A Spring Sweater…

The spring sweater, a wardrobe must have for the in between season…

Just a few more weeks of actual sweater weather to go, and with the weather warming up, my sweaters are getting lighter and lighter. What I love most about my spring sweaters is their little details, with this gorgeous Sandro one being one of my favourites. (I’ve linked to similar ones at the bottom!) I just love the neck detailing on the sweater, with the frills really suiting the mood of spring There is something so happy about the season right? Maybe it’s cause it means my birthday is coming, or maybe I just love it when the sun shines… I think it’s both!

When a piece like this has those extra details, you don’t actually need that much – a simple sweater and pants combo does the trick, but it’s the little additions like the frill on the sweater and the obi belt on the pants that really make this outfit a great one!

Bows and frills sound very girly, but the all black and navy colour tones add that extra edgy feel to the whole look, and with a patterned black and white bag, it strikes the perfect balance! With my favourite gucci loafers (I can’t get over the furry bit! Keeps my feet nice and toasty..) I was ready to go – I managed lunch, a day out and even dinner all in this look, just showing how versatile it is!

When I do a little recap of S/S 2017, I remember noticing that the mood for spring was a bit of edgy meets a lot of feminine. Florals, and ruffles are going to be taking over this season so there seems to be no better way to ease in to the new mood with some pieces that share all those special little details.

In other news, my newsletter goes out today and I have some very exciting news to announce on there! You don’t want to miss out on this so be sure to hit subscribe at the top of the page to sign up for my big news!

Statement Sleeves to Move to Spring

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker showcases how to style statement sleeves for now and spring 2017

Statement sleeves aren’t new to the game but they are very much here to stay this spring/summer! With the weather here in London at least (Sorry to all my readers in NYC! That snow looks caraazaay) finally starting to warm up, it’s time to start thinking about all those pieces you need for your spring wardrobe, starting with the statement sleeves of course! There is something so romantic about spring, and flared sleeves like these get that mood just right! Plus, they’re just quite fun to dance around in, as you will see through the photos below…(I swear I’m actually quite a good dancer..)

There is something romantic about spring and flared sleeves get the mood just right…

What I love most about statement sleeves like these is that they add an element of drama to your outfit without having too much going on. It’s a great way to make your whole look really stand out. Just make sure you don’t get your sleeve in any pasta.. Yes, I’ve done that and that is not the drama you’re after (ha… ha)

Style Tip: Flared oversized sleeves pair super well with a wrap skirt like this. The slit balances out the long sleeves!

I paired this sweater with one of my favourite wrap skirts. I love that it’s wool so it works really well for the season, but more than that for me it’s about that gorgeous slit! The slit balances out the oversized sleeves on my sweater, and balance is what every outfit needs!

With flared sleeves like these, you can also opt for some straight leg jeans or skinny leggings – I’ve linked to some of my favourite statement sleeve tops below so be sure to check them out so you can get the look now and for spring!

With this fairly neutral outfit, I wanted to add a pop of feminine colour through my accessories. I opted for one of my favourite bags from Dior. I love the dusty pink colour – it’s a great neutral but also adds that touch of colour I’m looking for when I have a very neutral combo on! You can tell it’s one of my favourite colours because I even have sneakers that are the same colour!

A lot of you were asking about these sneakers on Instagram! My pink sneakers are actually from Lanvin, they are an old pair but they are gold because I never ever get sick of them! I actually stumbled across these fur pom poms at Fenwick on Bond Street. They have a little clip so you can clip them on to your shoes, or if you were really getting creative you could clip them on somewhere else too! (I was thinking the loops on my jeans? Belt?)

