I think it’s safe to say that one of my skills is shopping and over the last year I’ve really honed my skills in the online shopping department. I love to spend my time browsing what’s new on all my favourite high street and high end stores. It’s a great way to catch on to all the fashion trends for spring summer 2021 quickly while also spotting all the most luxe looking pieces from your favourite stores, before they sell out!

So here’s what I’ve added to my wardrobe this month! I’ve added a pair of pink trousers to my wardrobe and I love this pair because they are perfect for petite silhouettes. I’ve also fully committed to oversized blazers with my favourites from ASOS. I’ve also added in some lilac jeans because how Isabel Marant are they? You won’t believe where I found them!

It’s time to put your track pants away and instead delve back into your spring summer wardrobe. While many of us here in the UK are having fewer Zoom meetings and more terrace drinks, you want to make sure that your fits are on-trend. From loose straight cut jeans to oversized blazers to bright pink, I’m here to highlight the cutest trends for the season, along with where to get them! I know that for many, some of these trends can feel a little overwhelming (especially when you’re petite like me), so I’ve also included some special style tips for you along with each one.

Don’t worry; you’re going to see loads more outfits styling all these trends in the next few months, so get ready for a lot of summer outfit ideas! Till then, let’s get you acquainted with THE trends to know this season.

Alberta Feretti

THE MAXI DRESS

This is a spring summer classic – who doesn’t love a billowing maxi dress when the sun is shining? One of the biggest movements we are seeing in fashion now is care-free, fuss-free pieces and a maxi dress is exactly that. Easy to slip on with no stress! To be super on trend, try one with puffy sleeves or in a bright shade. I’ve highlighted some of my favourites below!

Style Tip: If you’re petite like me, maxi dresses can overwhelm your silhouette. Instead look for longer midi dresses to get the look. You can also look at adding height with block heels or looking for wrap dresses or ones with a slit to show some leg.

Valentino

FRUITY SHADES

In case you haven’t seen them yet, I’ve been creating reels sharing the coolest colour combo’s to rock now. Colour is trending heavily for this season, especially after the grim year that 2020 was. More than that, we are seeing a lot of pink and green. It’s not just about adding in a “pop” of colour anymore with accessories but more about rocking the shade of your choice with confidence. Think bright pink shirts, colourful skirts and even multi coloured combos! See my reel for some inspo here!

Style Tip: Its much easier to pair colours when they are of the same shade groups – for example pastels always work together!

Ulla Johnson

STRAIGHT LEG JEANS

Bye bye skinny jeans and hello to the straight leg! It feels like the end of an era with the fall of the skinny jeans (but hold on to them, you know fashion is cyclical!) but I’m really embracing the straight leg jean. There’s something so relaxed and easy going about them. I’ve highlighted my favourite ones below.

Style Tip: Try this style as a high waist. It looks so much more refined.

It’s time to put your track pants away and instead delve back into your spring summer wardrobe.

Fendi

Chloe, Rochas, Emporio Armani

CUT OUTS

Cut outs, wrap tops, anything that shows that little touch of skin is in! Personally, I haven’t embraced jeans and skirts with cut outs just yet but instead have opted for wrap around blazers and shirt with side slits. I love that these are all basics with a twist, which makes everyday dressing so much more fun.

Style tip: Pair your cut out piece with something that provides more coverage to keep your outfit looking classy.

Zimmermann

THE MINI SKIRT

Okay, not going to lie, this is a personal favourite of mine. I LOVE a mini skirt no matter the season so I am welcoming this trend whole heartedly. I’m seeing a lot of straight cut mini skirts on the runway. You can look at adding a sporty edge to them with a cute hoodie like at Miu Miu or keep things more refined by styling with a beautiful summer blouse. Either way, one of the easiest and coolest trends to style!

Isabel Marant

OVERSIZED BLAZERS

Are you sensing a pattern here? Oversized, loose fits, are dominating right now. I think this is mainly because of how easy it is to wear and makes the transition from WFH sweats to outdoor looks much easier. Make sure to pay attention to proportions when styling an oversized blazer! I like to opt for something a bit more fitted on the bottom!

