October Notes & What’s New In My Wardrobe

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite moments for October and what's new in her autumn wardrobe

OCTOBER IS HERE

A new month, new thoughts, new feelings, new pieces in the wardrobe.

This post contains affiliate links. This means that I make a small commission for my recommendations to you. This does not affect you, or your experience in any way. All thoughts and opinions remain my own.

The weather is no longer constantly rain, Mercury is out of retrograde, and Whatsapp is finally working again. Things are already looking up this October, my loves! At the start of every month, I like to take stock and reflect on where we are now and where we want to be. With TSS, I’ve been loving sharing more personal moments with you on my Instagram stories. I am SO excited to say that there will be weekly vlogs over on my IGTV. Who knows, perhaps the Youtube channel will make a comeback soon too! I am so proud as well to be a part of the Pinterest Class of Creators for 2021. You can check out some of my work here!

I’m so excited to dig into my autumn wardrobe with some of my favourite old knits, jackets and boots, and a few beautiful new ones! I’ve been wearing my new jeans on repeat, and I just can’t get enough of some of these beautiful coloured cardigans and sweaters! (Have you seen the one that looks like THAT Chanel sweater yet?) I’ve highlighted some of my favourite new pieces that I have added to my closet for you below!

On a more personal note, we are still settling down in our new home. It’s been a long process, and waiting for our furniture to come in has been equal parts annoying as it is exciting (Thank you, fuel shortages and Brexit). As I type this, though, I’m watching as they unpack our new sofa in the living room, and I cannot wait to accessorise, decorate, and jump on it and curl up with Harry Potter. I’ve been loving adding in all the lovely soft furnishings to our space, from some fantastic coffee table books to chic vases. I’ve linked some of my favourite new pieces that we have added below so you can take a look!

I have also been spending a lot of time on self-care and reflecting on where I am in my own personal journey. When Shiv and I were in Ibiza, I remember saying to him that I felt like I had lost a part of myself somewhere along the last year. I had let my anxiety and paranoia get the better of me more than I would care to admit, and I needed to get back in touch with the confident, fun-loving side of myself. It was small things. Constantly claiming to be an introvert when actually I can be pretty outgoing. Catching myself, putting my body down in the mirror. Simply not giving myself the space to be the person I know I can be. I’ve spent a lot of time this last month working on that, and although I know I’m not done, I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

My goals for October are to continue making our new place feel like home, continue to create content that can help and empower you, continue to work on being true to myself, being able to speak my mind with those around me without fear of judgement and learn how to put myself and my loved ones first. Oh, and get lots of cuddles from Shiv and Alfie, of course. What are your goals for October?

Shloka Spots #7: Autumn Jewellery

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite autumn jewellery, acne battling skincare and nike dunks in this weeks Shloka's Spots

Jewellery is one of the easiest ways to take an outfit and elevate it. Your everyday uniform can suddenly feel fresh and new with a beautiful pair of earrings or a gold chain bracelet. I rely heavily on jewellery, especially in the colder months, to take make my outfit feel more put together. This season, expect to see huge, round statement rings, gold chains, charms and touches of enamel. It’s all about having a bit of fun and I’ve put together the perfect roundup just for you.

We all know that sweater weather is officially upon us, and it’s time to get re-inspired for a new season. Whether that’s brushing up on some of the trends or taking note of the street style coming out of Paris Fashion Week, it’s time to welcome autumn with open arms. I love getting my favourite boots out, and this year is no different. I’m so excited that so many of my favourite classic styles also happen to be in trend this year. I’ve broken down some must-have boots styles for autumn/winter 2021 so that you can make sure you have the perfect pair to get you through this season and beyond.

A quick note; I like to invest in good boots because I want to make sure I can wear mine for more than just one season. I’ve included some great options below, so regardless of the price, you know they will last you longer than just a few months.

CHELSEA BOOTS

A classic for any autumn wardrobe, the Chelsea boot is a must-have. It’s a pair that is worth the investment as you know they will always be in style.

COMBAT BOOTS

I’m a sucker for a good pair of combat boots. I am currently eyeing a pair of white Prada ones! It’s a style that you can dress up or down, and I love that you can use it to add a bit of edge and cool to any look.

COWBOY BOOTS

Time to say howdy to a pair of cowboy boots! I remember when they started trending a few years ago and seem to have hit their stride this year.