I love that I can just take these little pom poms on and off and they are the perfect little accessory to have. I noticed that furry accessories are making a big comeback on the NYFW runway so I would get these little pom poms in lots of colours! These are from Helen Moore England and I’ve provided a link for them below! I hope you all are having a lovely Tuesday and of course Happy Valentines Day! I’m really feeling the love for all my amazing readers – you guys are so supportive! Thank you <3

Buckles and Bows

When I looked out the window today I saw that the sun was shining and I suddenly realised, Spring is around the corner isn’t it? Which means that as much as I am beyond excited for the cherry blossoms outside my home to bloom, to get all my summer dresses and spring jackets out, and to of course celebrate my birthday (Clearly the most important day of the year… Duuhhh!) I also just want to take a moment to enjoy wearing all my favourite winter things – like fishnet stockings, adorable sweaters and boots. Nothing quite says London winter like all black and buckling down with a pop of colour and a sweater skirt combo with adorable details.

It’s all about the buckle details in this outfit…

When I found this sweater I was immediately obsessed with the gorgeous little buckle detail. Shortly after I stumbled across this skirt with similar buckle details on the side. I couldn’t resist the combo. It was like a match made in heaven, wouldn’t you agree? It comes as no surprise to all of you I’m sure that I opted for an all black look, there is nothing quite as chic and classic but I can never resist a pop of colour like this one from one of my favourite bags everrrrr.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about my style and the evolution that it’s taken in the last year. I’m a big fan of anything with a little bit of personality, and I always find that little details count in making an outfit a little more you, but also eternally stylish. For me it came in the form of this outfit with all the adorable buckles and tie up details. What I love most about this combo is that it’s so wearable for everyday – no matter what you’re doing, meetings, lunches, drinks or dinner, this outfit will take you far!

All black with a touch of colour is always timelessly chic…

Although some claim that an all black look is anything but exciting, I disagree completely. Take this one for example, with little details and a mix of textures with the fishnet stockings and the leather boots, the outfit has a whole new sense of style to it. Black is also a great colour to add a pop of colour with, something like orange or blue stand out so beautifully and is sure to get you noticed in the best way!

With this all in mind, I’ve been working hard on updating my Shop section (see above in the menu bar!) so that I can constantly bring you guys all my favourite pieces that are exactly what you need in your closet, no matter the season, trend or time! Have you checked out the shop section yet? I’m sure you’re going to love it! It’s full of pieces that have the perfect little details and help you really speak through your style!

How to Mix Winter Textures and Patterns

Textures & Patterns, Patterns & Textures

Although it may seem incredibly intimidating, mixing textures and patterns is much easier than we think. We admire street style stars and runway shows for their effortless ability to do this and look presentable, no, stylish and we wonder, could I be a texture and print mixologist? Of course you can! I’m a massive fan of mixing textures because I feel like it’s such an easy way to add life and interest to an everyday outfit. This time I tried to throw in some pattern as well to really create a unique look that’s still easy to wear! There are some simple tips to keep in mind when you’re doing this.

Tip 1: Be Mindful of your Colour Choice

Colours are as important as the patterns you choose to put together. I tend to opt for neutrals or blues when mixing pattern and texture. You don’t want your colour choice to be too bold, otherwise it can look like too much! I went for a neutral white and a blue and white striped skirt with black accessories – very understated colours but bold patterns and textures!

Tip 2: Texture and Pattern go together

Patterns and textures together are an easy way to ease yourself into mixing prints. Textures are usually a bit more subtle than a pattern, so if you pick a bold texture like cable knit, you can opt for a bold pattern like stripes too! Some of my other favourites would be mixing winter velvet and plaid – a perfect winter combination!

I am also in love with this sweater I saw at & Other stories and it’s been popping up all over my Instagram feed as well – the cross over knit pattern is another great one to pair with some bold stripes, or even with florals as a way to ease into spring! I’ve linked directly to it below! On that note, I find that mixing patterns and textures is a great way to ease yourself from your winter wardrobe into your spring one! Try it!

Tip 3: Have Fun With It!

Do you know what speaks louder than anything? Confidence! Don’t be afraid to have fun with what you’re wearing and be confident in your choice! When you wear something with confidence it really shows so although it may be a step outside your comfort zone, just go with it and you’ll rock it!

