My Top Tips To A Productive Work Day

Working for myself, and working by myself has taught me a lot. Although the life of a blogger seems super glamorous with all the events and beautiful photos, it’s actually incredibly challenging to stay on top of all the work and commitments, and also to stay productive and focused when you’re in a work environment that you’ve created yourself, with no set timings. With my experience having done this for a little while, I’ve picked up a few tips that are essential to being as productive as possible. I’ve been asked so many times about how I stay organised and top of everything so I thought I would share my top tips for a super productive day with you guys!

1

Create A To-Do List

This is one of the most important things to do. Creating a to-do list helps you keep track of all the things you need to do. Your list can change once, twice, or a hundred times during the day or during the week, but this will help you keep track of all the things you need to get done, making sure you don’t forget everything. I also find that having it all down on paper helps me get through the week and manage my work and time much better. Keep updating your list as you go and you’ll see that it makes a huge difference!

2

Be Realistic with your goals for the day

We might have as many hours in the day as Beyonce, but we still need to be realistic about how much we can achieve. Good work takes time, and whether you’re churning out articles, taking photos, writing up papers or calculating numbers, be realistic with how much you can get done in a day. Remember to breathe though – It’s so easy to get stressed and take your stress with you wherever you go then after work. Just take a few deep breaths and remember that whatever is happening, it can be done and achieved. A mind that is clear and calm is a mind that achieves more.

3

That being said, set goals!

On that note – set goals! If you want to feel a certain way after a day, if you want to achieve something, regardless of whether it’s something small or something big, set a goal for yourself for the week and see how close you get to achieving it. This will help you take the right steps to getting where you need to be. Putting it down on paper also really helps you work towards that and you’ll find yourself much more productive!

4

Prioritise your tasks

I find that by taking my to-do list and prioritising the tasks I need to get done, I am much more on top of my work. If you know you have something that needs to be dealt with earlier on, start with that. Prioritise your tasks by most important and tasks that can be dealt with later on in the day – this will help you stay ahead of the game and on top of all your deadlines! (I tend to do it by timing – so things to achieve before 12pm, things after..etc..)

5

Clean Your Workspace

A clean desk is so important to getting things done. When your workspace is clean and inspiring you will also feel more productive and inspired! Check out my Pinterest boards for some inspiring workspaces and desk spaces – makes me feel so much more inspired all the time!

The Coolest Colour Combination Around…

Spring is here and the March outfit ideas are all coming at you now! I’m so excited for all my spring and summer inspired outfits, especially because of all the gorgeous colours that we get to rock now that the sun is out! My favourite new colour combination involves a lot of pink and my other favourite colour, orange! (I also love red and pink – a classic!). Since the weather is much warmer now, I can finally pull out my suede jackets – starting with this blush pink one that matches so perfectly with my favourite orange sweater! I also loved being able to style the tie details of the skirt and the sweater together!

My accessories played a vital role in my outfit as well, I especially loved that my blush bag works so perfect with this colour combination. I also love my new Daniel Wellington watch! The classic feel adds the perfect finishing touch to the look! What do you guys think?

The cardigan just got edgy…

This is another one of the outfits that I got to shoot with the very talented photographer, Gaurav, while I was in Bombay during Christmas! The weather outside was boiling so we decided to shoot this particular look indoors. Luckily for you – this is the perfect look for the weather right now! I chose this combination because of the contrasts. I love that the sweater (Yes this is the same sweater I was wearing in Paris during PFW!) has a very elegant feel to it, especially with the pearl buttons and the stripes. I paired it with an edgier skirt from Deme by Gabrielle, a super cool designer based in India. I love the asymmetric hem of the skirt, and the slightly higher length on one side really provides that edgier feel that I was looking for with this outfit.

I kept everything else really simple because I love the statement that the two pieces in this look make! Paired with a simple black tee shirt and pointed flats – I had a winning combo! I had so much fun shooting this particular look and I hope you guys like it!

The Gucci Tee Strikes Again…

I’m writing to you not from London (which is where I usually am) and not from Bombay (which is where these photos were shot) but from Holland! I’m currently on a mini break in NL right now but I wanted to take this opportunity to share these photos that I shot while I was in Bombay over Christmas! I had the opportunity to shoot quite a few outfits with the very talented photographer there named Gaurav. All the outfits we shot however were for the warmer months so I’ve waited all this time to share them with you but I hope you like them!

This was one of my favourite looks from the ones we shot! Not only because I had just gotten the Gucci tee shirt at this time and was so in love with it (I am totally so in love with this tee shirt still – I can’t get over it!) but also because of how we shot it! I’m petrified of heights but we got up onto this tiny little terrace and Gaurav got up one level higher than me to shoot this! I was petrified of being so high up and leaning against the railing but the shots were so worth it and it was actually a lot of fun! I paired the tee shirt with what is actually a jumpsuit! I love the flared bottoms of this Reformation jumpsuit and thought it went perfectly with the vibe of the tee shirt (Love that jumpsuits are so multi purpose!) – the sunnies gave it that extra special retro feel!

