3 Ways To Use Lipstick That You Haven’t Thought of Yet…

Your Most Versatile Makeup Tool; Lipstick

One of the things I love about makeup is how versatile and multipurpose it is. Just because something is made for a specific part of your face, doesn’t mean you can’t use it in a hundred other ways. Take your favourite lipstick for example. Did you know that there are tons of other ways to get the most out of your all-time favourite shade? Today I’m here to brighten up your winter makeup routine and show you how to inject a little bit more colour and fun into your everyday beauty routine. These are my three favourite ways to use lipstick and three ways that you haven’t thought of yet! Trust me, you’ll be walking into spring looking brighter and feeling better once you have these hacks under your beauty belt!

As A Colour Corrector

Dark circles are something that every girl has and struggles with. You can cover them up with your concealer but most of the time it’s not a clean slate that you end up with, but layers and layers of concealer. What you need is your favourite red/orange lipstick. Our dark circles have a blue undertone. To combat this, you need to correct the colour on your skin by using an opposite colour; red/orange. If you have a fair complexion, I would suggest red. If you are closer to my complexion, go for more of an orange. I use the Chanel Rouge Allure in shade 96. Apply the lipstick on your dark circles using a lip brush. Then dap your concealer on top and blend. You’ll end up with an orange colour correction. You can then apply more concealer on top to blend or foundation! The finished product? Perfectly bright eyes and skin!

As Eyeshadow

A beauty trend for 2018 is matching your eyes and your lips. The runway has been full of pink eyelids to match glossy pink lips. An easy way to get that look is with the Dior Lip Glow. Just apply directly on your eyelids and then on your lips. If you’re looking for something a bit smokier and bolder though, try this. Apply your lipstick of choice on your eyelids and dab so that it starts to blend in. Then, with your fingers or your flat eyeshadow brush, apply your eyeshadow of choice on top and start to blend! What you get is a very smokey and gorgeous colour that has the same tint to your lips! Perfect for girls night out!

As A Blush

A lot of the times I use my lipstick as a blush because the pigment is much stronger and there are so many more fun shades to choose from! Something I love to do in winter and spring is to mix my lipstick with a few drops of my favourite liquid highlighter. The result is a blush with some shimmer! This also lightens the lipstick colour making it more wearable for your cheeks! The perfect way to add some shine and colour to your face! Plus, it stays on much longer than any powder blush!

The Best Foundation For Sensitive Acne-Prone Skin

If You Get Acne, You Are Not Alone…

I have incredibly sensitive, acne-prone skin. It’s something I’ve suffered from for a majority of my teenage years and although I’ve found that my skin has gotten a lot better with certain changes, It’s still an issue I battle. One of the biggest changes in my skin came when I changed my make up. Not all makeup, or foundations, are good for sensitive, acne-prone skin. In fact, some of them inflame this kind of skin type further! That is why over the years I’ve had the chance to try and test the very best and the very worst foundations for acne prone skin and today I wanted to share my three favourites with you.

In addition to the three that I have highlighted below, I’m going to be trying out the new Giorgio Armani foundation over the next month as I’ve heard wonderful things about it, especially from people who have a similar skin type to mine. I’ll be sure to keep you posted on my findings! I do know for sure though that the three foundations I have highlighted below, worked the best for my very sensitive skin and I was able to see a difference in my complexion pretty quickly. Scroll down to find out my favourite foundations!

Dior Star Foundation

For special occasions, nights out, or just on a wonderful sunny day, I always prefer a slightly dewy finish. By dewy, I do not mean oily, but rather more of a glow. This Dior foundation does exactly that while being kind to the skin. It’s the best way to achieve that natural glow you’re after. In terms of coverage, I find that this covers most of my pigments and scars and has a strong coverage. It creates a flawless finish that makes me feel so confident without the fear of a break out!

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation

This is my everyday choice. The Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation comes from one of the oldest apothecaries in the world. The original formula comes in only two shades, If that sounds scary to you, it’s actually not! The foundation works with the natural colour of your skin and blends in seamlessly. It’s also a formula that works on your skin while you wear it, improving your complexion and your appearance. This is what I usually have on in my Instagram photos, and has quickly become one of the products I can’t do without. It’s a buildable foundation but if you’re looking for stronger coverage, use it with the No concealer concealer from Perricone!

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue

When I first moved to London, this was the first foundation I discovered that actually worked well with my skin. It worked so well that one of my best friends started to use it as well! To be fair, it’s more of a tinted moisturiser than a foundation but I find that it still does the trick! It provides a dewy finish and although it does not offer full coverage, it is buildable so you can continue to apply it on concern spots until you feel it’s fully covered! I loved that when I did that, it never looked cakey! I wear shade Tan 07
