We’ve come to that point in the year (already!) where spring is at our fingertips and street style from new york fashion week and soon London is already teasing us with the best spring summer 2019 fashion trends. One of the best trends to rule all our favourite spring outfits for 2019 is none other than beige. Although you might think of beige as being boring, all-neutral outfits are set to be a favourite amongst the ultra fashionable. Not only because it’s an incredibly easy colour to wear and match, but also because it’s classic. The best part? You can always add your own twist to your beige aesthetic to make it trendier. So how do you wear beige without looking boring?

Here are my three tips to make beige a bit more exciting:

1.Mix shades
Beige doesn’t have to be all one shade. I mixed in a bit of chocolate brown with my turtleneck and an almost ecru shade with my cream knee high boots. The different shades of beige add in a new dimension to the look.

2. Play with accessories
I wanted to give my otherwise classic look a bit of a twist. I removed the belt off my skirt and tied it over my oversized cardigan. I then added in a cowboy hat for a modern update! Accessories have a great way of changing an outfit and updating an otherwise classic look.

3. Beige is for everyone
A lot of brown girls I know are afraid of wearing beige because they feel it almost blends in with their skin tone. Beige looks great on everyone, which is why it’s such a classic and versatile colour. If you’re not ready to go monochrome with it just yet, try pairing it in with black or white, You’ll be hooked onto this classic shade in no time. Another great pairing is beige and gold!

If you live in a warm country and are already embracing spring, you can recreate this outfit with a beige t-shirt and high waisted skirt. Complete your outfit with a beige cowboy hat like mine and add in some boho accessories like layered necklaces, or even a chain for your sunglasses like I did here.

So, are you embracing the new neutral this year? I almost wish I saved this look for LFW but I’m so excited to share it with you guys already!

The easiest way to make any outfit look more expensive is with the right accessories. One of the biggest fashion trends to make a comeback is the headband, which also happens to be one of the easiest ways to make your next winter outfit look more luxe. The best part? You don’t have to break the bank to get the look! I’ve been reaching for headbands since I was a little girl (I wore on every day!) and although my friends poked fun at me about them all through school, I knew that one day they would all be reaching for one too. (Yes, I was even called Blair Waldorf regularly because of them but whatever, I was always Team B anyways)

Now you’ll find the headband on your favourite street style stars at fashion week (who’s been keeping their eyes on Paris Couture Week?) and across the runway at the likes of Prada, Miu Miu and Dior. Whether you’re looking for a basic one to get you started, a beautiful pearl one for something special or a lush velvet one like this, there’s something for everyone and they are usually under £50 (Of course you can get ones that are over if your budget allows! The Prada one’s are amazing). Now that’s an accessory to stock up on! The one I’m wearing is from Fenwick’s on Bond Street; they have a fab selection if you are ever in the area!

The best part about headbands is that they are the simplest way to complete an outfit. I wore this look to London Fashion Week a few seasons ago but it looks totally different, and so much better, just by adding the headband! If you’re wondering how to wear a headband, I recommend pushing your hair back with it and then pushing it slightly forward to get that slight puff in your hair. I’ve linked to a whole selection of them below, ready for you to shop!

LFW
SEPTEMBER 2018

Make sure your Ad Blocker is off so you can shop this page!

London Fashion Week September 2018 has been my most eventful one yet. This season I found that I was attending more shows and presentations than before and I was so excited to be able to support brands that I genuinely care about! It was amazing as always to see the beautiful collections the designers had put together, identify the trends for the next season (If it’s autumn winter trends for 2018 that you’re after, click here), meet other bloggers and friends who I don’t always get to see and of course admire the amazing street style! I’ve put together a little journal of my experience at London Fashion Week to share not only the amazing highlights but also a few parts that didn’t go according to plan.

Day One

My first LFW event kicked off with one of my favourite designers; Markus Lupfer. I was so excited to be able to attend the Markus Lupfer presentation this year, especially since it’s a brand I love so much. The space had been transformed into a beach dune and the models all wore beautiful sorbet shades. There were beautiful 80’s prints and one of my favourite outfits was a striped co-ord set. I also loved how the models were wearing mismatched earrings and the mix of feminine pieces with masculine hardware was gorgeous!

That evening I attended the Julien Macdonald runway show. The dresses were gorgeous and all so drool worthy and getting to see Winnie Harlow in person was amazing too! She is such a talent! I wore a Kooples Blazer dress and Louis Vuitton combat boots.

I wore an asymmetrical-hemmed white shirt dress from an Indian designer called Deme by Gabriella, with my Saint Laurent varsity jacket and my Prada belt bag. I was so excited to see how many of you loved this look and I’ve linked to my pieces and some similar more affordable options below.

Day Two

So, day two did not go according to plan at all. I

It was the Sunday at London Fashion Week and I had a standing ticket to the Ashish show. I’ve admired Ashish for a long time and I was very excited to finally have the chance to go see his collection first hand. When I arrived to the BFC show space I patiently waited in line to be let into the venue only to see that everyone with a standing allocation was being turned away (after our 45-minute wait!).