RIDING BOOTS

Another style that I think will always be a classic. Riding boots are all the rage currently. I think it’s because of how versatile and chic they are and how easy it is to invest in a pair that will last you a lifetime.

RUBBER SOLES

We saw this trend emerge last year, with these chunky style boots with rubber soles taking over the street style scene. This year they are back, and I don’t think they are going anywhere anytime soon. I love that you can get them in a variety of lengths! Here are some of my favourites.

Which is your favourite?

LAY IT OUT

Everyone has their vice. Perhaps you’re a sucker for beautifully tailored coats. Maybe you can’t resist a fantastic pair of shoes. Maybe, you have a love for handbags. That’s me – I love bags (and not the type under your eyes, although mine would probably be Dior). Not only do I avidly try to grow my collection of the classics, but I also love to discover smaller brands, especially ones that are doing something positive with their sustainability initiatives. With a new season, I have some new pieces that I’ve been eyeing. So if you too adore a beautiful handbag, scroll down!

THE MINI KELLY

I adore my Kelly Sellier but I am eyeing the mini Kelly for almost a year now and it still remains on the top spot on my wish list! Although it takes a bit of patience and time to get your hands on one, I’m willing to put in the effort! You can also find one on the resale market – perhaps you’ll find a colour you love below.

THE FENDI FIRST

Can I just say, I think Fendi is going to be the new hot brand everyone’s going to want on their list. I’ve always loved the brand but recently I’ve really rediscovered my LOVE for them. The Fendi First clutch bag is one of those bags that I think is so chic, classic but also such a subtle statement. I love the shape, the detailing and how versatile it is to style. High on my wishlist!

THE PRADA CLEO

I love the retro shape of this bag and all the beautiful colours that it comes in. It’s a great casual bag to have in your wardrobe and perfect for a weekend out.

THE FENDI PEEKABOO

I recently went on a shopping browse with one of my best friends and we both fell in love with the Fendi Peekaboo. I remember when it first released and I had loved the shape and I just fell in love with it again, especially with their beautiful new colours for autumn.

THE MANU ATELIER SHEARLING HOBO BAG

I know that this is a very seasonal bag, but I feel like shearling is something that is always a classic for winter. I’ve had an obsession with shearling since I was a kid. I remember making my parents take me to Gap so I could get a coat with a shearling line. I felt very cool that day. I’ve brought this into my adult wardrobe and now I’m lusting after this shearling bag! What I also love about Manu Atelier is that they are a sustainable brand.

As the weather starts to cool down, we find ourselves reaching four our favourite jeans more and more. There is nothing that feels quite as good as a great fitting pair of jeans and trust me when I say this, it’s worth the investment. Good denim will last you a lifetime and I’ve rounded up not only some wonderful classics to have in your wardrobe but also some pairs that have that something special to really level up your outfit. This week I also had the chance to go to the Code 8 beauty flagship store in Burlington Arcade and create my own lipstick! It was such a cool experience and I’ve highlighted some of their other hero products for you to try if you haven’t had a chance to discover the brand. Last but not least, this editions find of the week is a classic you’re going to want to grab before it’s gone!

My Favourite Denim Styles in Motion

Let’s get your denim in check! I think denim is a part of the basis of any great wardrobe and having the right styles (for you!) will make sure you always have that perfect pair of jeans to fall back on. I like to invest in the right pair of jeans as that way I know they will last me for a long time. As I said in my reel this week, invest in good quality and you’ll land up saving in the long run! Here are some of my go to brands and pairs, plus a few extra favourites!

Beauty Must Haves

Luxe Look Find of The Week

I have been on the hunt for the perfect turtleneck knit dress for the longest time. I wanted one that wasn’t too tight or loose, the perfect colour, and one I can just throw on with some great boots and be ready to go. I found it! You’re welcome.

The Petite Girls Guide To The Most Wearable Trends for A/W 2021

AUTUMN
IS HERE

This is more than your average trend guide. This is a guide specially made for all the petite women out there. Here are the autumn winter 2021 trends, with special tips on how to style them!

All images taken from Pinterest and Vogue.com

This post contains affiliate links but this does not affect your experience in any way.

