Gingham with a Summer Touch!

The “3 Stylish Ways to Wear Gingham Now” series has been one of my favourites up to date (I should do more of these! What do you think?). For the final instalment of this series, I wanted to give my favourite gingham two-piece a fun summer update. I love how gorgeous and feminine a two-piece like this one from Zara can be, but I wanted to add a little bit of edge to the look. The simplest way to do that was by adding a tee shirt underneath this crop! The tee gives a very city street style look, making it perfect for some June outfit inspiration! The sneakers added that touch of cool to balance the femininity of the two piece set. Sometimes, it’s also the smallest additions that can make an outfit. For me, it came in the form of this adorable scrunchie! The stripes and gingham work so well together. Don’t worry, this is not the last time you will be seeing gingham here on TSS. 3 Stylish Ways To Wear Gingham Now: Part Two

There’s no beating a classic Gingham look…

We all know that a key fashion trend for spring summer 2017 is gingham. That’s why I created this series on three ways to wear summer’s favourite pattern! In part one, we tackled the gingham pants. Today, in part two, I’m all about the gingham skirt and adding colour to your street style outfit. Classically, gingham is blue and white and we tend to match it with similar colours. For today’s look, I wanted to add some bold contrasts with colour. I loved creating an all blue base with my blue oversized sweater (it’s a sweater I stole from his closet!) and my blue skirt. To create the colour contrast I added this red leather jacket from Deme by Gabriella. It’s a current favourite of mine because of the colour! One of my favourite parts about this particular gingham skirt is the ruffle on it! The ruffle adds femininity and elegance, so pairing it with an edgy jacket and sneakers creates the perfect balance. Plus, with ruffles being another trend for spring/summer, this skirt is a two in one! I hope you guys like this second look and I can’t wait to share part three of the series with you!

3 Stylish Ways To Wear Gingham Now: Part One

Gingham, your new spring & summer pattern.

Believe it or not, gingham is here to stay. This new favourite pattern for spring and summer has made it’s way far past your picnic table and right into your closet! Now I thought to myself, why share one outfit, when I can show you how to style gingham in three different ways! Introducing, (drum roll please!) my very new three part series, showing you three different takes on how to wear gingham now! To kick it off, I’m starting with one of my favourite looks of the past few weeks, where I styled a brand new pair of gingham pants. The tricky aspect of gingham outfits is being able to make the pattern work for you while maintaining a sense of elegance (after all, we do commonly use this pattern for a picnic…) and my three part series is here to show you how to do just that!

For this outfit, I wanted my gingham chef pants to look and feel elevated, so I decided to add a dash of colour! Although mixing colours and patterns can seem intimidating, when you opt for something subtle and feminine like this baby pink I’m wearing, the colours create a bold yet elegant feel! I love the way the feminine knit with it’s tie up details contrast the pants. Of course, there is no ignoring my brand new Dior bag. It was a birthday present and I am yet to find an outfit that this bag does not match (or make better! It literally makes everything better) I hope this provides you with another dose of fresh April outfit ideas and stay tuned for the next part of my how to style gingham series!
