My Holy Grail Hair Products For Better, Stronger Hair

The Hair Products I Swear By

Since I was a child, my mother has always taught me the importance of taking care of my hair. For as long as I can remember, I’ve brushed my hair 100 times every day (that’s 50 times front and 50 times flipped over), I’ve always protected my hair from tools that apply too much heat, and I’ve oiled my hair regularly. I feel like haircare is very much a part of Indian beauty culture. The oil I used growing up was a special mix my mother made for me with local ingredients, but once I moved to London I had to maintain my mane.

My list of the best hair products are a mix of shampoos, masks and oils that I have used for many years, and some that have made a recent entrance into my closet but I know will be there for a long long time. Ever since I posted this video on Instagram, I’ve been getting more and more questions about what products I recommend for your hair. I’ve put together my favourite shampoos, hair masks, dry shampoo and hair oil that you can use for stronger, better hair this year.

MY FAVOURITE SHAMPOOS

Growing up, I tried a lot of different shampoos. My all time favourite when i was younger was Garnier Fructis; until I discovered Aesop one summer.

The Aesop shampoo was the perfect balance of moisture for my ends, balance for the dryness in my scalp and cleanliness for my this hair. This is a shampoo I’ve used for years and I keep coming back to it, time after time.

I recently also discovered the Ouai Clean Shampoo. Now unless your hair is incredibly thick, I wouldn’t recommend using something like this. I would however recommend checking out their range. I love that it’s paraben and sulphate free and it really gets the job done!

Last but not least, if you are looking for a more affordable option, I highly recommend Grow Gorgeous. Their range smells amazing, is chemical free, and is affordable. Their latest R&R range is very good.

Currently experimenting with: Sachajuan. Stay tuned for more on that.

Top Tip: There’s more to brushing your hair than you thought. Brush your hair 50 times from scalp to tip before flipping your hair over and repeating the same on the underside of your scalp. This improves circulation and growth!

MY FAVOURITE DRY SHAMPOO

When I moved to London and discovered dry shampoo, I was really disappointed with the few I tried. A majority of them left streaks in my hair, making my hair feel lifeless, dry, and just plain strange looking.

This was until I started using the Ouai Dry Shampoo Foam. Although the texture can be strange at first, this foam leaves no white marks in your hair, and actually leaves your hair feeling clean, shiny and life like.

I’ve never looked back after using this; especially helpful for running from the gym to dinner!

MY FAVOURITE HAIR MASK

I am very careful about what I put in my hair and very critical of new products. When I first bought the Gisou hair mask, I was afraid it was going to be an Instagram gimmick. I am so happy it wasn’t.

Infused with enriching honey, this mask is the perfect indulgence in the shower. It’s the best thing to use if you feel your hair is dry from heat tools, the sun, or the beach.

I like to use my mask once every two weeks as a special treat. It always gives me that kick of moisture I need. Since I have a dry/oily scalp though, I try not to use it more than this so as to not ruin the balance of my hair!

Top Tip: Make sure you use a good quality brush. Although the hair brush I use is expensive, it lasts for life. Different bristles are for different types of hair.

MY FAVOURITE HAIR OIL

Growing up, I only applied the hair oil my mother made for me. Once I moved to London, with less time to actually oil my hair, I needed something quick and easy that I could apply every day that wasn’t harmful.

I admit, I was very hesitant of Gisou when it first came out but something inside me felt I should give it a try. Today, it’s one of the products that not only I’m hooked on to, but my mother is too. It gives your ends beautiful moisture, preventing split ends and helps your hair stay healthy and strong. It’s paraben and sulphate free as well.

Although this is pricey, each bottle lasts for a long time. You only need a very small amount to do the job.

Currently experimenting with: The new Jo Malone hair oil. Stay tuned for more on that!
