A Peek Inside My Shoe Closet: Gianvito Rossi Satin Lace Up Heels

THE GIANVITO ROSSI HEELS THAT STOLE MY HEART

For months now I’ve been getting requests to show you guys my shoe collection. It’s no secret that shoes are my weakness and over the years I’ve built up a collection of luxury shoes that I am so excited to share with you in my newest series; A Peek Inside My Shoe Closet. In this series, I’ll be sharing my favourite pairs of luxury shoes, where to buy them, whether they are worth the investment and what their wear and tear is like over the years. I will also be sharing extra tips on how to take care of your prized pairs so that they last forever!

You guys voted on my Instagram Stories for what the first pair of the series should be and this was the pair that won by a landslide. This also happens to be one of my favourite pairs in my shoe closet; My Gianvito Rossi satin tie-up heels.

Quality

I bought these shoes a couple of years ago but they still look as good as new. I am very careful about where I wear these shoes as satin is such a delicate fabric but Gianvito Rossi has some of the finest quality shoes in the world in my opinion. The actual quality of the material is well worth the price.

Design

I think that the design of a pair of heels is so important as well especially if you are investing your hard earned money into it. I love the lace-up details on these heels. It’s a chic upgrade to your go-to pumps. The colour is also a statement but works well with almost anything (Think black, white, neutrals. Pink if you’re really a risk taker!)

Comfort

In my opinion, Gianvito Rossi makes some of the most comfortable heels. They have a lot of support and are not painful like some other pairs. I’ve actually spent an entire night on my feet from 8 pm until 5 am the next morning (yes, sometimes I have wild nights) dancing in a pair of Rossi’s. If that doesn’t tell you how comfortable they are then I don’t know what will!

Care

Here are a few tips for taking care of your satin/silk shoes.
1. Keep each individual shoe in a separate shoe bag. You don’t want the pair to rub together and scuff or ruin the material.
2. Make sure that nothing else is touching the shoe as this can snag the material.
3. Watch the weather on days you choose to wear satin shoes. Keep away from snow, rain or too much moisture. These are shoes for an indoor party! Consult your local cobbler about a potential waterproofing spray for your pair if you’re afraid of any drinks spilling on them!

The Best New Luxury Beauty Products To Invest In This Month

Beauty to fall in love with.

When it comes to new beauty products, I must admit that I am a huge fan of makeup. Although I’ve found a lot of amazing beauty finds, I really wanted to focus on three amazing new makeup finds that need to be a part of your make up routine! I’ve spent so much of my time investing in and trying out luxury and designer make up brands but now I really want to share my thoughts and experiences with you guys so you know what’s worth a buy and what’s best left on the shelf! The focus this month was trying to find the best summer makeup, products that stay on your face and look fabulous regardless of the scorching heat and sun!

From all the latest beauty and makeup releases, these three products are my best beauty products for the month. First, in my search for the perfect everyday foundation, I have found the best results in the Armani Face Fabric. Second, I have this cult favourite; the Hourglass Veil Powder, my new favourite translucent powder to keep makeup in place. Third, I have the best highlighter I’ve used in a long time from Cover Fx. GIORGIO ARMANI FACE FABRIC

Recently, a lot of you have been asking me for a good everyday foundation or BB Cream. The issue is that a tinted moisturiser is not enough coverage and a foundation is just too much. Luckily, the new Giorgio Armani Face Fabric is the perfect answer as it is just in between the two.

Coverage: Light to Medium
Finish: In Between Matte & Dewy; perfectly natural!
Why I Love It: The natural finish is perfect for every day making you look radiant and flawless. Does not react with sensitive skin. After using the sample for one week I got so many compliments, I bought a tube and am addicted!
What I Don’t Like: It’s not SPF so make sure that you are using a good SPF underneath it! I suggest the Avene SPF range or Perricone MD.

HOURGLASS VEIL TRANSLUCENT SETTING POWDER

Setting powder is a must-have in your make up routine but some girls shy away from it as it can make your face look extra powdery. The right setting powder will actually keep your make up in place, help it look more natural and blend in all the different aspects of your makeup. That is exactly what this Hourglass powder does. No wonder it has such a long waiting list!

Why I Love It: It’s got a slight shimmer and rather than being white it’s got a yellow tint which blends into your skin naturally. The finish is incredibly natural so its perfect for the no-makeup makeup look!

