The Insider Tips To Seeing Jamaica Like The Locals Do…
Visiting Jamaica was one of the highlights of my summer this year and summer has just begun! This beautiful country has so much to offer, from fabulous food, nature, sun, sea and sand! If you are planning a trip to Jamaica this summer or this December, I’ve put together four things to do in Jamaica that you just cannot miss out on. These are not four things that every tourist is recommended, these were three of my favourite spots, all shown to me by one of my best friends who also happens to have grown up there! That’s how you know that you’re going for an authentic experience!

Lime Cay
In the middle of the sea is a secluded floating island with nothing and no one on it. It is literally an untouched paradise with beautiful blue water all around. This is Lime Cay. You can start your morning by taking a boat out to the island (you can arrange for the same boat to come pick you up!) and spend a wonderful morning and afternoon on this beautiful island. Pack everything you need with you though because there is literally nothing else on it! Private beach anyone?
EITS Cafe
One of the most beautiful views I got of Jamaica was on our very first day there when we went up to EITS Cafe; which stands for Europe in the Summer. In the middle of the beautiful Jamaican mountains, there is this tiny cafe with lovely food, an incredibly friendly owner and a view that will take your breath away. I highly recommend ordering the rum punch when you’re out there too! It’s fabulous! Don’t forget the plantain and the rice and beans on the side!

Port Antonio
When most people plan a trip to Jamaica, they think of Montego Bay. Instead of doing what everyone is doing, why not try something different but equally as beautiful; Port Antonio. You go to Port Antonio to do nothing but relax and swim! We stayed in a stunning villa which you can also rent as well. Here are all the details on it. If you’d rather stay in a hotel, The Trident is the local boutique hotel in the area. It also happens to be where Beyonce stayed and if it’s good enough for Queen Bee, it’s good enough for us all!
Rafting Down The Rio Grande River
Another amazing experience is taking the rafts down the rio grande river. Don’t worry, this is not an extreme sport. Sit back and relax while your raft is guided down this beautiful, un touched river. You can stop for lunch on the bank of the Rio Grande for a specially cooked local lunch as well. This was one of my favourite days in Jamaica!
This happens in Port Antonio!
