A little while ago I spent a day with fashion mega house Farfetch, learning all about their new watches and jewellery department and their collaboration with watchmakers Uniform Wares. Of course, for an occasion like this, I needed an outfit to match and I always say, when in doubt, go for an all black outfit. Some of you might think that an all black outfit is boring, or simply not inspiring enough but today I wanted to share with you the number one style trick on how to wear an all black outfit and still look incredible; mix textures.

The key to making any outfit pop is to try and mix in textures and patterns to add different points of interests. In regards to how to style all black, the rules are the same. I opted for a whopping four different textures in one look through my various details. My top, which I actually bought on Farfetch a few months ago, is a mix of knit and sheer. It’s the perfect autumn blouse and also adds an element of pattern with its stripes. My high waisted leather pants were a gift from Farfetch for the event and I love the boldness the vinyl brings to the look. Pro tip: lotion your legs and your pants to stop them from squeaking!

My accessories then complemented my look from my Prada belt bag in soft leather to my Uniform Wares watch with its beautiful suede strap. I actually got to customise my own strap which will be arriving in the next few weeks! All their materials are actually the same materials used by some of the biggest fashion houses in the world, but of course for much less! Now that’s luxury, isn’t it?

This post is not sponsored by Farfetch but thank you to Farfetch for gifting me these trousers.

5 Classic Pieces for Hundreds of Perfect Autumn Outfits…

Now, if someone told me years ago that all I needed were 5 classic pieces to always look my best, every season, then I would have been jumping for joy! Luckily, I’m here to tell you just that! Coming up with autumn outfit ideas can seem like such a task but the perfect fall outfit is much simpler than that! All you need is five classic pieces to always look your best! It’s more than likely that you already have these pieces floating around in your wardrobe somewhere. If not, then I’ve linked to all the pieces I’m wearing and some more affordable options as well. Trust me, all these pieces are worth investing into because they are all classics. Classics last you season after season, no matter how many trends come and go. Nothing better than having style that is eternal right?

The first piece you need is a leather jacket. The leather jacket is the perfect outerwear for spring and for fall. It looks cool, it feels great and it matches with everything! Mine is from Maje, but I’ve linked to a few more affordable options below! Secondly, no fall or winter wardrobe is complete without a turtleneck. Turtlenecks are your best friend because they look chic no matter what you wear them with. Plus it helps that they keep you incredibly warm! I love this one because it’s quite fitted but I also have my fair share of loose ones! I’ve linked to some of my favorites below!

Thirdly, you need a heritage print skirt. I’ve shared how important a printed skirt like this is when you feel like you have nothing to wear, and that’s because it is such a classic piece! I have a fair few in my arsenal in different colors for different moods! Again, a classic piece that never goes out of style! I’m sure you can all guess what I’m going to say next, over the knee boots. Your OTK’s are your best friend. they can make a jeans and sweater combination look fierce, or dress down a super formal dress. They are the perfect balance for any outfit and there are so many amazing options out there! Amazon Find actually has an amazing selection here.

Last but not least, a hat. Hats can actually be your best friend on bad hair days. A baker boy hat may not be as classic as a beret, but I also believe that if something suits you, it’s in style. Whatever your hat of choice may be, it’s your best friend to instantly elevating any fall outfit!

What do you think? What are your favorite pieces for autumn? Do we share any in my classic list?

How To Style A Cape

When it isn’t hot at all, but it isn’t freezing either.

Not sure if it’s all the Harry Potter I’ve been watching (Sky, why do you keep taking away the Harry Potter channel? Can it just be a permanent fixture?) in the lead up to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, or just all the runway looks I’m subconsciously thinking about, but either way the cape (poncho, blanket, whatever you want to call it) is having a real moment this autumn and since the weather isn’t hot but it definitely isn’t freezing – Winter is yet to come – the blanket cape is about to become your new best friend.

The lack of structure involved with a blanket cape is not usually something I tend to mess around with, but The Silk Sneaker is all about trying new styles and being fearless with style while inspiring you to do the same. I really embraced the flows of the cape , which allows for a lot of versatility in the way you wear it. I opted to wear it with a layered sweater and a skirt with a gorgeous lace hem – It’s nice to have something interesting peeking out from under the cape!

Since the cape itself is quite large, I wanted to make sure to add some definition to my silhouette with my thigh high Stuart Weizman boots. This ensured I didn’t seem lost under all the layers! The blanket cape is perfect for the day time when you find yourself sweating in your regular winter coat. If the weather get’s a bit chilly, I find it’s easiest to just throw on a scarf for extra warmth!

In other news, I finally am recovered from the flu and then the ear infection that followed so finally back on my feet (and on the bike – been spinning lots as you can see through my Instagram stories!) I’ve got a weekend full of birthday celebrations for a few of my friends, so can’t wait to share all of that with you guys as well, as well as an amazing shoot I’m doing tomorrow!

Velvet Overalls

For my very first birthday, my mother had the dress of any little girl made – a maroon poof of velvet. Jumping for joy with frilly white socks on my two little feet and a bow in my hair, I was, as the videos and photos revealed, as sassy at the mere age of one, as I am at the not so mere age of twenty-one.

(I have also confirmed my suspicions that the bow was not in my hair as some sort of ‘adorable little girl accessory’, but rather was placed there as a constant reminder that although my hair style at the time brought to mind that of a little boy, I was very much so far from that…. Wonderful) Even then, at the age of one, I shared many little secrets with my mother, the first one being the carefully added details to what seemed to be an ordinary red dress. In true fairy tale fashion, Disney or otherwise, my mother had tiny silver jingle bells stitched in to the inside bottom hem of my birthday outfit.

The results were nothing short of magical, or at least so I choose to remember. With every twirl, leap and jump there was a small jingle jingle jingle – Magic. When you can feel the kind of happiness I’m sure I felt at that moment in time, it never really leaves you. For me, that feeling of magic reappears when I wear velvet (It would explain my obsession with velvet as well I suppose) I’m not sure when the next time I wear a maroon velvet frock will be (you never know?) but velvet overalls seem to be the next best.

Back to the books. See ya.
