The Easiest Way To Refresh Your Favourite Sweater Dress for Autumn

The sweater dress is one of those pieces that we all are secretly waiting to wear. The minute the leaves turn golden, the first thing that comes to my mind is a sweater dress outfit! Although our old autumn pieces can start to feel a bit old or dated, adding life to them again is so simple! I always find that an easy way to make a basic piece feel extra stylish, is with the right accessories!

For this look, I wanted to highlight that transitional feel so I went for accessories that were lighter; denim based! I used the belt to create a new silhouette and added some definition to my waist. The denim jacket is a great way to layer up and still look effortlessly cool!

A White Shirt Dress Never Fails…

As I begin to explore and experiment with basics, I’ve realised that a white shirt dress is something everyone should have in their closets. Although you might think it’s a summer staple, a shirt dress is the perfect piece for your transitional outfit. A simple yet chic way to style it for autumn, is to throw a blazer over it. The blazer give this casual staple a refined feel (Plus keeps you comfortable and warm!) A shirt dress outfit for autumn isn’t complete without your favourite ankle boots. Three simple pieces, one fabulous outfit.

What I love about this particular dress is the accentuated waist. Being petite means having to really highlight your figure so you don’t feel lost in your look! I love that this one has this cute little tie detail! If your’s doesn’t, just add a simple waist belt for the same effect!

Just because it’s autumn, it doesn’t mean you have to hide your legs, I mean what else are over the knee boots for? With some solid layering, whether it be layered tops or sweaters like mine, your favourite skirt is about to get a cold weather upgrade. With the last days of October upon us (who’s ready for halloween? I know I’m not… there is some serious DIY happening for my costume) I can’t help but be more and more inclined to the shiny and the sparkly. When I saw this metallic skirt I couldn’t resist. Metallic leather adds such an amazing touch to an everyday look, it’s such an easy way to step up your outfit. If worn right, metallic can also be such an easy way to upgrade a very classic look.

With the US Elections coming up, and winter making it’s way into our bones and souls (winter is coming, but GOT will not grace our screens till… June?!?!) November is going to be one hell of a month. It seems like everyday we get a new set of “facts” that seem to throw another curveball into the whole discussion, the grand finale is sure to leave us either incredibly relieved or incredibly worried. As the cold sets in here in London and we start preparing for the holiday season and the stress of end of the year work, I love being able to combat that through just feeling and looking good. This metallic skirt does that for me, it makes me feel confident yet classic, and is the perfect way to add some shine to any type of gloomy day. When you feel confident on the inside, you’re going to feel confident on the outside, and then nothing can stop you.
