What a lot of you tend to forget, is that not only am I a fashion blogger, but I am a petite fashion blogger. When most of you meet me for the first time, the one statement I always hear is “Wow, I thought you would be so much taller”. There is no escaping the fact that I am a mere 5’1 but being petite, I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve to help you look taller in your next winter outfit.

1. Pointed Toes Are The Best Option
Although you might see a lot of square fronts or round fronted shoes, pointed shoes are your best friend. They give the illusion of more height. This trick works not just for your favourite heeled boots, like my over the knee suede boots that I’m wearing here, but also for flats! It’s a great way to make yourself look taller while still wearing flats.

2. Show off your waist
I cannot stress this point enough. If you remember my post on layering as a petite girl, you’ll know this trick already! Highlighting your waist makes you look taller as it gives the illusion of longer legs. It also helps your clothes to fit better. You don’t want to look like you’re swimming in your clothes! I did that here with my new Dior belt.

3. Tie Your Hair!
This is actually one of the easiest ways to look taller this winter. Keeping your hair off your face isn’t just good for your skin but it gives you some heigh too! Apart from the obvious height, you gain with your ponytail, by letting your face shine clearly, you appear taller too!

Of course, it also helps to show a little bit of skin. I did that her with this black slit skirt. A great way to recreate this look for when it really starts to get cold would be to wear opaque tights underneath!

So did you know these tips? Will you be trying them? Comment below!

3 Things To Wear To Make You Look Taller

How To Look Taller, in 3 Easy Steps

From one petite girl to another, (That’s right, I’m only 5’1, that’s 156 cm…) the struggle is real when you want to wear all the amazing pieces that your height gifted friends are able to pull off. With a lot of trial and practice, I’ve perfected the easiest ways to make yourself look taller no matter what. All you need is three very simple things! Firstly, always opt for a V- neck or a sweet heart neck. It elongates the upper half of your body and prevents you from looking stunted. Crop tops are also a perk if it’s summer as they have the same effect! (Ariana Grande’s Love Me Harder video is playing in the background and I can see her wearing a crop top and looking mighty tall – she’s pretty much my height!) I opted for this House of Sunny crop top that also has a v neck! The perfect top for a petite girl! Secondly, high waists are your number one friend. Whether it’s a paper bag waist or not, a high waisted item will always elongate your figure. Additionally, when going for something high waisted, go for a cinched waist. By adding definiton around your waist, like I did with my belted Tibi pants, you give your silhouette definition and shape. This makes you look taller.  Lastly, the simplest way to make yourself look taller is with a pair of pointed toed shoes. I actually only learnt this trick recently when I bought my all time favourite Jimmy Choo flats. They have a pointed toe and no matter what I wear them with, I look taller. I’m not sure what it is about pointed toes that do the trick, but the fact that it works is enough for me!
