It’s safe to say that it’s time to pull out your favourite teddy coat and over the knee boots: Winter is coming (Yes, must fill the GOT hole in all our hearts right now). I can’t repeat myself enough when I say that accessories are worth your investment, especially because you wear them season after season, and they can last a lifetime, granted you take care of them well. I love to give my over the knee winter boots a refresh at the cobbler every year and I was so excited to be able to pull out my favourite Stuart Weitzman Highland boots this year!

How To Wear Your Favourite Plaid Skirt In The Spring

Plaid is trending this spring and here’s how to wear it…

When you’re thinking about summer outfits, you aren’t always thinking about plaid but if runway fashion has shown us anything, it’s that plaid is very much an all year round thing! I’ve always loved a good plaid skirt, and if you are a regular reader of my blog you would have noticed this for sure. Just last week, I shared an asymmetrical skirt that was, of course, a summer plaid print! I am all about making the most of the pieces in your wardrobe, and today I want to share a super chic plaid skirt outfit that you can wear this summer.

I paired my plaid skirt with a simple silk white cami and a cropped black blazer. The blazer is such an elegant shape and it made the perfect pairing with this skirt. It really makes the whole outfit look so much more luxe. I also love how the belt detailing on the blazer added a bit of shape to my silhouette and really helped define my waist! The two paired together make for an ultra high fashion look, even though the pieces are a mix of premium and high street fashion! Something about this elegant summer outfit felt very retro and vintage to me. It’s the perfect look to rock on a day you are feeling most in touch with your inner Audrey Hepburn (WWAW – What Would Audrey Wear?). I completed the outfit with my favourite embroidered flats. The pointed toe on the flats makes me look taller even though I’m not wearing any heels. That’s a great tip I’ve picked up over the years and works very well if you’re petite like me! Playing Plaid Mix and Match

Sometimes the most unlikely pieces make the perfect pair.

I’ve never been one to mix two pieces together if I wasn’t 100% sure that they went together pretty well but something about the less obvious pairing, which at first, may seem strange, but something inside you just knows it’s right, has grown on me. Sometimes the most unlikely pieces make the perfect pair; much like this sweater and skirt. I actually bought this sweater and skirt on the same day, and had them on in the trial room at the same time. I had no intention of wearing them together but for the sake of time I tried them on together. When I glanced in the mirror and saw the look together, something inside me clicked – it was like a real life outfit straight from the set of Clueless, but it was quite clued in.

We are all familiar with the infamous tiger Kenzo sweatshirt, something which when I was just dabbling in blogging was my favourite thing to wear. Since them, Kenzo has made a splash on the scene with their H&M collaboration, boasting bright colours and funky patterns but when I saw this more sober sweater, I just knew it was perfect for me. In regard to plaid, you know me, I love a good plaid skirt. The material of this Acne skirt is perfect for keeping you warm this December, and the zip up detail going down the front made it more than just your every day piece of plaid. The colours seem like an unexpected combination, but if you really look at it, they are colours that would all work together on any other occasion, so why not this one?

It’s totally nuts that it is already the first day of December – I swear it was January just yesterday? For me, it’s a time for reflection. Woman in Plaid

When a favourite classic gets an elevated upgrade.

As a girl plaid skirts were my obsession. They progressed with me through all my different phases – from my Avril Lavigne ‘punk’ rock stage to my Lindsay Lohan ‘I wear Pink on Wednesday’ stage. It seems old habits die hard because it’s back in my closet but with a womanly update.

This skirt very clearly proves my point that plaid skirts aren’t just for little girls, they are very much for the modern woman. The colour combination is slightly more sophisticated than the classic black and red, making it an easy piece to match. The fact that it’s wool is one of my favourite parts, because it’s perfect for an autumn outfit!

I wore this outfit on a day out with my mother. It was perfect for hitting the stores and just having a lovely day out. Paired with my thigh high boots I managed to stay quite warm. I was a bit late to the Stuart Weizmanan boots party but I totally understand why everyone is obsessed with them. They have to be one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes that I own! I highly recommend investing in a pair.

In other news, I hope you guys have been enjoying the new website! It’s been such a fun experience creating it but the fun doesn’t stop here.