Chanel

MONOCHROME

On one end of the spectrum we have fruit salad outfits and on the other we have the complete minimalist. Black and white outfits are dominating – the simpler, the better! Rock one colour top to toe or mix and match to create something ultra classic.

Style Tip

Add interest to a monochrome outfit with different textures like boucles, tweed or faux leather.

Now that the lockdown in London has finally eased, I’m itching to get back out in the cutest outfits possible. That being said, no one wants to give up comfort and with a strong wardrobe of stylish spring basics, you don’t have to. I’ve never been one to go for “basics” and always struggled with where to find the right ones. Enter, Everlane. I was beyond excited when I was introduced to this brand that not only has the most amazing quality pieces, but also focuses on sustainable and ethical practices (I mean, you can shop and feel good about it, so there’s no reason not to.)

Some of my favourite trends for spring/summer 2021 can be created with the strongest basics – from crop tops to straight leg jeans to the perfect little cardigan. I put all those three together in a look completely from Everlane! I love the colour of this blue cardigan and there are so many ways to style it! From the way I have here, with a black crop top, or draped around your shoulders over an adorable smock dress (like this one) for a chilly night dining al fresco! We can’t mention trends and not mention the straight leg jean. If you’re petite like me, you’ll know that finding the perfect straight leg can feel like a real mission. Lucky for you, I’ve found the perfect pair. This pair from Everlane is also SO SOFT that I don’t ever want to take them off!

So get your wardrobe ready for a new season with lots of memories to be made with my favourite pieces from Everlane, all linked below!

Celebrating the Women Who Inspire Me With Farfetch

STRONG WOMEN

A few weeks ago, Farfetch asked me to share a woman who had inspired me. To celebrate International Woman’s Day, I decided to share how Audrey Hepburn has inspired not only my style but my confidence. I remember I watched Roman Holiday with my parents and was immediately enamoured by Audrey. Through the years, I delved further into her chic style but also into her life. If there was ever a woman who showed you that you could have it all, she was it. I share more about this in my interview with Farfetch, which you can read here.

I loved the way Audrey styled gingham, a pattern that I also adore. I knew I had to incorporate it into my style. She was also the queen of monochrome dressing, so, of course, I kept my look black and white. Add a pair of movie star glasses, and I felt as glamorous as she was.

It would be crazy for me to write this post about a woman who inspired me without addressing what has happened in the world this week. We started the week celebrating women worldwide, which was quickly followed by the unfortunate and heartbreaking news of Sarah Everard in the UK. Most recently, I’ve been shocked and horrified by the attack on 8 Asian American women in Atlanta. This has really highlighted for me how it’s not just about taking style inspiration from the women I look up to, but strength and courage as well. Call out your friends and family, educate yourself and others, and most important speak up, because we are all strong women, and we are in this together.

Welcome Back to The Silk Sneaker

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Sensarma of the Silk Sneaker styles an & Other Stories belted blue sweater dress with a Prada Sidonie Bag

I’m baaaack.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the last time I popped on here to say hello may have been.. November of 2020? Much like everything else in the year that shall not be named, things were sporadic, uncertain and there was a lot of soul searching, 30 second dance routines and bread baking from the confines of our homes. (You can hear “I’m a savage…” playing in the distance as the soundtrack to this part of the post). But here we are, a new year, a new season and things are finally starting to feel better.

This is the part of the post where we all touch wood, say a prayer, and send the good vibes out there.

I went on a bit of a journey this last year, with my Instagram, my presence online and what I wanted to share with you all. In many ways it brought me back to the same place that I was when I first started my blog. To inspire and create a community of global women through a personal lens on style, while creating a beautiful everyday. So here I am, back again, ready to share, but this time while being unapologetically myself. Some would say that is great progress 😛

So, stay tuned for lots of style inspiration, while I share what’s happening over here in London at TSS HQ, while also trying to figure out why Gen Z’s don’t like the 😂 emoji or Harry Potter. Some mysteries may never be solved I guess.

Welcome back to The Silk Sneaker.