Fashions New Favourite Material

Vinyl is not as intimidating as you might think…

Vinyl is one of those fabrics that you really didn’t want present in your wardrobe. It squeaks when you move, it’s incredibly shiny and when you put it on you wonder, how in the world am I supposed to pull this off without looking like a number of innapropiate things? Well fashion’s love hate relationship with vinyl is about to take a turn for the better, and this new material is taking our wardrobe’s world by storm. If you haven’t noticed it already, vinyl has been popping up all over the blogosphere and is set to be your new favourite material for 2017. If you feel as though it’s hard to style, I’m hoping my latest look is here to inspire you otherwise. Vinyl is not as intimidating as one might believe…

I found this skirt at Topshop and couldn’t resist. Although I picked it up a while ago, there are some amazing options out there that are similar like this one and this one. The key to vinyl is to make sure that you pair it with neutrals. A black vinyl skirt is paired best with some white. If the weather had permitted I would have ideally liked to have styled it with my new Gucci tee, but although the sun is shining, the temperature continues to drop. I opted for this striped sweater from Reiss. I love that the stripes are actually furry! (faux!) Adding some extra texture in a neutral colour like white is a great way to rock vinyl and get a bit more experimental with your look as well! See not so hard is it?

My week has begun with quite a hectic start – I’ve ben loving that I share a bit more about what’s going on with me through these outfit posts, what do you guys think? I’ve been having a lot of family time this week and I’m so thankful for that – I always find that time with my family really recharges me when I’m feeling a bit tired and low!

To add a bit more TSS to my look, I decided to add some graphic tights to my outfit. Again, these tights are in neutrals which is why I am able to mix all the patterns together with the vinyl and still have it look put together! Would you wear graphic tights?

Now you are all ready and set to get some vinyl in your closet! How will you be styling it?

My Favourite Coat to Combat the Cold

When it’s this cold, don’t leave your coat at home…

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shows how to style a teddy bear coat for the winter

So I’ve been stuck in my bed fighting off a horrible cold (Gasp! I had to skip spin… it upset me very much to miss the Craig David themed right…) but I wanted to share this outfit that I photographed a little while ago. I don’t need to tell you how cold it is… you know how cold it is. Rather, you can feel how cold it is whenever you step outside the house and you wonder to yourself… how many more sleeps till we wake up and the sun is shining and it’s spring already? Even the cherry blossoms outside my house are impatient….

But, even in the bitter cold there is something sweet – there is no other time that we can pull out all our super cozy coats and feel as snuggly as we would right now. Take this fabulous coat for example from Topshop. It’s like a giant white teddy bear constantly hugging me to keep me sheltered from the bitter bitter wind of London. I mean what more could you ask for? It even looks fabulous! Don’t you agree?

The creamy white colour of the coat makes it feel even more chic. I paired it with my favourite black and white pieces of the moment. If you were reading yesterday, you would have seen that plaid is a pattern that is here to stay (It’s all over the resort scene – you can read more about that and how to incorporate those trends for 2017 now right here!) This skirt is the right pattern as well as the right fit to match the coat perfectly!

I paired the skirt with another favourite of the moment – a high neck black sweater with sheer sleeves (Scroll down to see more details!) The sleeves are not only mesh, but also polka dotted! (Another resort trend down!) The whole fit of it comes together so well and I love that there are so many little details! I completed the outfit with a vintage suede Fendi bag found in the back of my mums closet (Thanks mom!!)

In other news I’m considering doing something new to my hair. I love how short it is now and I love curling it because it’s such a great change from my usual straight slick hair – but do you guys have any other ideas for something I could try? A new cut? Please feel free to share!

Although this coat is one that I bought ages ago, It’s still one that I can’t stop wearing! It’s kept me cozy and happy in the worst of weather and the best part is, it’s from Topshop! I’ve found some similar ones for you guys here and on sale from ASOS and here from Revolve for under £120 so you can get the look and feel it too!
