If there is anything that is brightening up my day, it’s the beautiful weather in London. Even on days forecasted with storms and rains, we get spells of sunshine which means lots of chance to wear a cute summer outfit you’ve been wanting to wear! We’ve already covered all the colours to add to your next summer wardrobe to keep up with the spring-summer trends for 2020, although if you’re a regular reader you’ll know how I feel about trends. Fashion is moving in a much more timeless direction so rather than focusing on trends I’m focusing on items you can add to your closets that will last season after season. So even in my article about the best colours to add to your summer wardrobe, you’ll be able to wear all those colours for years to come.

On that note, we are talking all things summer prints today and trust me guys, you will be reaching for these prints this summer and every summer to come! I know some of you find prints a little bit intimidating especially when you’re not sure what to match them with or whether they suit you or not, so I’m breaking it down for you below. I’m sharing the best way to style these prints as well as some of my favourite pieces so you can create your next cute summer outfit with no hesitation!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite prints for the summer including gingham, stripes and florals

GINGHAM

I am going gaga for gingham! We all know I’m a sucker for plaid and houndstooth so of course, I love their equally chic summer counterpart, gingham. Gingham can sometimes seem a little bit flouncy but when styled correctly it is super fashionable. Think the blue and white gingham set I wore the other day! (Also linked below!) Pair gingham with gingham to create a super put together outfit!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to style a mini summer dress for a cute summer holiday outfit featuring & Other Stories floral dress and prada sandals

FLORALS

Florals for spring and summer? Groundbreaking! Okay, not that groundbreaking but there’s a reason why we keep coming back to this print time and time again. The best part is that florals are great in the autumn too so you can wear these pieces for a majority of the year. I love to mix floral prints together, otherwise, keep it simple and pair with solid colours.

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite prints for the summer including gingham, stripes and florals

STRIPES

When I think of stripes, I think of Breton stripes, the ultimate french girl feel. I know a lot of people are hesitant and feel that stripes make them look bigger but trust me it’s just about smart pairings! If you’re conscious in stripes opt for vertical lines rather than horizontals! Pair with denim or neutral colours – I always like to keep it simple with stripes to make sure it looks elegant.

Before we get into my latest tips for your next summer outfit I have a small not. It’s been an emotionally charged past week and I’ve been talking a lot about how I’ve been feeling, what we’ve learnt and a lot about what you can do on my Instagram. I want to emphasise that although you are here reading about what colours you should be adding into youur summer wardrobe, and my content is going back to fashion, it doesn’t mean that I have become passive in my everyday life. I continue to have these conversations with my friends, my peers and my family and I encourage us all to do the same as change starts with us. Okay, my little speech is over.

If you’ve noticed I’ve been adding a lot of colour to my wardrobe in the past few months. Not only does it make me feel super, it’s also an easy and simple way to take a simple everyday summer outfit and elevate it. Pops of colour are also a great way to make an outfit look more fashion forward. So with all of this in mind, I’ve rounded up my cuurrent favourite colours to add into your summer wardrobe. What’s great about all these colours is that they can easily be mixed and matched with all your favouurite neutral pieces but also with other colours! I’ve highlighted what colours you can match them with to create a colour block look like I did here.

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to create a cute and casual summer outfit with the best mini skirts for summer

YELLOW

Yellow is my new happy colour. Something about it is so bright and happy and it makes me feel that way as well, especially when I wear it during the summer months. Pair yellow with pale or baby blue, pastel pink or lilac. You can keep it simple with white as well. Avoid pairing yellow with black.

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares the colours to add to your wardrobe for summer 2020 to create beautiful summer street style outfits

LILAC

I was a bit late to the lilac party and at first it was a colour I just did not like. I was convinced it did not suit skin tones like mine but I have been since proved wrong. Pair your favourite lilac pieces with blues, whites, creams and pastel pink. You can even pair it with black or dark denim. For winter I also love lilac with plaid.

