fashion look, go for sheer socks. Think your favourite glittery kind, or sheer with a fun pattern. I opted for my glitter socks, perfect for the autumn winter parties! You could even make this work with fishnet socks. Free People have a fabulous selection of sheer socks that I am currently crushing on and this is something I saw done at New York Fashion week as well!

2. Choose the right pair of heels.
This is so crucial for making this work! As you can see I went for a pair of strappy, open toe shoes. I would avoid wearing closed or pointed toed shoes with a trend like this. Instead, go for open toe and strappy!

3. Keep the rest of your look classic.
If you’re going to really rock a trend like socks and heels, make sure that the rest of your outfit is classic. I went for a chic little black dress, an elegant choice when going for a trend like this one.

So would you give this trend a try? Comment below and let me know!

A Peek Inside My Shoe Closet: Isabel Marant Cowboy Bootst

COWBOY BOOTS ARE HERE.

If there’s a shoe that’s trending for autumn winter and with the street style crowd its cowboy boots. As the western trend takes over for the season, I’ve found myself embracing cowboy boots like never before. I actually spent a majority of my summer hunting for the perfect pair, from the high street to my favourite designer stores and after searching high and low, trying on all the pairs, comparing fits and so on, I settled on these beauties. My Isabel Marant cowboy boots with the embellished heel are probably my favourite boots in my closet right now.

So, for this month’s sneak peek in my shoe closet, it seemed only fitting to share with you guys why you need these cowboy boots in your life and to share the alternatives I tried on that would have made the cut if I could buy more than one pair!

Quality

The whole point of investing in luxury accessories is the quality. Especially when you’re looking to buy a pair of leather shoes, you want shoes that are durable and that will age well. So far, for wearing these boots every day, I’m really happy with how durable they are. They have minimal scuffing and are still shiny and gorgeous. The leather is ageing well and I like how it bends with my feet.

Design

One of the reasons I went for this pair was the design. I love the embellished heel on these boots and the faint stitching detail on them. They have a very cowboy aesthetic while still being very high fashion. The heels are a total show stopper for me. They are also not super high which means you can wear them with anything!

Comfort

I have wide feet so I was a bit nervous about getting a pair of cowboy boots initially because I felt they would hurt my feet. These were so comfortable and the leather stretches with time giving me enough room to be able to wear these all day, day in and day out. The heel is low which also means they are super comfortable. Literally living in them.

Care

Leather shoes like these are easy to care for but make sure to help your boots retain their shape by stuffing them. I either stuff them with the tissue they came with or I get soft tissue and make little balls and stuff them. I also keep them in their dust bag so that the leather and heels stay in good quality. You can invest in a black leather shoe shine and a leather cream to clean them. A good trick though is to use non-scented lotion to clean your leather shoes.

Your Guide To The Chicest Autumn Winter Trends for 2018

FRESH NEW SEASON

Your ultimate guide to the chicest autumn winter fashion trends that you can actually incorporate into your wardrobe.

All images taken from Pinterest and Vogue.com

With New York Fashion Week having officially kicked off, all eyes are turned to the runways and street style stars, however, there is no ignoring the lust worth autumn winter fashion trends that are hitting the stores and our wardrobes this September. Whether you are feeling a little wild for animal prints or nostalgic for 70’s corduroy, this season promises trends that are sure to look chic.

Of course, like with any season, there are those trends that only look good coming down a runway but in my trend guide, you will only find the chic fashion trends for autumn winter that you can actually wear. Not only have I given you some styling tips for each one, but I’ve also linked to some fabulous pieces from the high street (Save your £££ for the classics right?)

Like with any trend, it’s important to remember to work it into a classic look to truly reach a new level of chic. I love a good trend as much as the next girl but it’s all about staying true to your style as well. I hope you find my tips for that useful! Leave me a comment with your favourite trend and how you are going to be wearing it.

ANIMAL PRINTS

This autumn winter is all about letting your wild side run loose with animal prints. This trend is more than just your standard leopard print skirt. We are seeing a large influx of zebra and snake prints too. Don’t be afraid to go all out with this one and layer it into your look with different textures too. If you’re a bit afraid of a full-blown printed piece, opt for accessories like printed scarves or a clutch! See my shopping edit below!

