It’s officially time to find the perfect nude lipstick for your skin tone!
After the amazing response, I received from you all about my post on the best red lipsticks for brown girls everywhere, I knew I had to do another one. One of the most requested shades was how to find the best nude shades for our skin tone. Much like finding the perfect red shade, finding the best nude lipstick can be a challenge as well. Sometimes it’s too light, sometimes it’s too dark right? I’ve trialled a lot of different shades to find the best nude lipstick for brown skin tones. The criteria are the same; how well does it suit my skin tone and girls similar to me? Have I bought the colour again? Have I received compliments on it? With that in mind, these are my five favourite nude lipsticks.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I know that in India skin tone is a big deal and there is a lot of emphasis on being “fair”. I know that this is an issue in other countries as well. I just wanted to take a moment to point out that colour does not define beauty. You could be any shade on the spectrum and still be beautiful. I don’t believe that being fairer or darker makes you more beautiful and I don’t think there is anything wrong with the colour that you are now. Embrace it and don’t ever forget you are gorgeous, no matter what colour you are!
CHARLOTTE TILBURY VERY VICTORIA
I’m a huge fan of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. She has an amazing range and when you find a shade that works for you, you tend to go back to it. Very Victoria is one such shade. I love this one because I wear it on a regular basis on its own but I also use it over darker shades to make them lighter and more suited to my skin.

ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS HONEY
I was gifted this shade by the brand and it is one of the most nude shades I own. At first I wasn’t sure if I liked it but it grew on me really quickly and I realised its actually perfect for when I have heavy eye make up on. If you’re looking for a lighter nude or rather a true nude, then this is the one!
NARS BISCAYNE PARK
Yes, my collection of Nars lip pencils is extensive but that really is because they are so good especially for brown skin tones! Biscayne Park is the kind of colour that suits you no matter where you fall on the spectrum. My mother is quite a few shades lighter than me and she wears this too! It’s super flattering but it is on the lighter side so if you’re looking for a light nude, this is the one!

CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE NUANCE 71
You can never go wrong with Chanel, especially because their colours are so long wear. I love that this lipstick will last me for the whole day so whenever I wear it, I never have to worry about it. This one is truly a nude shade! Again, this is an easy, drop in your bag and use it on repeat kind of shade. Doesn’t require a lot of thought so if you’re looking for your first ever nude, try this one.

TOM FORD PUBLIC DISPLAY
My favourite part about this particular lipstick from Tom Ford is that it is lipstick on one side and a pencil on the other. This nude is more on the brown side with a tint of orange in it which makes it really beautiful to wear in the summer. I love that it has a bit more of a glossy finish rather than matte as well.