If you do a quick google search for “autumn winter fashion trends 2021” you would be inundated with guides from all of your favourite publications. What you may not find though, is something suited just for you. As a petite woman myself, I sometimes find it difficult to relate to the trends I see on the 6ft something models strutting down the runway. Many a time, if I try to recreate an exact look what I was going for and what I land up with are two very different things. Luckily over the years I’ve learnt a few styling tricks to adapt my favourite runway looks for the streets. This year, I wanted to share that knowledge with you with my dedicated guide on how to style the coolest A/W 2021 trends for all you petite ladies out there.

There are of course some trends here that I have not listed which arguably are in trend every season. This includes knit dresses, co-ords and vests, faux fur and shearling, tartan and sparkles. So keep these in mind for the season too!

Off White

HIGHLY SATURATED

It’s all about positive, happy dressing and that means embracing every colour in the box. Add a touch of colour to your otherwise classic look or go bold for a top to toe ombré.

Style Tip

Don’t be afraid of a bold look if you are petite. Opt for accessories that elongate your figure. For example, pointy toed shoes will make you look taller.

Jonathan Simkhai

CUT IT OUT

As we’ve seen on the recent S/S 2022 runways, the cut out trend is very much here to stay. Although it may seem counterintuitive to be showing even more skin when it’s cold outside, it’s all about clever layering and showing just a touch of skin.

Style Tip:

With any trend that showcases skin, always embrace balance. If you’re opting for a knit top with cut outs, opt for slim fitting trousers. Cut outs on the top half of your body are also more flattering!

Jacquemus

PUFFERS

Perhaps last year we would have been excused for simply walking around with our favourite blanket, but as we return back to our lives this year, we are upgrading to the puffer coat.

Style Tip:

This style always seems intimidating for petite women as we are afraid it might wear us rather than us wearing it. Pair a puffer coat with slim fitting silhouettes to highlight your figure and create balance.

It’s the return of fashion.

Emilia Wickstead

TAILORING

This is one of my favourite trends of the season and one I plan to embrace more. Tailored pieces, especially when they fit well will always look chic.

Style Tip:

The key to this trend is to make sure that the pieces are indeed tailored to you. I always like to invest in tailoring my items further so they are the perfect fit. This is how you can also pull off an oversized fit, as it’s altered to your proportions.

Fendi

MINI SKIRTS

If you’ve been following me for a while you know I LOVE a mini skirt moment so I am so excited to see this style back in trend. That being said, I’m a huge advocate for wearing what you love, whether trending or not, especially if it suits you. Shorter hemlines always look fabulous on petite women so you know you’ll do great with this one!

Style Tip:

If you’re wondering how to keep warm with a mini skirt in winter, style with over the knee boots and tights. Make sure to leave a gap between the top of your boots and the hem of your skirt to show a bit of skin (or skin under tights!) to elongate the figure.

What trend are you most excited about for this season? Share with me in the comments!

The Best Places To Eat, Drink & Sunbathe in Ibiza

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Sensarma shares her favourite places to eat in Ibiza

WE’RE GOING TO IBIZA

You can’t help but let the tune play in your head right? It played in my head for our whole flight to the island. This was not my first visit to Ibiza – my first being a few years ago to celebrate Shiv’s 21’st birthday. Needless to say this was a very different trip. We went with the intention of getting tanned, eating good food and enjoying some much needed down time. That is exactly what we did. Here are my favourite spots on the island (as well as a few insider tips on the places that may not  be all that)

PS: If you would like to see all my outfits from the trip, click here!

WHERE TO EAT

La Paloma

This was our favourite meal of the entire trip. The menu changes every week and the ingredients are flown in fresh from Italy. Not only is the food delicious but the mood is fabulous too. This is a must visit.

La Oliva

We had our first dinner on the island here and we managed to nab a table outside. It’s the perfect place to people watch, enjoy your wine and their delicious food. My personal recommendation is the Goats Cheese tart and the Sea bass baked in salt.

Finca La Plaza

I highly recommend booking in advance and requesting a table outside at this stylish Ibiza spot. My personal favourites were the Onion Tarte Tartin and the Crumble with Goats Cheese Ice Cream.

Juan & Andrea

I highly recommend making your way to Formentera for the day and having lunch at this famous spot. Known to be Nadal’s favourite restaurant!