FUSCHIA

I have rediscovered my love for all things pink, especially fuschia. It’s such a bright and happy colour! Pair this shade of pink (or any shade of pink!) with red for an ultimate fashion girl look. You can also pair it with blues to create a contrast.

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares the colours to add to your wardrobe for summer 2020 to create beautiful summer street style outfits

GREEN

The first school I went to had school houses (a la Hogwarts) and I was in the green house so of course green has made my list. Jokes aside, green isn’t everyone’s first choice but this particular shade of green is making a huge comeback. I would keep it very simple and pair this particular shade of green with neutrals like black, white and beige with touches of gold.

Luxury fashion and beauty blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to use a jade roller and the benefits of crystal face rollers

So, you’ve gotten a facial roller. It might be jade or rose quartz like mine, but you’re staring at it and wondering, how am I supposed to use this? So many women have huge expectations of the results they want to see from using the roller every day but are disappointed when they see no difference at all. If this is you, it’s probably because you aren’t using the roller with the correct technique!

With all the extra time I had in quarantine, I spent a few weeknight sessions on face time with my dermatologist in India who gave me a real tutorial on the correct way to use a facial roller. So rather than writing it all out for you (which really makes no sense!), I’ve recorded a simple video for you which you can find below!

Once you’ve learnt the correct ways to use the jade roller, what you can expect is to get rid of puffiness in all parts of your face and to be able to drain your lymph nodes and sinuses. You’ll start to see a lift in your face as well and over time this technique will help to fill in any lines you may have emerging. Bye bye, future botox right? If you want to learn a bit more about the facial roller you can read my whole guide on it here.

I’ve also linked to some facial rollers to get you started below! I can’t wait to hear what you guys think so leave me a comment with your thoughts!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang shares the best fashion pieces to invest in for a classic post lockdown wardrobe

These Are The Pieces To Invest In For A Post Lock-Down Wardrobe

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang shares the best fashion pieces to invest in for a classic post lockdown wardrobe

I’m sure you’ve read it all before. All the lessons we are learning during this lockdown period, all the banana bread we’ve been baking and the tie-dye we’ve been wearing. Even so, the one lesson that we have glazed over is a style one; the importance of a classic wardrobe. Now I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t had a few moments of online shopping while stuck indoors BUT, everything I’ve bought is something that I can add to my classic wardrobe.

As things start to slow down around us and we start to appreciate the little things again, it’s time to invest in those classic staples your wardrobe will thank you for post lockdown. No, this isn’t a capsule wardrobe. I love fun, colourful and unique pieces that really let your style speak out! As fashion moves into a less trend-driven space, it will truly be the rise of personal style. That being said though, every wardrobe, no matter how eccentric or colourful, need those classic pieces that you can rely on any time.

I’ve collated a little list for you with the pieces to invest in now for your post lockdown wardrobe. Yes, some of these items are luxury items. Why? Because I firmly believe that investing in these pieces will pay off in the long run. Cost per wear right? Don’t worry though, not everything here is on the upper end, there are quite a few pieces that are amazing quality but also happen to be from some of my favourite high street spots. (Like the blazer section!). As always, I want to help you guys navigate through this world and find the best of the best!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares three new ways to wear a blazer for the perfect autumn winter outfit featuring a plaid Zara blazer and pink heels

A BLAZER

How can we have a classic wardrobe without the classic staple? If I’m honest, when I’m in a rush or just feel like looking chic, a blazer is what I reach for. Style it with jeans and a t-shirt for an off duty look or with a bralette and trousers for a super sleek outfit. I’ve highlighted some of my favourite blazers below and you will notice that some of them are high street! Trust me, they are good!

DENIM JACKET

Of course, I’m keeping this classic list relevant to the seasons! Every wardrobe needs a good denim jacket. It’s perfect on its own for a gorgeous spring day or layered with a chic hoodie or even a shearling inner for autumn. Here are my favourite denim jackets that are classic and will last you season after season!

