How To Style Your Summer Dress With Sneakers

When it comes to creating casual summer outfits, there is nothing a pair of sneakers can’t do. One of my favourite outfit formulas is pairing a flowy midi summer dress with a pair of my favourite sneakers. Although it might not sound like a combination that would work, wearing a dress and sneakers is actually one of the coolest outfit combinations that also happens to be seriously trending right now. (Don’t worry, this is not a trend that will die either. Who would want to give up looking cute AND feeling comfortable). Since I am, after all, The Silk SNEAKER, I wanted to focus today’s outfit on sharing a few tips to matching your favourite trainers with your favourite summer dress for your next weekend outfit.

1. Length doesn’t matter
The great thing about pairing a dress with sneakers is that the length doesn’t matter. I have worn my sneakers with mini dresses, midi dress and even maxi dresses. It completely depends on the look you’re going for. Where mini dresses and maxi dresses give off more off a “cool” casual vibe, a midi dress and sneakers is perfectly balanced; not too casual and not too formal. Just perfect!

2. Low Tops Are The Most Versatile
I always find that white low top sneakers are the most versatile because they literally go with everything. Currently, my favourite is from sustainable brand Veja. I’ve been eyeing and admiring the brand for a long time and I finally found a pair that I fell in love with. It makes me really happy to know that the sneakers I’m wearing every day are made from a sustainable brand that are taking active steps to make our world a better and cleaner place to live.

3. Your Other Accessories Can Be Formal
Just because you’re wearing sneakers, doesn’t mean you can’t wear more feminine accessories. For my outfit, I added in a gold chain belt and cat eye sunglasses. The rest of my accessories are way more formal than my sneakers but it still works. You could wear any mix of accessories, which is why this is such a great outfit combination!

Summer Sunglasses: Part Two

Sunglasses to complete your look, but also elevate it…

In part one of this series with my amazing friends over at Sunday Somewhere I introduced you to two must have sunglasses for the summer. Both shapes were classics that completed any look. Today, I’m here to introduce you to two more sunglasses that will not only complete your look, but will also elevate it. I find that I reach for both these sunglasses when I’m looking to add that extra special touch to my outfit. I’m sure that they will work for you too! Scroll down to find out more!

So this first pair of sunglasses it not a pair I would usually go for. that being said, as my regular readers know, I’m all about taking risk with fashion and trying something new. Risks pay off because I fell in love with this pair immediately. A classic shape with a bit of a twist, I love the somewhat masculine frame to add a bit of edge to a feminine summers dress. The black detailing at the top of the lenses adds a new point of interest to this whole outfit without having to try too hard at all. All in all, this shape is the best way to elevate a look while still feeling effortless! Just a quick note about the shoes – I bought these sequins high tops when I was fourteen!

This second pair, I admit, is one of my most favourite sunglasses ever. Any avid follower of TSS will recognise these sunglasses from my Instagram – my favourite round pair of sunglasses. Round sunglasses are a classic shape that never go out of style – essentially, you cannot go wrong with them! I love these because of the gold frame. It immediately adds a touch of something special to your outfit. Needless to say, the amount of compliments I get on an outfit increases significantly when I have these round sunnies on!

Summer Sunglasses: Part One

Your New Favourite Accesory

Sometimes its the simplest details that can transform an outfit. In this case, or rather in this series, it’s your sunglasses. Like everything in fashion, sunglasses too have their trends for 2017. Who better than the hottest new sunglasses brand around, Sunday Somewhere, to help me show you guys the best sunglasses for your face shape! This was one of my favourite projects to shoot in India so far and I loved all the amazing support you guys showed over Instagram during my shoot! So without further ado, I give you a how-to on transforming your look from good to great with just your sunglasses. Make way for the next street style star; you!

A stripe dress is always a classic especially for the summer. But what takes a stripe dress to the next level? The perfect sunglasses of course! The amazing mirrored lens on these elevates my entire outfit and makes the whole look so much more interesting. Plus, I love the way the colours of this gorgeous Mumbai market reflect onto them! This kind of shape is perfect for a heart, oval and round shaped faces!

For my next look, I of course needed a different pair of sunglasses! One of the coolest trends right now are tinted lenses. The best part about this round pair is that you can buy into the trend in a timeless way. The lenses on these are also sheer but they aren’t coloured so you can get the look, the classic way! This shape is also particularly in trend and immediately gives my whole outfit the retro feel I was going for. Without the sunnies, it would have been incomplete! I love that they are still subtle though! This kind of shape is perfect for almost all face shapes including heart, oval, round and square!
