Rewind: January 2016. It’s freezing cold outside, I am bundled up in a hundred and one layers and all I want is for the wind to stop blowing and the sun to come out. Fast forward: Present. It’s so funny how much that’s changed. After an amazing summer of sunshine (London you surprised me!) I am ready for my coats and boots to come out! What better way to welcome, or rather force in autumn, than with the colours of autumn themselves? I’m sure all the pumpkin spice latte fans around the world are rejoicing as I write this (Believe it or not… I am not a pumpkin spice latte fan.)
Growing up in India had it’s perks – It was always 30 degrees celsius, sunny and hot. It didn’t matter what day it was or what month it was, we were in a perpetual state of spring and summer! As amazing as living in shorts was, I longed to be able to wear light knits, suede skirts and boots and enjoy autumn in Europe. (I only ever pulled out my warm clothes for my winter holidays in Europe, but we always missed autumn!) Now that London is my home, I get to rock this brown suede skirt all season long!

It seems the world of fashion is currently buzzing with all sorts of sentiments regarding the words of a few editors from a major publication. I’ve been told time and time again that my readers would love to hear more about me personally rather than just the clothes I wear, and with this in mind I’m trying to bring you more personal content, starting with this incredibly personal reflection about the thoughts reflected in the article that I read.
What initially drew me to the world of blogging was the idea of an online community of like minded individuals who are simply here to create, share and empower one another.
To be able to connect with the style of a girl who is sitting in India, America or here in the United Kingdom all through a platform that you pour your heart and soul into, is no easy feat yet is truly one to cherish. The connections and relationships you build through doing what I do is what makes me love blogging even more, not to mention the abundance of creative freedom and ability to express yourself on your own terms.
The fact that bloggers are admired and sought after for their opinions and style is an amazing evolution in the world of fashion – Consumers are looking up to individuals who they feel a strong connection with, a connection that goes far past the glossy pages of a magazine. What so many individuals admire about bloggers is how accessible they are. With the rise of social media, bloggers and even brands are able to become much more interconnected with customers, readers and individuals around the world. Suddenly you have a community who reacts actively and engages with you immediately – not something that is easy to achieve by any means.

Don’t get me wrong, I have masses of respect for the people who work at such large publications . It takes a lot of time and effort to churn out a magazine every month that abides by the incredibly high standards that have been set out. At the same time though, it does not give anyone the right to judge the individuals who may not sit behind a desk everyday, but nevertheless work incredibly hard at their craft. One might even suggest that blogging is almost harder. Building a brand is no easy task, especially when you have to build it around yourself, with no large name to fall back upon and the momentous task of being able to be heard through the noise. Yes, bloggers have sponsored looks and are sometimes given clothes to wear, but how does that give a publication to demean them when the publication itself receives masses of funds from advertising, features street stars all over it’s international magazines and street style features, and has paid for editorials and product features themselves. I don’t think that we should hold the words of a few individuals as being the voice of an entire publication, but I of course understand why everyone is incredibly offended by being called “pathetic” and being blamed for “heralding the death of style”
This is not the first time that I have heard such sentiments being expressed about bloggers and unfortunately I am sure it will not be the last. It saddens me to say that I get all sorts of snide comments and condescending looks when I tell people that I am a blogger and that that is my living. If there is anything to take away from this situation, it is that whether the comments are coming from your peers, from strangers or from a couple of editors, we live in a world where women need to empower other women. We need to empower one another to do what we do best, to give whatever we choose to do our 100% and to excel in our craft, no matter what path we choose, whether it be blogging, or anything else.

One of the things I love about being a blogger is the friends you make and all the fun opportunities to work together! So when the gorgeous girls of My Eunoia reached out to me about doing a collaboration I was super exited! They came up with a superb idea, where we each got to recreate the others looks and put our own spin on it, a.k.a a blogger outfit swap! To kick things off on my side, I’m recreating a look put together from a few of Harleen’s style! I love that she goes for pieces that are asymmetric, with short fronts and long backs! Plus the gorgeous blue she wears here, really inspired me as well! Check out Harleen‘s look here and Jasmine’s looks here and stay tuned for my swap with Jasmine!

For the second instalment of my outfit swap with the girls from My Eunoia, I got to do a little outfit stalk of Jasmine’s looks and re-create one with a little TSS touch. Inspired by a romper and sleeveless jacket combination that Jasmine styled and my tendency to wanter layer everything on top of everything the minute the weather starts to drop (who doesn’t love a layered look for autumn?), I opted for this gorgeous tartan piece. I love how quintessentially British this pattern is and autumn seems like the perfect time to wear it! Have you got your layering game on already?

Okay I’m not going to pretend like I have perfect nails all the time – I don’t. I am guilty of picking my shellac when it starts to give way. I am guilty of chipping away my nail polish if it gets a tiny smudge. I am also guilty of being pretty bad at putting nail polish on myself but you know what? I love nail polish either way! Something about having pretty nails always makes a wonderful first impression. So with that spirit, my favourite autumn nail colours are has follows!
I love this burnt orange shade, it adds such a beautiful pop of colour to the darker tones we see during fall! Get this shade from Essie here!

A dark blue is not as stark as black but still gives the same effect! I love this shade – you can get it from OPI here!

A good nude on your nails will never let you down – I love it for a day of meetings and lots of running around to do! Get this shade from Smith & Cult here!

You can never go wrong with a deep red. It’s a gorgeous shade for fall, especially when you have a weekend of activities planned! See more of this shade from Chanel here!

I think one of my favourite nail colours is a baby pink – It’s so feminine and always makes me feel so pretty! (Plus makes for a god insta…#doitfortheinsta). Get this one from Nails Inc here!

Suddenly every outfit you previously thought of disappears in a *poof*. When you try to remember what exactly you have in your closet, again *poof*. Every single woman I know has experienced this traumatising morning experience, and trust me, there is nothing worse than walking out feeling like you could have looked better. Luckily for you, I’m about to let you in on a secret – I’m going to show you the one thing you need in your life to make sure you always feel and look your best. Let me introduce you to Stylishly.

I’ve been asked so many times, how do I get ready and know exactly what to wear? The answer is much simpler than you would imagine – I have Stylishly, the coolest new fashion app around.
Stylishly puts my entire wardrobe on my phone at my fingertips. I can figure out what I’m wearing to that party on Friday or to my meeting tomorrow, no matter where I am or what I’m doing.

I loved putting all my clothes on the app because it was a great way for me to remember all the pieces at the back of my closet that I adore and to get rid of all the clothes I know don’t suit me anymore!
(If you are feeling super lazy though, treat yourself to some VIP treatment and the Stylishly team will come in and photograph all your clothes and put it on the app for you!)

My favourite part about Stylishly that makes it better than the other closet apps out there, is the fact that it’s social.
One of the fun things about fashion is sharing your looks with your friends and getting opinions – you can create a look and send it to your friends and get their input too! Feeling a bit more personal? You can take a peek right into their closet and style something for them!

Stylishly will style outfits for me based on what I have in my closet, and it’ll even show me all the products out there that would go perfectly with my wardrobe! (Uh, did this app just find my next dream bag/sweater/ring? Yes it did! Cha-ching) Once it shows you all the things you have and all the things you need, you can even shop from the app!
So, an app that puts your whole closet on your phone, lets you shop, and let’s you and your friends style looks for each other? Forget the Clueless interface, your most stylish friend is here, and she’s here to stay!