KITTEN HEELS

I think the days of 6-inch heels for meetings around town are long gone and instead, it’s all about having a sense of comfort and style. The kitten heel gives you that tiny lift and looks incredibly chic. This is a prime example of a purchase where you should invest now for long term results. These are the kinds of shoes you wear forever, take to a cobbler when they need a refresh and the cost per wear lands up being more than worth the initial investment.

GOLD JEWELLERY

Gold jewellery is one of the easiest ways to make your outfit look more expensive. There is so much to be said for a touch of gold, whether its a signet ring or beautiful gold hoops. If you have a scroll through my outfits you’ll see I always have at least one piece of gold jewellery on in every single one of my looks. Here are some great pieces to start your collection:

CLASSIC HANDBAG

Do you know what’s made me smile these past few weeks? Your reactions to my IGTV series about my handbag collection! We are only on episode two but already so many of you have messaged me to say that you want to invest in one amazing handbag rather than a huge shopping spree for post lockdown. A classic handbag is an investment that will pay off. It instantly elevates any outfit and you know you are going to get your money’s worth.

Okay, so usually at this time of year I’m creating an ultimate guide to the fashion trends of the season just for you. This year is a little different. I always say that fashion and style is a means of expression, so even in times like these, I look to the world of fashion for inspiration and positivity. So, just as we are all adapting to the new (but temporary) quarantine normal, I am adapting my bi-annual trend guide this year as well. If you felt like you were missing out on being able to style all those adorable spring/summer trends for 2020, then this is for you! Here are my styling tips on how to wear the cutest (and wearable) spring summer 2020 fashion trends at home!

Although I am sitting here writing a trend guide for you, there is one thing you should know about me, and fashion trends. I love fashion but what I love more is style. I think it’s great to keep up with what’s “trending” and what colours are “in” and “out” but ultimately it’s about what speaks to you.

If there’s something that everyone is supposedly wearing but looks terrible on you, my advice would be to ditch it and wear what suits you. That is what I always do and it’s always worked well for me! The world of fashion is moving towards a more trendless, seasonless cycle and it would be a lie to say that this was an unexpected shift. Granted, Covid19 is pushing us there much faster than before, but it’s a welcome change I think for a lot of us. I predict that “trends” will last longer, become more classic and timeless and that personal style will reign supreme!

Okay okay, I will stop predicting and start sharing. With the above in mind, here are my favourite wearable trends that you can make yours at home this spring

THE BOW CLIP

I have always loved hair accessories. They are such a fun way to add the extra feminine to an ultra modern look. This is a great time to support small local businesses and this bow is from a store I discovered on Instagram called Henriette von Grunberg (linked here). You can also find some smaller versions, or bigger here below! Trust me, the bigger the better and you can rock it!

THE GOLD EARRINGS

As we’ve all learnt with Zoom calls, the only part you need to really get dressed up, is the part everyone can see on camera, aka your face! A pair of gold earrings are the perfect way to look more put together and luxe no matter who you’re talking to, from family and friends to a work meeting! Plus, putting on jewellery, even a pair of earrings, will make you feel so much more like you! Trust me!

The easiest way to look more put together on any video call? A nice lipstick. It just screams “I am put together” even if it only takes a second to apply! I’ve linked some of my favourite red lips for brown girls here. tt

Most of you are in the same situation as me, so I don’t have to explain the up’s and downs of lockdown to you. There is no doubt that it’s been a strange month but I will continue to repeat my mantra of “This too shall pass.” At the same time, I’ve discovered some favourites that I wanted to share with you guys. Monthly favourites were something I used to do a lot on my blog and as we are all realising our love for the simpler things again, I thought it would be nice to bring this back, to give us all something to smile about at the end of the month.

