Arguably one of the trickiest fall winter fashion trends of 2019 to style, feather detailing is all the rage. Almost an ode to the 20’s, there is an influx of feather trims, feather dresses and feather tops all over the place, especially in the lead up to party season. After all, nothing says statement Christmas party outfit like feathers, but if you’re wondering how to wear feathers and not look like a bird, you’ve come to the right place.

While this trend might seem tricky to style, it’s actually fun! You can go all out and opt for a dress covered in feathers (how very couture!) or you can try my way, and go for a feather trim instead. I’ve highlighted some of my favourite feather pieces below that are easy to style.

I styled my feather-trimmed sweater with a pair of leather cargo pants and heels. It suddenly makes it seem so wearable right? Always pair your feather piece with something classic and simple so that the outfit doesn’t overwhelm you.

There is something that I just adore about this time of year when the leaves turn golden and the air is crisp. Maybe it’s the idea that I can start to layer outfits and pull out my favourite fall styling tricks, or maybe it’s the feeling of something new on the horizon. Either way, I’m always bursting with cute outfits to wear now, for fall and winter. With today’s look, I wanted to share five tricks to upgrading ANY winter outfit to make it even cuter! Each of these five tips is super easy to do but make a big impact to your look.

Add Prints

Add a pattern to your usual black and white look. Think plaid or houndstooth like my houndstooth skirt here. Just makes the whole look more interesting. Don’t be afraid to mix and match prints.

Pop of Colour

For colder months, add in at least one jewel-toned accessory. I have added in maroon Chanel combat boots. You could add in a beautiful scarf or even a hat!

Keep the Headband

Hair accessories are still here to stay so add in a padded headband to your outfit to make it a little more Parisian. Headbands are the new berets!

Add Texture

Adding texture to any outfit makes it more interesting and is super easy to do in the winter. Think thick cable knits or smooth leather pieces. You can even go bold with vinyl! That shine looks great this time of year.

Go Big With Jewellery

The best things come in the smallest sizes right? Go big with your jewellery game to make even the simplest of outfits cooler. I opted for mismatched earrings, a favourite trend of mine to try.

A 2 Step Smokey Eye Tutorial For Your Next Holiday Party

I always find that smokey eye tutorials can be so overly complicated. They call for so many different products and so many different techniques but let’s be real for a second. When you’re getting ready for your next holiday party, you might not have all the time in the world to experiment and potentially land up with a black eye look right? That’s why I like to keep my party makeup looks easy but still beautiful and my smokey eye step by step tutorial is no different, in fact, this is my easy smokey eye tutorial. It only requires you to have two products, and you can do it in two steps.

Step One:
Grab your favourite eye pencil and make a super thick line. You want a pencil that is creamy and blendable. I use the Armani eye pencil in either black or brown.

Step Two:
Grab the Armani Sheer Fluid in Shade 10 and pump it out onto your hand. With you fingertips, blend into the eyeliner and spread this around your eyelid. Ta-da, you’ve got a smokey eye! What I love about the sheer fluid is that you can use this in other areas of your face to achieve a natural glow and highlight as well.

I don’t think anyone saw the return of the cargo pants coming, but from the runway to the streets, these utility-inspired trousers are back and more stylish than ever. Creating an outfit around cargo pants can be tricky; you want to look elegant and chic while still being trendy. I for one never thought that it was a style I would be wearing until I tried it that is. Now, I’m constantly finding ways to wear my new favorite pants for fall. Here are my top tips on how to wear cargo pants and master this trend this season.

Think Elegant

Cargo pants can be loose and have more of a masculine oversized feel to them. Pair them with fitted tops that are elegant and feminine. Think v neck sweaters or even slim fit blazers. Create a contrast!

Think of the Fit

To really get a high fashion look think of the fit of the pants. I opted for a cuffed pair from Zara. I would look at cargo pants that are cuffed or high waisted (or both!) – they seem more tailored while still getting the look.

Think Colour

Traditionally, you would see these in a khaki or a camo but instead opt for a tan or beige, or even a black leather. It makes for a more refined outfit. Beige is one of those colours that always makes an outfit look much more expensive.

3 Colour Combinations You Need To Try For A Stylish Winter Outfit

When it comes to winter outfits, we tend to sink into what we know, aka black, navy and grey, white roll necks and black ankle boots. This year, I want to encourage you guys to embrace one of my favorite fall-winter trends of the season; COLOR! Instead of reaching for your standard black jeans, opt for one of these color combinations instead! I’m highlighting some of the trending color combinations for the season that are sure to take you all the way to spring 2020. I promise it’s sure to make any fall-winter outfit you wear look so much more luxe as well.

Yellow & Blue

I would make sure that either one or both of the colors is a pastel shade to make this classic combination look chic. I went for pastel shades in both for my outfit. Don’t forget that denim is also blue, and a great thing to rock this time of year!

Pink & Red

This is one of my favorite combinations of all time and it’s incredibly chic. Both these colors are trending for the season and you can go bold with both. Try to pair a bright pink fuchsia with a bright red to really try something high fashion. You can also pair a maroon or brown with an old rose for something more subtle. Either way, have some fun!

