We all know what it’s like to wake up in the morning and think “What in the world do I wear today?” With a new season here, our wardrobes need a small spring update so that no matter what you may put on, uniform or not, your look is spring ready! For this season, there are five essential pieces that you need to create the perfect spring look – mix and match them, wear them all together like I did, or spice up your jeans and tee combination with one of them! No matter what you’re doing, these five pieces are a great way to refresh your spring wardrobe and spring look without having to break the bank! (There’s something for everyone!). Keep reading to see my five essentials to refresh your look this spring, along with some other picks that fit the bill!

1. The Blazer

The blazer is a capsule wardrobe must have and for spring it gets a colourful update! Ditch your black blazer for a coloured one (preferably a pink or yellow one!) for an instant and fresh update on any look! That burst of colour is sure to make your outfit stand out in a timeless way, no matter how simple! How’s that for a quick outfit formula for those hurried mornings?

If you haven’t noticed already, tinted sunglasses are having a huge moment. That retro feel is back and it’s here to stay for a while judging by some of the collections for F/W 2017. I love the pop of colour they add and that effortlessly cool look they give any outfit! Only thing – be careful not to stare, you can see right through! That happened to me only yesterday! The straw bag is no longer for your days on the beach! It’s the perfect spring and summer accessory for any day out, city or sand! Coming in all ranges and sizes, I opted for a petite one with these adorable pom poms! You can have your pick from the many I have my eye on – I think it’s time to build my collection! A super cute way to add that beach touch to your look!

Cute Story about this bag! I ordered the bag over the weekend and thought I had asked for same-day delivery. I had accidentally asked for it to be delivered two weeks later! The amazing customer service (Special shout out to Kay!) at Avenue 32 brought this to my attention and then proceeded to have it delivered to me on Tuesday post the holiday. A girl can never have too many shoes, which is why your spring wardrobe of course needs a pair of spring flats! I think flats are so important for the season – the no fuss factor they add is exactly what we are all looking for as the weather gets warmer! For spring, look for backless mules, and extra points if yours have a touch of colour! I’ve been eyeing these shoes forever and I was so happy when I finally got them! 5. The Head Piece

Whether you go for a hairband or you go for a scarf, the colourful head piece is a must have for your spring look! It adds an instant refresh, making any spring look feel fresh and new! Pops of colour like these are fun to add and it’s a great way to experiment with pattern mixing as well! The one I’m wearing here is a headband and I’ve linked to it below. (I have a huge thing for hair bands that started way before Blair Waldorf..)

Can anyone else believe that it’s November? I feel like we’ve fast forwarded through 2016 and it’s almost time for Christmas gifting and hot chocolate. Since tis almost the season for gifting and shine, I have a feeling that my November favourites are about to become your November favourites. Chantecaille Liquid Lumiére

I’m all about the natural beauty look – my daily routine is so simple and to the point but is always a no fail situation. I’ve recently started using this Chantecaille Liquid Lumiére highlighter and I have to say it is the best highlighter I’ve used by far. It’s got a strong shine so you don’t need too much of it but it also blends beautifully and looks incredibly natural.

I’m a huge fan of liquid blush because I find that it appears more natural on the skin and is much easier to manage and manipulate. My current favourite is this gorgeous By Terry liquid blush. It comes in three different shades (I obviously went for the bright pink!) and has a slightly glossy finish on the skin. Perfect for rosy cheeks all winter long.

Monica Vinader Bangles

If you’ve been reading carefully you will know that I love beautiful jewellery. I always find that an outfit is incomplete without something and I usually always have something on my wrists. My most recent purchase were these two Monica Vinader bangles. I love the minimal shape and the way they look stacked on the wrists! They really are the perfect accessory for everyday! (Plus, pro tip, they make stunning Christmas presents… or even birthday presents.. or just a present to yourself)

Clarins Fix Make Up Spray

One of the biggest make up mistakes is when your makeup is too cakey and just isn’t set properly. If you’ve ever been guilty of doing that, and I know I have, I find that one of the best ways to make sure that A. your make up is set perfectly, B. it lasts all night looonngg, and C. it looks flawless and natural, is to use this Clarins spray. A couple of spritz’s after your make up routine is complete and you will wonder why you didn’t know about this spray before.

One of the most luxurious fabrics in the world is silk (A little insight into where ‘The Silk Sneaker’ comes from!) and it’s also one of the best fabrics for your hair and skin. Silk helps battle frizz, keeps your hair cleaner and styled for longer, and is gentle on your skin. So we all know that everyone wants a silk pillowcase, but I also swear by using silk scrunchies in my hair! If it’s good for my hair, I’m on board. It’s just a perk that they come in the most gorgeous colours too.

My Most Versatile Layering Piece

Your most versatile piece this season isn’t what you’d expect.

Your lace cami is about to take your winter layering to new heights.

Although there are many things about winter we may not whole heartedly enjoy, it’s safe to say that one of the things I do love about this season is how much more creative I can be with my dressing. Layering is by far one of the most fun things to do, and how to layer is it’s own story all together.

I think it’s all about being able to make all the pieces in your closet as versatile as possible, to get as much use out of each piece and to explore all the different ways you can create a totally different look with them. After all, that’s when you know you’ve made a good purchase. This lace cami has to be one of the most versatile pieces in my closet. I can wear it in the spring or summer with my favourite ripped jeans or skirt and now it looks gorgeous in the winter too.

