We’ve all been there. You’re curled up on the sofa with the latest Netflix show and you get the call. How could you forget that holiday party was tonight! You know what I’m talking about right? In those moments, all sense of what makes a good Christmas party outfit, or any party outfit for that matter, goes out the window. The stress of having to come up with an adorable yet casual party outfit can make us even later! So what do you do? You come to me of course! For situations like these I rely on my go to look; leather leggings and an embellished jumper. Note; this makes for a really cute and casual new years eve outfit too!

Leather leggings are something all of you love to see in outfits because everyone is always wondering how to style them! Leather leggings like these are a super skinny fit so I like to style them with something that is looser. You still want that wow factor in your outfit, without looking like you tried too hard, so avoid a basic sweater and instead go for an embellished one. This ba&sh one with a low back and the crystal details is the perfect statement jumper for a casual holiday outfit! So, the next time this happens to you, remember this post, pour yourself a drink and keep your makeup simple with one of these looks.

I’ve linked to some more embellished and statement jumpers below in every price point so you can create this look too! What do you think of it? Comment below!

A question I’ve been getting a lot recently is how to define your personal style. When I began my journey as a fashion blogger and started The Silk Sneaker, I don’t think I really had a personal style. I had a sense of what I liked and didn’t like but as I delved further into the world of fashion (and let’s be real, Pinterest) I felt like I was finding my way. As we are almost ready to say goodbye to 2018 and hello to a fresh new year, I sat down to reflect on my journey so far, and how I came to find my personal style so that you can too. After all this time, I am finally able to understand my sense of fashion and really define what my personal style is; laidback luxury as I’ve called it so many times now. There was honestly no massive moment that made it all click for me. Instead, I found that as time went on, I started to gravitate towards pieces that made me feel confident in my own skin and when I wore them, not only did I feel amazing, but I got the best reactions too. It was all a feeling.

1. Understand what suits you
I think that the first step to finding your personal style is to understand what suits your body shape and type. A lot of my followers are petite like me and love to ask me for more specific advice for petite girls, others are taller but know that they can adapt my outfits to suit them. It’s all about understanding what shapes and silhouettes enhance your body.

2. Have good basics
Once you’ve understood what suits you, which is the core of your personal style, start to build up on the basics. For me, I love to stick to classics like blazers, silk pieces, t-shirts, turtlenecks and denim and then look to add a personal touch to them. Whether it’s embellishments, statement accessories or just different colours and patterns, your preferences will start to form and your personal style will become more and more obvious. For example, I talk about one of my favourite winter uniforms here but how I make it look different every single time.

3. Don’t be constrained by labels.
You might be tempted to describe your style as “girly” or “edgy” but a majority of the time you’ll find that you can be more than one. I love contrasts, I like to mix casual with luxury, girly with sleek, classic with trendy. What I realised was that by trying to fill only one box, I was missing out on a whole other aspect of my style, the part that made me unique. Forget the labels and go with your instinct.

If there are any other words of advice I can leave you with, it’s wear whatever you choose with confidence, because confidence speaks louder than words. Comment below with your style journey.

A little while ago I spent a day with fashion mega house Farfetch, learning all about their new watches and jewellery department and their collaboration with watchmakers Uniform Wares. Of course, for an occasion like this, I needed an outfit to match and I always say, when in doubt, go for an all black outfit. Some of you might think that an all black outfit is boring, or simply not inspiring enough but today I wanted to share with you the number one style trick on how to wear an all black outfit and still look incredible; mix textures.

The key to making any outfit pop is to try and mix in textures and patterns to add different points of interests. In regards to how to style all black, the rules are the same. I opted for a whopping four different textures in one look through my various details. My top, which I actually bought on Farfetch a few months ago, is a mix of knit and sheer. It’s the perfect autumn blouse and also adds an element of pattern with its stripes. My high waisted leather pants were a gift from Farfetch for the event and I love the boldness the vinyl brings to the look. Pro tip: lotion your legs and your pants to stop them from squeaking!

My accessories then complemented my look from my Prada belt bag in soft leather to my Uniform Wares watch with its beautiful suede strap. I actually got to customise my own strap which will be arriving in the next few weeks! All their materials are actually the same materials used by some of the biggest fashion houses in the world, but of course for much less! Now that’s luxury, isn’t it?

This post is not sponsored by Farfetch but thank you to Farfetch for gifting me these trousers.

Why You Need A Pair of Leather Pants In Your Wardrobe

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker showcases how to style leather pants in an outfit with Topshop and Rag & Bone

Here’s A Pair of Pants You Need…

About two years ago I bought a pair of faux leather leggings from Topshop. I did not anticipate how many compliments I was going to receive when I wear them, nor did I anticipate how many people would tell me that they were too afraid to try them! Leather (faux!) pants are not something to fear, rather something that you need to have for a stylish winter wardrobe! Here’s why:

Firstly, pants like these can really upgrade your usual sweater and pants combination because of the gorgeous texture! It makes your usual outfit so much more interesting and luxe!

Secondly, leather trousers come in so many different fits now that there really is something for everyone! Mine are super skinny because I love that I can style them with chunkier knits. They are also available in straight cuts or flares that have a bit more room!

Lastly, they are one of the most versatile pieces I own! As the weather continues to get colder (let’s get real, winter is here in London) leather pants are something I can wear day or night, meeting or drinks! Now that’s a pair of pants worth having!

I paired my leather leggings here with one of my favorite new sweaters from Rag & Bone. I love the gorgeous color block and the shades of blue! I just had to pair the sweater with my current favorite baker boy hat from ASOS! The fit of my leather leggings made them perfect to pair with my cute new OTK blue boots! I got these last week and haven’t been able to take them off since! Did you see me get them on my vlog? Watch it all here!

Do you have a pair of leather leggings or leather pants that you love? Are you going to get a pair?