Style Tip

Keep your look classic by pairing your animal print with a neutral like white, black or even earth tones. Letting that one print take centre stage will make your outfit effortlessly chic.

70’S STYLE NEUTRALS

Black and white are staples in our wardrobes but this season’s neutrals are reminiscent of the 70’s. Think beautiful browns, caramel tones and deep berries. All these earthy shades suit almost every skin tone and you can create a beautiful outfit by combining all these colours with your simple basics. That’s when you know a trend is eternally classic!

I’ve linked to some beautiful pieces below, including a few textured pieces in another trending material for the season, corduroy.

Dior, Versace, Fendi

PLAID HERITAGE PRINTS

There are some trends that we see year after year come autumn winter and plaid is one of them. So much so, that I’m not sure why we even call it a trend anymore! Plaid and tartan are back as heritage prints this season, with a bold update. We are seeing more than just your usual black and white skirt this year. Look for colourful variations of this classic as well as trousers and jackets.

I have to admit that this is one of my favourite patterns for the season, a girl can never have enough plaid in her wardrobe! Trust me on that one, especially when you’re shopping my edit here.

Whether you are feeling a little wild for animal prints or nostalgic for 70’s corduroy, this season promises trends that are sure to look chic.

COWBOY BOOTS

The cowgirl look is back and I could never have imagined a more high fashion update than the one it’s gotten this season. I’ve been spotting cowboy boots all over the runway, Instagram and the street style scene. There is no ignoring this amazing trend and it’s also one that I’ve invested in myself. I love my cowboy boots so much that I’ve worn them almost every day. Get ready to be seeing them all over my outfits over the next few months!

STATEMENT JUMPERS

If you thought statement jumpers were just a fad on Instagram, you’ll be happy to learn that they are continuing on this season, stronger than ever. With more and more designer brands opting in for statement slogan sweaters, this is becoming a way to not only express your fashion sense but your personality too. I’ve always been a huge fan of this, as we’ve seen through my love for slogan t shirts!

Style Tip

Think about the colours you choose to create an outfit around a slogan sweater. Is the sweater a bold colour? Pair with a neutral. Does it have a touch of colour? See how else you can work in that colour/shade into your outfit!

SCARF PRINTS

Something about this trend is so “The Crown” to me. Does anyone else get that vibe? Either way, channel your favourite royal and opt for lots of scarf prints this season. We’ve already seen Zara pounce on this trend with this amazing skirt, which I am sure is going to be all over the street style scene this fashion month.

Style Tip
I know that a trend like this can seem intimidating, so ease into it by adding a printed scarf to your outfit. Try tying the scarf around your plain turtleneck for a burst of colour and fun. I actually did exactly that right here.

THE 80’S WOMAN

Here’s your time to let your inner Madonna come out! Think black and white, power shoulders and full-on girl boss. Let your party dresses run on the shorter side and don’t shy away from those shoulder pads in your blazer. Add a super sleek hat for that extra touch. I particularly loved the silhouette created by Saint Laurent this season, with the slouchy shirts tucked into the leather trousers, very powerful. Don’t forget the Marc Jacob’s ode to the 80’s either!

Essentially, this trend is all about being the girl boss you know you are.

Here’s How You Can Wear The Autumn/Winter Trends That Will Always Be In Style

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker showcases how to wear autumn/winter trends in a classic way

With another season upon us, it’s a whole new round of trends to think about! In the midst of all the Autumn/Winter trend talk, it’s so easy to get lost and feel the pressure to either make impulse trend driven purchases, or to feel “unstylish” One of the most important style lessons I’ve learnt is that you should never let trends dominate the way you define your personal style. Instead, how do the trends work with your style? How can you add small details and pieces that enhance how you already dress? There are certain trends that show up year after year, and will always be in style no matter the season. These are the trends worth investing in! I’ve rounded up the 6 trends that you are going to be loving this season. Not only that, I’m also showing you how to take the trends and translate them from the runway. I’ve created the perfect ensemble for each ‘trend’ that is a classic, and will work anytime, any moment!