As I am sure I am not the only one dealing with some quarantine breakouts, I managed to get on a facetime call with my dermatologist in India who has given me some amazing advice regarding the best face masks to clear up acne which I have shared with you below.

I will also admit that I have done a bit of shopping this past month for a few bits to wear for the rest of lockdown but also some bits that I want to wear when the lockdown is lifted! I’ve shared some of my favourite outfits of the month with you below as well. Which one is your favourite? Of course, there has been more going on than face masks and cute WFH outfits so I just wanted to send some good vibes your way with a dose of what has been inspiring me this month from a few good reads to beautiful imagery. I hope that it makes you smile!

So here’s to another month guys! Hoping for better and brighter days in May and hopefully, some of these bits below can help you get there!

My Favourite…

BEAUTY BITS

Like I said, I have been struggling with my acne again this month. Of course not being able to exercise as much or get as much as sunshine or fresh air as we usually would has contributed to this but most of all I think stress is the major culprit. One part of solving this issue is gaining a better control of my mind and my thoughts, but there are of course more tangible things you can do if you’re in the same boat as me. I have been advised to mask 3-4 times a week (every other day) and to alternate between a few masks that I have. I am LOVING this routine and my skin is really loving it as well. I also have been suffering from severely dry hands and very little actually helps – funnily enough one of my face masks, The Summer Friday Jet Lag Mask is what has really helped my skin get back to normal! Find all my favourite masks of the month below.

My Favourite…

OUTFIT MOMENTS

One of the things that I have appreciated about lockdown is that I have been able to let my creative juices flow and really get back in touch with what I love about fashion and style. There was a point before all of this where I felt almost overwhelmed by all the imagery and noise around me and I needed a moment to step back and get back in touch with my own sense of style and love for fashion. I’ve been forced to get creative in the space that I have and to find new and unique ways to show you guys what I’m wearing. There have been so many moments from this journey so far that I’ve been really proud of and some outfits that I’m so happy I got to share with you! What has been your favourite WFH fashion moment? You can grab some of my favourite pieces below.

While we are all starting to take work from home life in our stride (I hope! Of course, I still have my very low days, it’s a work in progress) I’ve still got one eye on the future. With a bit more time on my hands, I can’t help but browse online for one of my weaknesses… shoes. Cue: Shoes… Let’s get some shoes…

From the perfect pairs of shoes to wear around the house and still look chic to the pairs I can’t wait to wear out once we get past this time, I’ve shared them all with you below. One of the biggest trends I’m seeing for shoes is super strappy sandals and slippers – the ideal 90’s babe style!

The “dad” sandal has gotten a major fashion update and now comes in so many styles that are sure to have you channelling Rosie Huntington Whiteley. No complaints because its the kind of style you can invest in now, wear around the house and then rock out as well. There’s also a big rise in beautiful coloured heels which sits super well with me because we all know how much I love a coloured pair.

I can’t wait to hear which ones you love, are adding to your wishlist or treating yourself too!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of the Silk Sneaker shares how to wear spring summer 2020 fashion trends at home during quarantine

CROCHET

I love crochet. One of my earliest memories of crochet was discovering a gold crochet dress that my grandmother knitted but this material has gotten a very high fashion update (PS: my grandmother’s crochet dress is still ultra chic by the way). From colours to sets, crochet is a new vibe. I even wore a rainbow crochet set on my birthday!

SHORT SHORTS

Wear them high or low waisted, as long as they are short! Short shorts are all the rage and although this can seem like an intimidating style to wear, they are super comfortable and kind of empowering. I just got a pair of bright pink ones that I intend on wearing around the house! If I was wearing them out, I would pair them with a t-shirt and a cute blazer but for home? An oversized tie dye hoodie will do the trick!

BRALETTE

Guys, I was so happy when I got your amazing DM’s and reactions to my Dior bralette and shorts unboxing! I love a good bralette because of all the ways you can wear them. Wear it under a sheer shirt or open your favourite cardigan at home for a supermodel off duty look.