With some thoughtful layering, I put this piece over my turtleneck to really let the lace detailing shine through, all while staying warm. The MVP this season, would without a doubt have to go to the lace cami.

Woman in Plaid

When a favourite classic gets an elevated upgrade.

As a girl plaid skirts were my obsession. They progressed with me through all my different phases – from my Avril Lavigne ‘punk’ rock stage to my Lindsay Lohan ‘I wear Pink on Wednesday’ stage. It seems old habits die hard because it’s back in my closet but with a womanly update.

This skirt very clearly proves my point that plaid skirts aren’t just for little girls, they are very much for the modern woman. The colour combination is slightly more sophisticated than the classic black and red, making it an easy piece to match. The fact that it’s wool is one of my favourite parts, because it’s perfect for an autumn outfit!

I wore this outfit on a day out with my mother. It was perfect for hitting the stores and just having a lovely day out. Paired with my thigh high boots I managed to stay quite warm. I was a bit late to the Stuart Weizmanan boots party but I totally understand why everyone is obsessed with them. They have to be one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes that I own! I highly recommend investing in a pair.

In other news, I hope you guys have been enjoying the new website! It’s been such a fun experience creating it but the fun doesn’t stop here. I have so many more features planned which are all in the pipeline! Can’t wait to keep sharing! When in doubt, just add some shine to an already classic look.

Just because it’s autumn, it doesn’t mean you have to hide your legs, I mean what else are over the knee boots for? With some solid layering, whether it be layered tops or sweaters like mine, your favourite skirt is about to get a cold weather upgrade. With the last days of October upon us (who’s ready for halloween? I know I’m not… there is some serious DIY happening for my costume) I can’t help but be more and more inclined to the shiny and the sparkly. When I saw this metallic skirt I couldn’t resist. Metallic leather adds such an amazing touch to an everyday look, it’s such an easy way to step up your outfit. If worn right, metallic can also be such an easy way to upgrade a very classic look.

With the US Elections coming up, and winter making it’s way into our bones and souls (winter is coming, but GOT will not grace our screens till… June?!?!) November is going to be one hell of a month. It seems like everyday we get a new set of “facts” that seem to throw another curveball into the whole discussion, the grand finale is sure to leave us either incredibly relieved or incredibly worried. As the cold sets in here in London and we start preparing for the holiday season and the stress of end of the year work, I love being able to combat that through just feeling and looking good. This metallic skirt does that for me, it makes me feel confident yet classic, and is the perfect way to add some shine to any type of gloomy day. When you feel confident on the inside, you’re going to feel confident on the outside, and then nothing can stop you.

It’s all about some creative layering

After my gorgeous trip to Zermatt I was excited to come back to London. Not only was I excited because I was feeling refreshed and inspired, but also because as much as I enjoyed my casual dressing in the mountain, I was excited for the ‘London look’ once again. I admit that autumn and winter are not my favourite seasons of the year but what makes me excited for them is the fact that I can start to pull out all my favourite chunky knits, my leather skirts, my thigh high boots and my favourite coats. It felt only right to layer as well and throw it all in together. Layering is a skill that once mastered can be so much fun to play with. What I love most about this outfit is the skirt. The colour is so unusual and the croc embossing effect on it makes it such a star piece for your wardrobe – easy to match and pair with other statement pieces while making it’s own subtle statement as well. It went perfectly with one of my favourite bags that was a beautiful birthday present to me.

Venice: Where to Eat, Drink & Play

Italy charmed me long ago when I fell in love with Capri. It managed to do it all over again, this time in Venice. Luring me with promises of gelato, my weight in spaghetti and stunning views (all these promises were fulfilled), Venice stole my heart. Theres nothing quite as satisfying as getting lost in the little colourful streets, the bridges over the canals, or over a glass of Aperol Spritz. With art and culture pouring out at every corner, there’s never a dull moment in this lagoon city.

No matter what corner we turned or bridge we crossed, there was always a beautiful view waiting for us!

Explored Venice’s little streets on our second day in my favourite Self-Portrait top. Plus I found a boater hat on the streets of Venice that I have been hunting for, for ages!

For the best Lobster spaghetti around, try this beautiful restaurant called La Calcina on the water – if its squid ink spaghetti you’re after, look no further than Al Mascaron!

If you’re a lover of modern art, you must check out the Peggy Guggenheim collection – stunning, especially the Andy Warhol piece!

For the best gelato – try La Boutique del Gelato -my favourite flavour there was a mix of chocolate, honey and rum. It’s called Caribe! For a more scenic view, try Nicos!

On our third day I opted for this Free People dress – I love dresses in the summer, especially on a vacation! They are so easy and I love the embroidery on this one. It was the perfect gondola dress too!

Lady in Red

Spring – the arrival of all things beautiful and colourful. What better way to celebrate that than with the power colour of all power colours; Red.

For those of you interested in a little bit of cultural insight, it is the eve of Holi today in India – the festival celebrating the first day of spring. Tomorrow, the streets will be full of people rejoicing by throwing coloured powder and water balloons at one another. Spring after all is the arrival of all things bright and wonderful. Although it’s been a very long time since I found myself in a colour war face off (Trust, I know all the tricks and tips), I’m celebrating in my own way. Out comes all my colourful clothing.. or as much colour I have in my closet!
