The 3 Accessories You Need To Add To Your Closet Now

ON TREND

A quick scroll through your Instagram and you’ll realise that there are a few accessories that you’re starting to see everywhere. You might have noticed the rise and return of the headband and that massive Gucci hair clip, or maybe you’ve got your eye on finally investing in that bum bag in your wishlist. It could be that you’ve seen an influx of white shoes ( I mean you cannot ignore the white heeled boots and the white cowboy boots taking over the street style scene). Either way, it’s no secret that there are certain accessories trends for this year and it’s time to get ahead! If I could only add three accessories to my wardrobe to be in fashion for spring summer 2019, this is what they would be.

Remember, I always think accessories are worth the investment. If you choose wisely, your piece can last you forever, no matter if it’s in trend or not (it all comes down to styling really!) I’ve curated this list for you so no matter what you pick, you’ll be making the right choice. The best part? You’ll love it for more than just one season.

HAIR ACCESSORIES

Firstly, it’s no secret that I love a good headband moment. Go for velvet, pearls or whatever else, headbands have made a massive comeback, as have hair accessories in general. Hair clips, like embellished pearl ones or massive logo ones like the Gucci hair clip, are also having their moment in the sun and I imagine it will be a long time before they go. Don’t worry, you don’t have to run to your nearest Gucci store to look elegant. Instead, shop my curated collection below to get the look and still look as luxe as ever.

BUM BAGS

In 2018, we saw the rise of the bum bag (or belt bag, whatever you want to call it!) Everyone was after the Gucci belt bag, and this year Dior has released a saddle bag bum bag! Essentially, this style of bag is not going anywhere soon. What’s great about this style is that you can wear it in so many different ways (Keep an eye on my IGTV for more on this). I really adore this one from Montunas, and of course, I love the Dior one. I’ve also linked to some other fabulous versions below from Gucci, Prada and also some high street stores for more affordable options.

WHITE SHOES

A lot of people used to think that white shoes were too 80’s but guess what? The ’80s are back and so is the white shoe but with a modern update. Opt for a pair of white heeled boots like the ones I’ve been wearing, or you can go for a double trend and grab a pair of white cowboy boots. Either way, white boots, white sandals and white heels are going to dominate the 2019 fashion trends so be sure to grab a pair from my edit below.

One of the biggest trends for autumn winter 2018 have been belt bags, or better known as the bum bag. This 90’s revival got a high fashion update with everyone from your favourite bloggers to your most stylish friends sporting one. I remember sharing one of my first belt bags about 2 years ago now in this post so when I saw that everyone wanted to know how to wear a belt bag, I was so excited to get my new Prada one out! The best part about these bags is that there are so many different ways to wear them. You can wear your belt bag with jeans, over dresses and even over your jacket. Here are my favourite ways:

1. Wear your belt bag as a crossbody.
I like to sling my belt bag over my shoulder to wear it like a cross body for a more model-off-duty look. I love how easy it is to wear it this way and this is the easiest way to style it with any outfit. Try this way with your next sweater and jeans combo for an instant update to a go-to look.

2. As a waist belt
You can wear your belt bag with your jeans as a belt or over looser dresses as a waist belt. It’s a great way to add some definition to your outfit so that you look taller too! I used it here to make this loose dress more fit.

3. Over your favourite jacket
You can wear your belt bag as a winter accessory that you don’t have to hide away! Wear it over your favourite blazer for these chilly autumn days and as you move to your winter coats, belt it over your straight fit coats (like this one) for a really cool winter outfit!

How To Style An All Black Outfit Like A Fashion Insider

BACK IN BLACK

A little while ago I spent a day with fashion mega house Farfetch, learning all about their new watches and jewellery department and their collaboration with watchmakers Uniform Wares. Of course, for an occasion like this, I needed an outfit to match and I always say, when in doubt, go for an all black outfit. Some of you might think that an all black outfit is boring, or simply not inspiring enough but today I wanted to share with you the number one style trick on how to wear an all black outfit and still look incredible; mix textures.

The key to making any outfit pop is to try and mix in textures and patterns to add different points of interests. In regards to how to style all black, the rules are the same. I opted for a whopping four different textures in one look through my various details. My top, which I actually bought on Farfetch a few months ago, is a mix of knit and sheer. It’s the perfect autumn blouse and also adds an element of pattern with its stripes. My high waisted leather pants were a gift from Farfetch for the event and I love the boldness the vinyl brings to the look. Pro tip: lotion your legs and your pants to stop them from squeaking!

