Believe it or not, gingham is here to stay. This new favourite pattern for spring and summer has made it’s way far past your picnic table and right into your closet! Now I thought to myself, why share one outfit, when I can show you how to style gingham in three different ways! Introducing, (drum roll please!) my very new three part series, showing you three different takes on how to wear gingham now! To kick it off, I’m starting with one of my favourite looks of the past few weeks, where I styled a brand new pair of gingham pants. The tricky aspect of gingham outfits is being able to make the pattern work for you while maintaining a sense of elegance (after all, we do commonly use this pattern for a picnic…) and my three part series is here to show you how to do just that!
For this outfit, I wanted my gingham chef pants to look and feel elevated, so I decided to add a dash of colour! Although mixing colours and patterns can seem intimidating, when you opt for something subtle and feminine like this baby pink I’m wearing, the colours create a bold yet elegant feel! I love the way the feminine knit with it’s tie up details contrast the pants. Of course, there is no ignoring my brand new Dior bag. It was a birthday present and I am yet to find an outfit that this bag does not match (or make better! It literally makes everything better) I hope this provides you with another dose of fresh April outfit ideas and stay tuned for the next part of my how to style gingham series!

The 5 Essentials:
The Spring Edit
We all know what it’s like to wake up in the morning and think “What in the world do I wear today?” With a new season here, our wardrobes need a small spring update so that no matter what you may put on, uniform or not, your look is spring ready! For this season, there are five essential pieces that you need to create the perfect spring look – mix and match them, wear them all together like I did, or spice up your jeans and tee combination with one of them! No matter what you’re doing, these five pieces are a great way to refresh your spring wardrobe and spring look without having to break the bank! (There’s something for everyone!). Keep reading to see my five essentials to refresh your look this spring, along with some other picks that fit the bill!
1. The Blazer
The blazer is a capsule wardrobe must have and for spring it gets a colourful update! Ditch your black blazer for a coloured one (preferably a pink or yellow one!) for an instant and fresh update on any look! That burst of colour is sure to make your outfit stand out in a timeless way, no matter how simple! How’s that for a quick outfit formula for those hurried mornings?
If you haven’t noticed already, tinted sunglasses are having a huge moment. That retro feel is back and it’s here to stay for a while judging by some of the collections for F/W 2017. I love the pop of colour they add and that effortlessly cool look they give any outfit! Only thing – be careful not to stare, you can see right through! That happened to me only yesterday! Did you see it on my Instagram stories?
The straw bag is no longer for your days on the beach! It’s the perfect spring and summer accessory for any day out, city or sand! Coming in all ranges and sizes, I opted for a petite one with these adorable pom poms! You can have your pick from the many I have my eye on – I think it’s time to build my collection! A super cute way to add that beach touch to your look!
Cute Story about this bag! I ordered the bag over the weekend and thought I had asked for same-day delivery. I had accidentally asked for it to be delivered two weeks later! The amazing customer service (Special shout out to Kay!) at Avenue 32 brought this to my attention and then proceeded to have it delivered to me on Tuesday post the holiday. It was such an effortless and thoughtful process! (This is not sponsored by Avenue 32, I just thought their customer service was amazing!)

A girl can never have too many shoes, which is why your spring wardrobe of course needs a pair of spring flats! I think flats are so important for the season – the no fuss factor they add is exactly what we are all looking for as the weather gets warmer! For spring, look for backless mules, and extra points if yours have a touch of colour! I’ve been eyeing these shoes forever and I was so happy when I finally got them! Stay tuned for my edit on the must have spring shoes coming soon!

5. The Head Piece
Whether you go for a hairband or you go for a scarf, the colourful head piece is a must have for your spring look! It adds an instant refresh, making any spring look feel fresh and new! Pops of colour like these are fun to add and it’s a great way to experiment with pattern mixing as well! The one I’m wearing here is a headband and I’ve linked to it below. (I have a huge thing for hair bands that started way before Blair Waldorf..)
There is no denying that I love the colour Pink. I even have an entire Pinterest board dedicated to the colour. Of course, wearing pink on a regular basis and looking chic and refined can seem like a challenge but I’m here to show you how to wear pink, the street style way. Although the spring sunshine is here, it can still be a little bit chilly and as much as I want to shed all my layers and slip into summer dresses, we still need a couple to get us through the day. With that being said, I like to inject some fun into them with only the coolest colour right now, Pink Duhhhh.
To battle the impression of looking like a Barbie doll, I opted for some darker shades of pink mixed together. The subtle shades complement each other without overwhelming the look. To balance this all pink look, I added some touches of beige and black with my shoes and one of my favourite new bags. I was lucky enough to grab the last bag in this style and I have been attached to it ever since. I find that the tassels on it are perfect for summer!
So, this is how I wear pink right now, is this how you would wear it too?
Spring is one of my favourite seasons. Not only is it a great time to try out new trends, but it’s also the season I was born in (My birthday is on Friday!!). A part of every spring wardrobe this season is the hero jacket: The Military Inspired piece. This is one of those pieces that immediately elevates your go-to jeans and tee combo. In my case, I used it to add a bit of edge to my look. My favourite way to wear the military jacket is by mixing it up with more feminine pieces. I paired mine with a ruffled skirt and a striped sweater (Another must have this spring!). I loved the contrast it created! You could wear your favourite military jacket in so many other ways. I also paired this jacket with some tailored trousers and a white shirt for a more refined look and with a spring dress to add a bit of edge. No matter what you pear it with, remember to keep your palette neutral to let the jacket stand out without overwhelming you!