The key classic trends that I know you’ll always want to keep are all white, heritage prints, faux fur, waist details, monochrome and tan. What I love about all these looks is that you probably already have the pieces you need to create them and if not, they are all worth having! Just click on the plus icons to shop the look!

So which outfit is your favorite? Do you think this helps you?

All White

There is something so classy about all white. White is a neutral that will never go out of style. So whether you wear your all white pieces together, or separately, they will always work!

Heritage Prints

Tartan, plaid, houndstooth. Like florals go with spring, heritage prints go with winter! I’m sure you already have some or all of these pieces in your wardrobe! An outfit like this is on trend and always classic!

Faux Fur

I love that the fashion industry is moving towards faux fur – it’s the future! It’s a great way to add some luxe to your favourite off duty look! So simple!

Waist Details

Adding attention to your waist and creating a silhouette is never going to go out of style. Paperbag waists or anything with a tie detail is a great piece to have in your wardrobe, especially this season!

Monochrome

I LOVE monochrome. I love wearing shades of one colour, or just one colour, through my whole outfit. It’s so simple but it looks so chic! The colours this season are blue and red – blue is a favourite of mine! (Think Dior!)

Tan

I think this might be my mothers favourite colour – and she is always classic in her style. Tan is having a major moment this year, but it’s always a part of any collection and should be a part of your wardrobe! Works so well for work too!

In a dark classroom, filled with wooden desks and dim laptop screens, I found myself slowly dozing off to slides of Monet. My Art History class was a compulsory module in order to take my Film Studies class at Columbia NYC that summer; but at the mere age of 16 I had a massive lack of appreciation for art; I regretfully admit that I was more interested in the gift store at the MoMa. Rest assured, much has changed over the last five years and through some sort of midnight epiphany, I found a love for art when I did a hop, skip and jump over to London. Imagine my glee when I got to attend the Lumas: Art Now launch last week. (Beyond belief in case you haven’t caught on)

I don’t think art is something you stare at blankly on a prescribed marking on the floor and attempt to reach some sort of internal enigma. Rather art is relatable, or rather it should be. At the risk of preaching a Theory of Knowledge syllabus at you (holla at my fellow IB’ers) art is a matter of perception; a personal matter. What makes it worth hanging up on your wall or gawking over at Frieze or ignoring completely, I don’t know, but all the same, it’s thought provoking. To even have this discussion, art should be accessible, which was the goal of the Lumas: Art Now launch – Limited editions print in small sizes available for your gifting/consuming pleasure.

Stripes

There’s something about stripes that I find so chic. If paired just correctly, they can be incredibly elegant.

Although my iPhone is set on crushing my dreams of warmer weather approaching, I choose to believe that what I physically feel when I step out is more accurate than what my weather app chooses to show me. As I type this out, rays of sunlight are shining in to my flat, ensuring me that I am in fact correct. In other words, Spring is coming (As is Game of Thrones… if you missed the reference). While I shed my layers in the coming months I find myself reaching for prints instead. You can’t really go wrong with stripes after all.

There’s a certain attitude to have about trends.

We can’t lie when we say that the arrival of fashion month doesn’t bring us all excitement. Whether you’re attending the shows or observing from afar via your technological medium, it’s really the advent of the new. New trends, new clothes, new moods, essentially, if I dare use this word, new vibes. So although we are gearing up to see what Fall/Winter is going to bring us, let’s appreciate what’s coming instead. Even with all the excitement, treading on trends is similar to walking to on hot coal with no shoes, be sure to tread carefully – there is no point attempting to recreate the exact trend/look/vibe (Couldn’t help myself, such a fun word), and loosing your sense of yourself. In case you missed it, tassels and fringe are one of the many trends for S/S 2016…Clearly it’s also one of my favourites.

So if it’s one of your favourite trends to, be sure to play with it, make it yours, and by all means be inspired!