My accessories then complemented my look from my Prada belt bag in soft leather to my Uniform Wares watch with its beautiful suede strap. I actually got to customise my own strap which will be arriving in the next few weeks! All their materials are actually the same materials used by some of the biggest fashion houses in the world, but of course for much less! Now that’s luxury, isn’t it?

This post is not sponsored by Farfetch but thank you to Farfetch for gifting me these trousers.

LFW
SEPTEMBER 2018

London Fashion Week September 2018 has been my most eventful one yet. This season I found that I was attending more shows and presentations than before and I was so excited to be able to support brands that I genuinely care about! It was amazing as always to see the beautiful collections the designers had put together, identify the trends for the next season (If it’s autumn winter trends for 2018 that you’re after, click here), meet other bloggers and friends who I don’t always get to see and of course admire the amazing street style! I’ve put together a little journal of my experience at London Fashion Week to share not only the amazing highlights but also a few parts that didn’t go according to plan.

Day One

My first LFW event kicked off with one of my favourite designers; Markus Lupfer. I was so excited to be able to attend the Markus Lupfer presentation this year, especially since it’s a brand I love so much. The space had been transformed into a beach dune and the models all wore beautiful sorbet shades. There were beautiful 80’s prints and one of my favourite outfits was a striped co-ord set. I also loved how the models were wearing mismatched earrings and the mix of feminine pieces with masculine hardware was gorgeous!

That evening I attended the Julien Macdonald runway show. The dresses were gorgeous and all so drool worthy and getting to see Winnie Harlow in person was amazing too! She is such a talent! I wore a Kooples Blazer dress and Louis Vuitton combat boots.

I wore an asymmetrical-hemmed white shirt dress from an Indian designer called Deme by Gabriella, with my Saint Laurent varsity jacket and my Prada belt bag. I was so excited to see how many of you loved this look and I’ve linked to my pieces and some similar more affordable options below.

Day Two

So, day two did not go according to plan at all. I

It was the Sunday at London Fashion Week and I had a standing ticket to the Ashish show. I’ve admired Ashish for a long time and I was very excited to finally have the chance to go see his collection first hand. When I arrived to the BFC show space I patiently waited in line to be let into the venue only to see that everyone with a standing allocation was being turned away (after our 45-minute wait!).

At first, I was feeling quite low and embarrassed about it but I quickly realised that I was surrounded by other bloggers and members of the industry who were far more established than I was and they were in the same boat as me. What happened was nothing personal and I  was just thankful to be able to be at London Fashion Week at all and to be able to cover these collections for you. I’m sure one day I will be able to attend the Ashish show and we can all celebrate that moment together but till then I am so thankful to be able to attend any shows at all!

Plus, I got some wonderful shots of my outfit. I wore a pink & Other Stories knit with a pink slip skirt. I love the contrast of the knit and the skirt and I of course dressed down the look with a pair of white sneakers. For my accessories, I placed my Chanel bag inside my clear bag from Shop Girl LA.

Day Three

On Day 3,  I had a catwalk show for Paul Costelloe. The collection was dreamy as it always is with lots of oversized outfits, beautiful maxi dresses and gorgeous pairings of fitted masculine blazers with flared mini skirts. A few of my favourite looks can be in the slideshow! Also, don’t miss the gorgeous pairing of the fishnet socks with the boots; totally a style trick to try right now!

With all my outfits for London Fashion Week, I wanted to focus more on dressing for myself rather than dressing for any street style photographers. I always find that everyone can see when you’re uncomfortable in what you’re wearing and there’s so much more to be said for being comfortable and confident in your own style! I was so glad that I decided to do that because I felt great in all my outfits!

To this show, I wore a ribbed white knit with pleated white trousers, my Dior embroidered flats, my Prada belt bag and a plaid blazer. Yes, I did wear the same bag to fashion week, twice, but I did style it in two different ways!

Day Four

My last and final day of London fashion week kicked off with a show at the BFC Showspace for Roberta Einer. I love her collection with it’s use of colour and embroidery and I particularly love her styling. One of my favourite looks was a printed hoodie paired with a slit skirt; the contrast was fabulous.

My final presentation was with Rixo London! It was their first time showing at LFW and I was so excited to be a part of this fantastic moment for the brand. Their new prints are actually available to shop on Net-A-Porter next week and I loved the diversity of models. One pair of models was actually a mother daughter duo!

I wore a cropped Zara blazer which I paired with my favourite maje pleated skirt. I always love to create contrasts between masculine and feminine pieces. This look also had a lot of details in it, including the hair clips in my hair!