BRIGHT COLOURS

I think this is an example of how trends are going to evolve. Neon has been around for a while now and it’s not going anywhere! Bright colours are such an easy way to spice up your style when you’re at home. Put the black away and reach for one of these instead. PS: Easy breezy dresses are a DREAM to wear at home!! They look good and feel comfortable.

LEATHER

I don’t know if I’m the minority on this but I find soft-touch leather to be so comfortable and so many amazing high street brands are making the most gorgeous faux leather pieces that are super easy to style at home. From Bermuda shorts to tanks, here are my favourites.

POLKA DOTS

Polka dots and I, have a funny relationship. Sometimes I love them, sometimes I just can’t stand them. It all depends on the colour and styling I think. I always find that smaller prints or colours look nicer than the traditional big printed polka dot pieces. Patterns are always an easy way to style a trend for a season while still letting your own style speak! Here are some cute polka dot pieces for home.

7 Easy Ways To Elevate Your Work From Home Outfit

Make sure to turn your Ad Blocker off so you can shop this page!

Hands up if you’ve been struggling to dress up for work from home outfits? As much as I’ve been pushing for all of us to keep dressing up to feel good, even I’ve had days in the last month where the only thing I want to wear were track pants (Luckily, I created an edit of the cutest loungewear pieces around that I recently updated. Click here) Even so, I realised that small changes to my outfit every day instantly elevated my cute and cosy work from home looks to serious spring outfit inspiration! I’ve been loving letting my creativity unleash in this time and really dressing according to how I feel.

It’s helped me further understand what I really like and come up with so many cute little hacks that I never thought of before! I guess there really is something to be said for allowing yourself to get bored – you never know what might come out of it! (Thank’s dad, now I totally get what you’ve been trying to tell me all these years!) So if you’re bored with your latest work from home look and are looking to take it to the next level with minimal effort, here are my 7 tips to elevate that outfit:

Shop My Favourites

A Pop Of Colour Brightens Everything

Someone once told me that when they think of me they think of a monotone outfit. I found that so funny because I LOVE to wear colour! Adding a touch of colour to your outfit no matter how big or small will instantly lift your mood and elevate the look too. No matter tie-dye is trending! Don’t worry, my tie-dye edit is coming soon!

Put On Your Jewellery

Sitting at home during the week means we sometimes forget about the pieces we would wear every day. Putting on my everyday jewellery, even when I’m at home helps me feel more normal and also makes my outfit look cooler. I’ve been adding little necklaces and rings to my looks every day!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of the Silk sneaker shares seven fashion hacks to create cool work from home outfits for spring

Go Monotone

Opting for a top to toe in one colour can be super chic especially when that colour is NOT black. I like to pair my denim with a blue top or my white bottoms with a white top. You can even go bold and wear full colour! After all, this is a great time to experiment with your colourful pieces and gain some confidence in them!

Add Hair Accessories

Want to get your hair out of your face? Opt for that super chic headband! Want to tie your hair? Why not go for a super fun and colourful scrunchie. Adding that little pop of glam to your look is such an easy way to add some fun to your spring look.

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of the Silk sneaker shares seven fashion hacks to create cool work from home outfits for spring

Dress Up Your Joggers

No, I’m not asking you to add a blazer to your look – even I would struggle with that at home I think but there are so many other ways to dress up your joggers! Pair them with a spring blouse you’ve been wanting to wear, or a shirt that you just tie up on your waist. Effortless and elegant.

Go For Pattern Over Plain

The easiest way to elevate your look is to opt for some sort of pattern in your look. Whether it’s an animal print, stripes or even florals to celebrate spring, now is the time to get those patterns out around the house!

Matching Sets Always Work

A matching set is always a great thing to add to your wardrobe. Not only because matching sets look effortless and elegant no matter what (like my rainbow birthday one!) but because you can also easily mix and match the pieces for lots of new outfits later on as well.