Fashion and Beauty blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares the best skin care tips she learnt from her mother as well as a great idea for Mothers Day

What My Mother Taught Me About Skincare this Mother’s Day

Celebrating my mother & everything she’s taught me…

don’t think that we should celebrate our mothers on just one day, I think we should celebrate them on every day. They are there for us when we need them, they pick us up when we fall, they watch us grow and they guide us no matter what. My mum is like my best friend and what I love is that we get to share all our tips and tricks with each other, whether it be about fashion (Yes you all know I’ve taken her handbags and shoes – what amazing condition she’s kept them in!) or beauty. My mum always knows the answer to whatever it may be. So, to celebrate this Mothering Sunday, I’m sharing with you the five most important lessons my mother has taught me about skin care and beauty – after all, Mother knows best!

1

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!

There is literally no better medicine for your skin than water. You should be drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. My mum knows better than anyone that I am pretty useless at this on most days but when I do hydrate I notice an amazing difference in my skin – it’s so amazing what a little bit of water can do for you! Just by increasing my water intake, I felt like my break outs were less intense – this was when I was drinking at least 2 litres of water a day. I also suggest a glass of water after caffeinated drinks!

2

Never Sleep With Make-Up On

No matter what time you come home, no matter how many drinks you’ve had, no matter whether you’ve had a long hard day, NEVER, I repeat never, sleep with your make up on! Cleansing and washing your face before you go to bed is one of the most important things to do for your skin – it allows your skin to breathe and prevents further break outs. I like to moisturise my face before I sleep as well with an almond oil.

3

Keep It Natural

My mother is so conscious about what she puts on her skin and by extension so am I. I try to go for products that are natural – after all putting a ton of chemicals on your face is not really healthy! I like to go for products that have natural ingredients and also that suit my skin. It’s so important to try and see what suits you and go with that! This isn’t just about what you put on your face – it’s also about your hair!. Try and keep your hair away from your face as much as possible to prevent break outs and make sure you are using a shampoo that is kind not only to your hair but also to your scalp and skin.

4

Eat For Your Skin

Eating habits are so important for having good skin. Everything in moderation and making sure that you’re getting your vitamins is important for healthy glowing skin. I’ve recently cut down massively on my refined sugar intake and have of course been eating better (thanks mum!) and I’ve seen a huge difference in my skin! Eating with the season is also very important – try to avoid anything that makes your body feel to heavy because that usually results in your skin breaking out! (Dried fruits are such a huge culprit, although they seem like such a good snack – avoid! Replace them with almonds instead, good for your skin and good for your metabolism!)

5

It’s About What’s On the Inside

To look and feel good on the outside, means you need to look and feel good on the inside. No matter what, always remember that beauty on the inside leads to a glow on the outside! When you feel happy, when you start the day with a positive note, it shows on the outside and it shows on your skin. I see that first hand – on days when Im upset my skin reacts as badly as I am feeling! So try to stay positive and keep the good vibes flowing!

I wish I was with my mom to celebrate Mother’s Day with her but she knows I’m sending her so much love from London! If you’re looking to treat your mum to some special beauty products this Mothers Day, why not check out the Debenhams beauty section? They sent me a little goodie package to share with my mum and it really has the cutest things!

Thank you Debenhams for patterning with me on this post.

Revealing your new favourite time piece

I have the pleasure of being one of the influencers to reveal the brand new Daniel Wellington watch, The Classic Petite, to none other than you! When I received the watch in the mail a few weeks ago I wanted to post about it immediately but had to stay quiet until it was officially released and now the time has finally come! I immediately fell in love with the super sleek and minimalistic design of the watch which makes it the perfect companion for every day – keeping me on track and in style!

This is the first time that Daniel Wellington is doing a mesh strap, but what I also love most about this watch, is that it’s petite! For a small wrist like mine, this watch is perfect because not only does it not over power your look, but it’s also incredibly feminine which means it matches with everything and anything! I mean, what else could you ask for a watch? I think this one has it all!

The watch is available in gold and silver and with a white or black face. Check out all the designs on the Daniel Wellington website.

Bringing Embroidered Star Jeans to Spring

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker showcases her embroidered star jeans from Paige in a spring outfit

Seeing Stars….on my jeans!

It is no surprise to anyone that I LOVE embroidery. I’ve gone on and on about how it has something to do with the fact that I am Indian so all the pretty and beautiful embroidery work I grew up with has obviously oozed into my current day wardrobe. So, when I saw these jeans with the stars embroidered on to them I really didn’t have to think twice about it. Modern day embroidery, on one of the best fitting jeans I own! I mean, who could say no to that?

I love the colour of the jeans as well, it’s the perfect blue, Which is harder than you would think to find by the way! The classic thing to do would be to pair it with a contrasting colour or a crisp classic like white. I wanted to experiment with colour (You know that colour is the new thing for spring right?) so I decided to pair this look with one of my favourite body suits EVER. This beauty is from a company called Alix NYC – not only is the colour the most beautiful green ever, but it is also silk! (Silkkkkk Sneaker!) The fit is unbelievable and the quality is of course also great making it a piece you can literally wear any day, any time.