How To Navigate The Black Friday Sales in 2020

Luxury blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to navigate the Black Friday Sales of 2020

BLACK FRIDAY 2020

Isn’t it insane that the festive season has already arrived? It feels like just yesterday we were thinking about what we would be doing in 2020. (I don’t think we thought quarantine would be the word of the year though!) What has not changed in the last year though is how stressful navigating Black Friday sales can be! Usually I avoid doing round ups but this year I thought that I would share a few tips and tricks I have picked up over the years when it comes to figuring out what to get and how to avoid those regret purchases!

Along with that, I’ve also highlighted some of my favourite picks from the likes of Farfetch (their selection is awesome, check it out here), Net-A-Porter, Topshop and more! Can’t wait to see if you find something you like!

Tip One: Come prepared

The biggest way to avoid a purchase that you regret later is to go into the sale knowing what you’re looking for. I always like to take a stock of what I already have, and what I need. Once I have that mental list in order, I filter through the selection and I know exactly what I need to add to my wardrobe!

Pro Tip: Always check your wishlist! You never know what’s on sale!

Tip Two: Don’t let the price fool you

One of the most common things that I hear is “Oh I bought this because the discount was so good” – Usually when your purchase is driven solely by price, you land up not wearing the piece at all! You’re better off spending a bit more for a piece you’ll wear much more! Remember what I always say; Cost-per-wear!

Tip Three: Don’t Change Your Size

I have made this mistake so many times. I bought a pair of shoes that was half a size too small because I thought “Ah it’s okay it will stretch”. They did not stretch. I never wore the shoes. The same goes for anything too big! Essentially, just because something is on sale doesn’t mean it’s worth buying if it isn’t going to fit you perfectly! You wouldn’t invest in it when it’s full price so this should be no different.

Here are some of my favourite sales picks. I’ve tried to highlight super-classic pieces that you will wear for a lifetime!

The Most Fashionable Hats for Winter 2020

London Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite and most fashionable hats for winter 2020

HAT-TASTIC

It may be Lockdown 2.0, but that isn’t stopping me from getting dressed up (Have you seen that on my Instagram? hehe!) After all, even daily walks can now be an occasion to wear your favourite sweater or those new ankle boots. My favourite accessory for every season is a good hat. It’s practical (keeps you warm!), it’s stylish, and in the winter, you can even nod to your inner self who does love a dose of Emily in Paris.

If you’re wondering what my favourite type is, it has to be a beret. Since I was a young girl, the beret was a hat that I always wanted to wear. It took me a while to “grow” into it, but now I’m slowly building one up in every colour. I love matching my beret to my outfit. It may be a little matchy but since when was that not something I leaned into right?

So, here are my selections for the best hats of the season!

Hello from Lockdown 2.0

London Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares a fall winter outfit with knee high Miu Miu boots

HELLO AGAIN

Well, hello there! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been a bit quiet here on the blog. If I’m honest, I didn’t know what to say. So much has happened in the last year and we still have a month to go (Although we are hoping that the next few months are more positive and bright!) Either way, I wanted to come back on here and reconnect with YOU, my amazing digital family.

So what’s been up? Well, since March, although most of our plans were cancelled, we still managed to take a trip to the Netherlands. We’ve managed to spend some time with family. We’ve attended a few Zoom weddings, a few Zoom birthdays and even celebrated two of our very close family members get married, in person. Of course, we had our lows,  with one of the most significant blows being having to postpone our wedding. I would be lying if I said that a tear or two hadn’t been shed and that a feeling of helplessness hadn’t taken over at a few different moments along the journey.

At the same time, though, the overwhelming amount of positivity and hope provided by those around us really helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. Which is why I always want to remind you all of the same things. Good things are coming we just have to be patient, and it seems 2020 asks us to be a bit more patient. Even so, you’ve got this.

Thank you Farfetch for gifting these pieces to me.

During the lockdown, I realised that I finally had some time to really focus on the interiors of our home and truly channel and find our interiors style. I quickly discovered that one of my favourite online multi-brands, Farfetch, has an amazing selection of homewares to add some style and colour to your space. I spotted these beautiful vases on their website and added this little trio to my space to add a bit more colour to our very contemporary space.

A lot of you have been asking me for my tips and tricks on how to decorate your space and truly channel your style into your home. Farfetch had the same questions for me and I’ve answered all for you in an interview with them. You can find my interview with them here and you can also find an edit of my favourite homewares available on their website below!
