Every season, there are some high street pieces that start to blow up on our Instagrams and this season it’s all about this beautiful summer blouse from Zara and the perfect button down maxi skirt from Topshop. The great thing about these two pieces is that not only are they both well under £100, they can be styled together! I wanted to share with you how I styled the two most popular high street pieces for the season, into one very chic summer outfit.

This white Zara top is completely on trend for this summer with its puffy sleeves and shell button details. Since a top like this is quite voluminous on the top half of your body, you want something a bit straighter cut for the bottom. Enter the cutest maxi skirt ever! I love the mustard stripes on this maxi and the asymmetrical hem! This striped skirt is so popular that Topshop has actually made a few colour variations of it, and a super similar version has popped up on ASOS too. Is this the skirt style of the summer? I think so!

The key to really making a high street outfit yours is accessories. I wanted to add some definition to my waist so I added in this vintage gold chain belt This is a great way to wear a maxi skirt without looking too short, especially if you are petite like me. I also wanted to make this look a little more chic and elegant so I opted for my vintage Chanel slingback heels and these beautiful earrings that I found at Fenwicks in London. I love how the colours matched together so perfectly!

How To Wear A Maxi Skirt In Your City Now

Your Maxi Skirt Isn’t Just For The Beach…

Firstly, can anyone else believe it’s August?! Where has the time gone? Or rather, where has summer gone? I’m happy that everyone has a few more holidays in their calendars before we say “see you later” to summer. With that in mind, I know that many of you think it’s time to abandon your favourite summer items. Hold on just a little longer! I’m here to tell you that you can make the most of your maxi skirt and show you how to wear a maxi skirt in the city. Your favourite beach piece just got a city upgrade with this maxi skirt outfit! Red is having a major moment and it’s very much around for the next season. It also happens to be one of my favourite colours so I am more than happy to hold on to this Zara maxi! As someone very petite you would think that I can’t wear maxi’s but if you’re a petite girl like me, I’m telling you you can! (In fact, read my post here on how to look taller!) I paired my maxi with my favourite Gucci tee. By tying the tee shirt and showing a bit of midriff skin, I’m able to look a bit taller and not get lost in the loose silhouette of the skirt! How to Wear Pastels This Spring/Summer

Pastels and Colours are the way forward…

With the sun finally starting to shine down on us, there is no better time to start adding pastels to your wardrobe. One of my favourite pieces, even for a petite girl like me, is the maxi skirt. Creating maxi skirt outfits for summer is one of my favourite parts of the season. When I found a maxi skirt that was a pastel skirt too, I knew I had to have it! I love how the different colours come together in this skirt, making it the perfect statement piece for your spring/summer wardrobe! What I also love about this skirt is the material. Because it’s a very lightweight knit (and I mean very light weight, I did buy it in Bombay after all!) the skirt is perfect for a day in the city. At the same time, the length and fit of it give it that romantic summer vibe! After all, I constantly find myself dreaming of the Amalfi coast! The colours of the skirt also paired so perfectly with my denim jacket, which is my current favourite denim piece right now! It was an effortless combination if I do say so myself!
