How To Navigate The Black Friday Sales in 2020

BLACK FRIDAY 2020

Isn’t it insane that the festive season has already arrived? It feels like just yesterday we were thinking about what we would be doing in 2020. (I don’t think we thought quarantine would be the word of the year though!) What has not changed in the last year though is how stressful navigating Black Friday sales can be! Usually I avoid doing round ups but this year I thought that I would share a few tips and tricks I have picked up over the years when it comes to figuring out what to get and how to avoid those regret purchases!

Along with that, I’ve also highlighted some of my favourite picks from the likes of Farfetch (their selection is awesome, check it out here), Net-A-Porter, Topshop and more! Can’t wait to see if you find something you like!

Tip One: Come prepared

The biggest way to avoid a purchase that you regret later is to go into the sale knowing what you’re looking for. I always like to take a stock of what I already have, and what I need. Once I have that mental list in order, I filter through the selection and I know exactly what I need to add to my wardrobe!

Pro Tip: Always check your wishlist! You never know what’s on sale!

Tip Two: Don’t let the price fool you

One of the most common things that I hear is “Oh I bought this because the discount was so good” – Usually when your purchase is driven solely by price, you land up not wearing the piece at all! You’re better off spending a bit more for a piece you’ll wear much more! Remember what I always say; Cost-per-wear!

Tip Three: Don’t Change Your Size

I have made this mistake so many times. I bought a pair of shoes that was half a size too small because I thought “Ah it’s okay it will stretch”. They did not stretch. I never wore the shoes. The same goes for anything too big! Essentially, just because something is on sale doesn’t mean it’s worth buying if it isn’t going to fit you perfectly! You wouldn’t invest in it when it’s full price so this should be no different.

Here are some of my favourite sales picks. I’ve tried to highlight super-classic pieces that you will wear for a lifetime!

HAT-TASTIC

It may be Lockdown 2.0, but that isn’t stopping me from getting dressed up (Have you seen that on my Instagram? hehe!) After all, even daily walks can now be an occasion to wear your favourite sweater or those new ankle boots. My favourite accessory for every season is a good hat. It’s practical (keeps you warm!), it’s stylish, and in the winter, you can even nod to your inner self who does love a dose of Emily in Paris.

If you’re wondering what my favourite type is, it has to be a beret. Since I was a young girl, the beret was a hat that I always wanted to wear. It took me a while to “grow” into it, but now I’m slowly building one up in every colour. I love matching my beret to my outfit. It may be a little matchy but since when was that not something I leaned into right?

So, here are my selections for the best hats of the season!

Hello from Lockdown 2.0

HELLO AGAIN

Well, hello there! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been a bit quiet here on the blog. If I’m honest, I didn’t know what to say. So much has happened in the last year and we still have a month to go (Although we are hoping that the next few months are more positive and bright!) Either way, I wanted to come back on here and reconnect with YOU, my amazing digital family.

So what’s been up? Well, since March, although most of our plans were cancelled, we still managed to take a trip to the Netherlands. We’ve managed to spend some time with family. We’ve attended a few Zoom weddings, a few Zoom birthdays and even celebrated two of our very close family members get married, in person. Of course, we had our lows,  with one of the most significant blows being having to postpone our wedding. I would be lying if I said that a tear or two hadn’t been shed and that a feeling of helplessness hadn’t taken over at a few different moments along the journey.

At the same time, though, the overwhelming amount of positivity and hope provided by those around us really helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. Which is why I always want to remind you all of the same things. Good things are coming we just have to be patient, and it seems 2020 asks us to be a bit more patient. Even so, you’ve got this.