Taller de Tapas

This spot is slightly unusual. It is not located in a nice neighbourhood, and it does seem a bit strange when you’re making your way there but the meal was a culinary delight. It’s a set menu, with the wonderful waiters bringing you dish after dish and ending it with the most delicious dessert. While we were there we did have an unusual experience. A few kids threw a firecracker into the restaurant right next to our table. This prank could have gone terribly wrong but luckily no one was hurt. So, I would say this is a spot for the truly adventurous.

Laylah

With heavy middle eastern inspiration, Laylah is a stylish, modern restaurant with delicious food and a really date night kind of vibe.

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Sensarma shares her favourite places to eat in Ibiza

WHERE TO TAN

El Chiringuito

Admittedly this is not the best beach on the island. You do have to wade through quite a bit of seaweed to get to the water but, the food and vibe here is just fabulous. One of our best lunches!

Beach Club Ibiza

Book one of the day beds in advance and enjoy the amazing vibe at Beach Club Ibiza. The food is fab and the beach is also quite nice.

Atzaro Beach Club

The Atzaro beach club was located in front of what was one of the best beaches on the island. The water was clear and beautiful. The only downside was that the food was not great and the service was very slow. We had a very unhappy waiter as well. Oops!

Formentera

If you are able to get a boat and explore the water near Formentera, I highly recommend it. It was one of our best days by far. The water is crystal clear and a beautiful blue. You can jump in, swim and enjoy the sunshine here. A highlight!

Fashion Tip: Heels are perfectly acceptable at restaurants but you may want to opt for flats for any in the old town.

Have you every been to Ibiza?

Shloka Spots #5: Autumn Capsule Wardrobe

Welcome to my latest weekly series, Shloka Spots! Every week I’ll be sharing my favourite (and coolest!) finds so that you can stay ahead of the curve with what’s worth it and what’s not. Share your thoughts, purchases and love with me by tagging me in your posts and using #ShlokaSpots!

We went from heat, waves and salty hair straight into chilly, crisp autumn mornings in London. It felt amazing to get away to Ibiza, and I am so thankful we could get a bit of downtime. Now that we are back, I’m focused on creating the perfect autumn capsule wardrobe and with a bit of help from you guys over on Instagram, I’ve narrowed it down to a few basics that every woman needs in her autumn arsenal. This week, in my beauty section, I’m sharing three haircare heroes that have helped my hair stay soft, nurtured, and hydrated from the sandy beaches back to the city. I’ve been using some of them for months, so I know they work! Lastly, my find of the week is small but mighty. You’ll see what I mean when you scroll down!

Style: Autumn Capsule Wardrobe

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her London Fashion Week Streetstyle in a Topshop vinyl trench coat and pearl headband

Every autumn capsule wardrobe needs a great pair of boots. This year it’s all about the chunky soles and riding boots! I’ve linked some amazing ones below including a dupe for the famous Chloe Betty Boots and the Bottega ones that I have. Tailoring is very much here to stay so be sure to stock up on some great trousers and a chic plaid blazer. Speaking of plaid, a great check skirt is a must. I am particularly loving this yellow one from Maje. Last but not least, it’s trench coat season so take your pick from my picks below!

Beauty Must Haves

Post our trip to Ibiza my hair needed some TLC. These three hero products have helped keep my hair shiny and soft.

Find of The Week

I’m very particular about mascara. I’m not a fan of pigment for everyday but I still want the length. Enter clear mascara. All the length and volume but with a natural look! I’m obsessed with this brow lash duo.

Every Outfit I Wore On My Trip to Ibiza

Here’s a feeling I missed in 2020. The feeling of humid heat hitting your face when you get off a flight and haul yourself onto a bus to take you to the terminal of the destination you just landed at. Forgot about the bus bit, right? Well, I welcomed it and every moment on our most recent holiday to Ibiza. I couldn’t be more thankful to have a week in the sunshine, with Shiv, fabulous food and fantastic wine. When packing for my trip, I was very strategic. I planned out every look for the day and the night, did not pack anything extra (oooh risky), and really focused on versatile pieces so that I could share styling ideas for some great outfits with you beyond this holiday. Did Mrs Organised forget her pyjamas and toothbrush? Absolutely. Lucky for me Shiv always packs extra t-shirts, and the hotel always has a dental kit. Did she have some fabulous looks, though? Scroll down to find out.