COVER FX CUSTOM ENHANCER DROPS

Highlighters are my favourite things to try and test because they are something I like to wear every day. It’s such an easy way to enhance your routine! Its been a long time though since I fell in love with a highlighter the way I’ve fallen in love with these drops from Cover FX. They come in fabulous shades, but if you’re more tanned like me then go for shade Sunshine. It has a beautiful undertone perfect for skin tones like mine.

Why I Love It: The pigment is so strong so you only need a little bit but the highlight you get is so natural and breathtaking! The compliments will roll in!
Be Aware: This dries very quickly, so you need to work fast when you’re using it. I apply a drop or two on my cheekbones and then blend quickly before doing the other side.

How To Style The Two Most Popular Pieces on The High Street for A Cute Summer Outfit…

Combining the best of the high street for the best summer outfit…

Every season, there are some high street pieces that start to blow up on our Instagrams and this season it’s all about this beautiful summer blouse from Zara and the perfect button down maxi skirt from Topshop. The great thing about these two pieces is that not only are they both well under £100, they can be styled together! I wanted to share with you how I styled the two most popular high street pieces for the season, into one very chic summer outfit.

This white Zara top is completely on trend for this summer with its puffy sleeves and shell button details. Since a top like this is quite voluminous on the top half of your body, you want something a bit straighter cut for the bottom. Enter the cutest maxi skirt ever! I love the mustard stripes on this maxi and the asymmetrical hem! This striped skirt is so popular that Topshop has actually made a few colour variations of it, and a super similar version has popped up on ASOS too. Is this the skirt style of the summer? I think so!

The key to really making a high street outfit yours is accessories. I wanted to add some definition to my waist so I added in this vintage gold chain belt This is a great way to wear a maxi skirt without looking too short, especially if you are petite like me. I also wanted to make this look a little more chic and elegant so I opted for my vintage Chanel slingback heels and these beautiful earrings that I found at Fenwicks in London. I love how the colours matched together so perfectly!

The Three Apps I Use To Create My Instagram Stories

Let’s Create Those Beautiful Instagram Stories…

I think I get a DM almost every day on my Instagram asking me how I create my Instagram stories, what apps I use to create them, do I use a template for Instagram stories, and so on and so forth. That’s why I’ve decided it’s time to spill my secrets of the trade and share with you the three must-have apps to create beautiful Instagram stories. Don’t forget to tag @thesilksneaker or #inspiredbyTSS if you use these apps to create some super artsy stories, so that I can see them and share your work too! Now, keep in mind, that when I create my Instagram stories, no one app makes them look the way they do. I put a lot of time, effort and creativity into the work I put out for you guys, however, these three apps allow me to translate my ideas into reality for Instagram! Now let’s get cracking, or should I say, snapping!

Over

Over is like an easy photoshop for your phone. It allows you to layer images with shapes and text. It has a wide variety of fonts to choose from, as well as other features including stickers, fun backgrounds and more. I mainly use this app to create the white frames in my images and to sometimes add in text in specific fonts that Instagram stories does not offer.

Video Leap

You guys have been loving the way I have moving images layered with still images in my Instagram stories and the way I am able to layer photos and videos on my phone is using Video Leap. Video Leap works like a film editing software that you would have on your computer, except on your phone! It’s a great way to create fun little videos!

After Light

Afterlight is a photo editing app that allows you to also add polaroid frames to your photos. It’s how I’ve been adding all the polaroid frames to my images for my Instagram stories. It also has other fun effects like the light leaks, where you can add different light flares in different colours to your images. There are two versions of it, Afterlight and Afterlight 2. Afterlight 2 does not offer the frames so I would go for Afterlight.

Why You’re Going To Live In This Summer Co-Ord From This Amazing Emerging Designer…

The Dream Co-Ord Set…

There’s nothing cuter than the perfect co-ord set, but finding a co-ord that isn’t hanging in everyone’s closet can be difficult, especially when you’re trying to find the perfect summer outfit that is both casual and cute!. Last week a dear (and very fashionable) friend of mine and I were walking down the street when we spotted another woman, in the exact some co-ord set as my friend. Although we laughed in the moment, I realised that finding that perfect set is not as easy as it looks! That’s why I always like to look to emerging designers, for their fresh pieces and unique style. When I was in India most recently, my mum and I stumbled across an adorable store set in the heart of Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda district; Obataimu.