Lilac & Brown

We know that purple is not my favorite color but I am partial to a good lilac shade. This combination is all about the shades – the lighter purple and the deepness of the brown always look super expensive and lux. This is a favourite of most fashion forward girls and I guarantee you will fall in love with it. Work in cream accessories to really get a luxe look!

I have always embraced the classic animal prints when it comes to fall outfits but when it came to one of this year’s biggest fall winter 2019 trends, I wasn’t sure if I could get on board. Zebra print seemed like it was a bit too retro for me, but it turns out I was wrong. It’s all about taking a walk on the wild side this season with this print, but don’t worry you don’t need to go crazy to be en vogue. Here are my tips for embracing this somewhat intimidating trend and still looking as classic and chic as ever.

Firstly, look for zebra print pieces that are neutral in colour. I have seen so many prints that are off white and brown, or, like my zebra print skirt, brown and black. The more neutral and sober the colour palette, the chicer this pattern looks.

Secondly, let the zebra shine through! To really let this print come through, refrain from print matching! Instead, opt for a less is more approach and keep the rest of your look simple and classic. I paired my skirt with a plain black turtleneck and thigh-high boots.

If you live in a warmer country (shout out to my girls in India!) you can still rock these neutral animal prints, just opt for a t-shirt on top instead! If you’re feeling really daring, you can even work in some jewel tones into your look but I would refrain from neons or anything too bright!

One of the things I encourage is buying items that will last you for more than one season. Regardless of it being a high street purchase or a luxury purchase, It’s important to think about how much you will actually use the piece (and now it’s important to be conscious about where these pieces are coming from!). I have high street purchases I have made from almost 5 years ago that I still love and wear as much as my luxury ones. Smart shopping right?

So many of you want to get that high fashion luxe look but are looking for the right places to do so on a budget. I’ve come up with a list of places that create the most stunning affordable items that all look luxe. Trust me, whenever I have worn a piece from any of these brands, or shown these brands to a friend, they always assume that it’s a designer!

Note: I have not included Zara on this list because it’s one we already know! They always have gems! Also, it’s always worth checking out vintage and secondhand stores to find those beautiful designer finds for less.

3 Concealer Hacks You Won’t Be Able To Live Without For Dark Circles, Spots & More

What would you say if I told you that you’ve been applying concealer all wrong, all this time? I imagine that the first thing you would want to know is what the right way to use concealer would be right? The first lesson in make up 101 for having that perfect, flawless, base would be how to use concealer to cover up dark circles, dark spots and anything else that’s worrying you this morning. With these three concealer hacks, you’ll be a pro. Get ready to say hello to flawless skin, as long as you follow these tips:

CREATE A TRIANGLE UNDER YOUR EYES

The natural instinct when it comes to covering up dark circles is to make lots of little dots along your under-eye, or one swift line. Right? Wrong! By doing this, you’re drawing more attention to the area rather than covering it. Instead draw an inverted triangle, with the tip pointing towards your cheek. (I’ve marked it in red in the image above!) This way you cover the area while brightening and blending the surrounding area too. The result? An instantly bright complexion!

Pro Tip: Don’t miss the inner corners of your eyes! That makes a LOAD of difference.

CREATE YOUR OWN TINTED MOISTURISER

Usually, I would say that you apply your foundation first and your concealer second, but a lot of us don’t enjoy wearing foundation on an everyday basis right? If you want something that adds a bit more coverage to your face without being too heavy, you can always mix your concealer with your daily moisturizer to create your own tinted moisturizer! Go over any blemish areas with your concealer after applying!

DAB, DON’T RUB

When it comes to application, there is a wrong way and a right way. I know so many women who rub in their concealers, especially in the under-eye area. Don’t rub, Dab. Use your ring finger to gently dab your concealer into your skin to properly blend it. Why? This is gentler on your skin, especially in delicate areas like your under eye. It helps to blend the colour better as well, especially if you use a colour corrector. You’ll start to see a huge difference with this small adjustment!

What was once thought to be an overly preppy piece, the blazer has now become the go-to for every fashionista around. For some of you, blazers make you think of Monday morning but I am here to change that and show you three brand new ways to wear a blazer to create a super elegant fall outfit. Dress It DownDress your blazer down by pairing it with its exact opposite; a hoodie. I love the contrast you can create by putting these two pieces together. It’s an easy outfit formula that is guaranteed to look stylish. You can opt for an oversized blazer if you want to create a relaxed look. Go All The WayThe next time you reach for your plaid blazer, why not go all the way with the look? Pair it with a pair of matching plaid pants, or even a plaid skirt. To stop the look from looking too corporate, work in your accessories! Think Gucci and go for statement sunglasses chains or chunky gold jewellery. Keep It ClassicMy favourite way to wear a blazer is to keep it classic. Pair it with jeans and a sweater for a super sleek fall outfit. Add pops of colours with your shoes and bag and don’t forget to add in at least one statement accessory. Maybe a fun headband (or two!) For my fall blazer outfit, I went for a houndstooth blazer with a white hoodie. I wanted to keep the outfit casual yet chic, so I wore a matching houndstooth belt with some flowing black shorts.