At first, I was feeling quite low and embarrassed about it but I quickly realised that I was surrounded by other bloggers and members of the industry who were far more established than I was and they were in the same boat as me. What happened was nothing personal and I  was just thankful to be able to be at London Fashion Week at all and to be able to cover these collections for you. I’m sure one day I will be able to attend the Ashish show and we can all celebrate that moment together but till then I am so thankful to be able to attend any shows at all!

Plus, I got some wonderful shots of my outfit. I wore a pink & Other Stories knit with a pink slip skirt. I love the contrast of the knit and the skirt and I of course dressed down the look with a pair of white sneakers. For my accessories, I placed my Chanel bag inside my clear bag from Shop Girl LA.

Day Three

On Day 3,  I had a catwalk show for Paul Costelloe. The collection was dreamy as it always is with lots of oversized outfits, beautiful maxi dresses and gorgeous pairings of fitted masculine blazers with flared mini skirts. A few of my favourite looks can be in the slideshow! Also, don’t miss the gorgeous pairing of the fishnet socks with the boots; totally a style trick to try right now!

With all my outfits for London Fashion Week, I wanted to focus more on dressing for myself rather than dressing for any street style photographers. I always find that everyone can see when you’re uncomfortable in what you’re wearing and there’s so much more to be said for being comfortable and confident in your own style! I was so glad that I decided to do that because I felt great in all my outfits!

To this show, I wore a ribbed white knit with pleated white trousers, my Dior embroidered flats, my Prada belt bag and a plaid blazer. Yes, I did wear the same bag to fashion week, twice, but I did style it in two different ways!

Day Four

My last and final day of London fashion week kicked off with a show at the BFC Showspace for Roberta Einer. I love her collection with it’s use of colour and embroidery and I particularly love her styling. One of my favourite looks was a printed hoodie paired with a slit skirt; the contrast was fabulous.

My final presentation was with Rixo London! It was their first time showing at LFW and I was so excited to be a part of this fantastic moment for the brand. Their new prints are actually available to shop on Net-A-Porter next week and I loved the diversity of models. One pair of models was actually a mother daughter duo!

I wore a cropped Zara blazer which I paired with my favourite maje pleated skirt. I always love to create contrasts between masculine and feminine pieces. This look also had a lot of details in it, including the hair clips in my hair!

How To Wear Your Favourite Plaid Skirt In The Spring

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to style a plaid skirt to create the perfect summer outfit featuring Maje, Zara and Dior

Plaid is trending this spring and here’s how to wear it…

When you’re thinking about summer outfits, you aren’t always thinking about plaid but if runway fashion has shown us anything, it’s that plaid is very much an all year round thing! I’ve always loved a good plaid skirt, and if you are a regular reader of my blog you would have noticed this for sure. Just last week, I shared an asymmetrical skirt that was, of course, a summer plaid print! I am all about making the most of the pieces in your wardrobe, and today I want to share a super chic plaid skirt outfit that you can wear this summer.

I paired my plaid skirt with a simple silk white cami and a cropped black blazer. The blazer is such an elegant shape and it made the perfect pairing with this skirt. It really makes the whole outfit look so much more luxe. I also love how the belt detailing on the blazer added a bit of shape to my silhouette and really helped define my waist! The two paired together make for an ultra high fashion look, even though the pieces are a mix of premium and high street fashion! (For more tips on how to make your outfit look expensive, check out this post!)

Something about this elegant summer outfit felt very retro and vintage to me. It’s the perfect look to rock on a day you are feeling most in touch with your inner Audrey Hepburn (WWAW – What Would Audrey Wear?). I completed the outfit with my favourite embroidered flats. The pointed toe on the flats makes me look taller even though I’m not wearing any heels. That’s a great tip I’ve picked up over the years and works very well if you’re petite like me! (For more tips on how to look taller in your outfit, check out my post on it here!)

How will you be bringing your favourite plaid skirt into summer?

This Is The Only Statement Sweater You Need This Spring….

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares a style trick for how to style a statement sweater for a cozy and cute spring summer outfit featuring Ba&sh and Chanel

A Piece That Is More Versatile Than You Think…

I’m not sure when the obsession with the slogan sweater began for me but I’m sure if I go digging through some of my childhood photographs, I’m sure to come across a few with me wearing statement sweaters and statement t-shirts! After all, some of the coolest casual outfits and street style looks to revolve around that slogan sweater; it literally provides the perfect spring summer outfit idea, just waiting for you to wear it!

This season I am obsessed with the coolest statement sweater that I spotted at Ba&sh. Anything with a pop of colour that reminds me of Paris is good in my books and I love how you can dress this piece up or down! I paired the sweater with a statement black skirt. The zips on this skirt let me adjust how high the slits on either side go, which means I can make an outfit casual like I did for this spring look, or I can make it a bit more formal! I love pieces that are versatile!