The super friendly designer was there herself and not only did she walk me through her collection and concept, but I also got to go through to see her beautiful workshop. I immediately fell in love with this amazing Indian brand and their laidback pieces; specifically, a super cute co-ord set I found hanging in her store.

The pyjama style top and pants are made of linen and have a simple black piping. The pieces are all made to order so you are guaranteed a perfect fit and the no-fuss style of them makes each piece in this co-ord easy to match with anything else in your wardrobe as well. You might remember these pants from my Instagram post on my birthday most recently; I wore them with a blue crop top! I found this beautiful waist belt at Zara that I immediately fell in love for because of the chic colour combination and material. It also happened to match perfectly with my set! I kept things chic and classic with my vintage Chanel heels and this mini silk Chanel bag. For a burst of colour, I added in these Cult Gaia sea glass hoops.

Just a quick note about these hoops; Although Cult Gaia is mainly known for their bags, they also happen to make beautiful jewellery and clothes. This is a great investment if you’re looking for cool jewellery to invest in that is a little different than the usual go-to’s!

Why I Think This Designer T Shirt Is A Better Investment Than The Gucci T Shirt

The Battle of The Luxury T-Shirt; Gucci vs…

In the past few years, we’ve seen a rise of luxury houses churn out cult designer t shirts. We’ve seen it with Dior (Think, “We Should All Be Feminists” the first runway look of Maria Grazia Chiuri to come down the runway), Chanel (from their Cuba collection) and of course, the ever famous Gucci t shirt. Not only does Gucci have one cult t shirt, they have two! This season they came out with another one that everyone is racing to get their hands on. That being said, I am not racing for that second one (yes, I admit I have the first one which I styled ages ago in this post here.. how things have changed!) because I think that there is another designer t shirt that is a much better investment than the Gucci t shirt (gasp! the shock and horror!); The Saint Laurent Logo T Shirt.

When investing in a designer t shirt you need to consider more than whether the piece is trendy at the moment. The ones that are worth the investment, are the ones that stand the test of time for you personally. The Saint Laurent Logo T-Shirt, which has as much of a cult following as the Gucci one, is a piece that you will be able to style today, tomorrow and for years after that. While it dabbles in logomania with the original YSL logo from their first store in Paris in the centre, the logo’s size makes this t-shirt so much more wearable, subtle and chic. I also love the acid wash effect, an immediate cool girl factor.

This is a super cool luxury investment that is subtle enough for you to style and keep in your wardrobe for more than just a season or trend cycle. I think that is one of the most important factors when it comes to purchasing luxury goods.

I styled my new favourite t shirt with a Topshop white denim skirt. I always have a certain amount of key basics that I stock up on from the high street. I think Topshop has an amazing denim selection and I always have at least two denim skirts from them in my wardrobe. I love the mix of light colours for summer; so fresh! The look was complete with some statement Dior slides and these adorable & Other Stories sunglasses. Talk about a high low mix!

Luxe Meets High Street: A Summer Outfit For The City

A Summer Outfit With a High Low Mix…

When I’m looking to create summer outfits, my style inspiration always comes from mixing a beautiful luxe piece with my favourite high street find. This outfit really focuses on that, specifically on styling this your favourite, delicate/lace/sheer summer top. I picked up this beautiful black top with the lace and sheer detailing (currently on sale!) from Fenwick Bond Street. It’s from Sea NYC, a luxe premium brand who have the most beautiful summer blouses; well worth the investment if you’re looking for a real show-stopping summer top. Since this top is such a statement, I wanted to pair it with something that would dress it down for a day out. I paired it with my favourite khaki shorts from Miss Selfridge. What I love about these shorts is that although they are from a fast fashion brand, they are a timeless style and colour that is sure to last you for more than one season! That’s called smart high street buying!

My top needed some more definition around my waist so I put my favourite waist belt on top. To really hit the balance just right, I paired this look with my favourite gold heels from Jimmy Choo. Remember, I always say a good pair of heels can make any outfit look more luxe. If you wanted this look to be a bit more casual, I would pair it with your favourite summer sandals; preferably lace up ones like these ones.

Monday Update #56

Happy Monday! Honestly guys, I woke up this morning and thought to myself, why aren’t three day weekends a thing? Who’s with me!

There are some really exciting things coming your way over the next few weeks. A lot of you are constantly asking me how I edit my Instagram stories.