Like I said, you can dress this piece up or down. Pair it with your favourite denim mini or denim jeans for a more off-duty look. You can spice up something like that with a pair of kitten heels! You could even pair a statement hoodie like this with some faux leather leggings, some killer heels and statement earrings. The options are endless, but all outfit options I’ve tried and tested just for you! I love this hoodie from Ba&sh but if you’re looking for something similar and more affordable, I also found the cutest hoodie from & Other Stories. I have a feeling both these pieces are going to sell out pretty fast, so don’t forget to grab yours!

How do you like to style your slogan hoodies?

How To Style Your Blazer In A Completely New Way

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her style trick in how to style a blazer for a casual spring outfit idea featuring River Island, Maje, Louis Vuitton and Chanel

Take Your Blazer Into Spring…

There are certain things every girl should have in her wardrobe and a blazer is one of them. An easy way to make any outfit instantly chic, the blazer is the classic must have to perfect any casual spring outfit idea. When I say blazer, most of you usually think of them as a formal piece, however, I always like to style my blazer casually and today I’m showing you how to style a black blazer in a casual way for spring! This is one of the easiest fashion tips I’ve picked up recently and I just couldn’t wait to share it with you all so that you can create the perfect spring outfit! (Promise spring is almost here guys!)

This styling trick is simple. Instead of letting your blazer hang loose, tuck it into your bottoms as though it was a top! Leave the buttons open so that you can see your t-shirt underneath and voila! You have a totally new way to style your favourite blazer for a casual spring day! This is also a very neat layering trick that is sure to give you lots of outfit ideas! Personally, I went for this plain black blazer and paired it with one of my favourite statement tee’s from Shop Two Songs (I’m such an Aimee song fan!). I liked that there was a statement piece to pull the outfit together. With that in mind, I paired the look with cute yet classic beige bottoms from Maje! I’ve actually worn these a few times before here. It just goes to show that a good piece can be styled in so many different ways!

The blazer I’m wearing here is from River Island – I love their selection because it fits me really well as a petite girl. For other affordable spots to pick up a well fitting blazer, I would recommend Topshop & H&M. Boohoo and Missguided also have a cute selection!

Will you be trying this blazer trick anytime soon?

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker reveals her favourite colour to wear as millennial pink styling Sandro and Maje

Why I Will Always Love Millennial Pink

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker reveals her favourite colour to wear as millennial pink styling Sandro and Maje

Who Doesn’t Love Millennial Pink?

As 2017 comes to an end, I can’t help but wonder if everyone will stop loving “millennial” pink and start loving something else. Of course, it’s only natural that trends come and go but I for one, have always loved pink. Pastel, dusty or millennial, there is nothing pink that I can resist so of course, I have no intention of ever abandoning this colour. What I love most about this colour is how easy it is to style and match. One might think that pink is a difficult, if not statement colour, to wear and style but it’s quite the opposite. I find that my pastel pink pieces go with almost everything I own, regardless of the colour.

What I also love about pink is that it’s able to add a touch of femininity to any outfit I might style! For example, I’m not exactly one to put on a super sporty/athleisure look. (Although I was the captain of my varsity football/soccer team in high school!) I fell in love with this gorgeous hoodie from Sandro. Paired with jeans, it’s the perfect spin on athleisure but paired with this gorgeous Maje pink skirt, it’s an elegant outfit in the making! I love how the navy blue and white compliment the baby pink and of course the whole outfit was pulled together with my favourite new thigh high boots!

Of course, as luck would have it, Anastasija and I came across this beautiful, lit up, pink wall. Didn’t I say I couldn’t resist pink? It made for such a fun backdrop to an outfit that I know I’m going to be wearing on repeat so don’t be surprised if you see it at least a few more times on my Instagram!

What is a colour you can’t stop wearing and why?

How To Wear An All Red Look in Autumn

Editors Note: See how I styled this same skirt for London Fashion Week here or how I styled it with 3 Autumn Must -Haves here.

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker creates a fabulous red outfit showing you how to wear monochrome outfits this fall

This Is How You Create The Perfect Red Outfit For Fall…

Red happens to be one of my favorite colors and it also happens to be this season’s hottest shade to wear. Not only is it all about incorporating accents into your look, it’s about creating a top to toe red outfit! If you’re wondering how to wear monochrome, let alone how to wear red in the fall, I’ve got you covered with this outfit idea and a few tips to help you along the way. Trust me, you’re one step away from a street style look!

Pair With Subtle Colours. I think the best way to make a red outfit work for every day, is to incorporate some more subtle shades into your look. Since red is such a bold color, it helps to tone down the look by throwing in some beige and white. I threw over a light beige knit to make my outfit more wearable. My white shoes also broke up the white look and complimented by knit!

Mix & Match Shades. A monochrome look doesn’t mean it all has to be one shade! Try and mix and match different shades of red to create an interesting outfit combination! Try and work with shades that are brighter and lighter and see how you can put them together! For example, I would love to incorporate some burgundy into this look!

Be Confident. Last but not least, be confident! Wearing top to toe of any color can be quite intimidating. The key to pulling off a monochrome outfit is just being confident and carrying yourself with your head held high! Remember, confidence can make or break an outfit especially if you’re going for such a bold shade! I am sure that any monochrome look you wear is going to look great!
