By now we are all familiar with the trends for autumn winter 2018-2019; leopard prints, cowboy boots, belt bags and so much more. (In case you aren’t familiar with them though, you can read my post about the trends you can actually wear and should wear right here). What you may not be familiar with though are some of the micro trends, mainly the micro jewellery trends for the season. My favourite, of course, is mismatched earrings. If you’ve been watching my outfits closely over the past year and if you have a sharp memory from London Fashion Week, mismatched earrings are something I’ve been wearing for a little while now. I love the playfulness of this trend and it really gives you the opportunity to get creative with your collection. Someone once asked me if I had any tips to make a trend that seems so intimidating, more wearable, so ive broken it down into three do’s and dont’s to wearing mismatched earrings:

Do’s
Do play with length: What’s great about this trend is that you can wear one earring that’s incredibly long and one stud. Asymmetry works really well with this trend.
Do play with shapes: It also works to pair shapes together, for example, you can pair a large statement hoop with a tiny stud. In fact, Dior sells pairs of earrings that are like that.
Do match materials: A great way to make this trend more wearable for you is to match stones. If one side has pearl details, make sure the other side does as well. Same with metals, keep it to gold or silver.

Don’ts
Don’t Mix two statements: The mismatched look is statement enough, so make sure that one side is the “statement” and the other side is subtle.
Don’t be afraid: Wear this trend with confidence. One of the biggest tricks I’ve learnt when it comes to wearing anything is that if you believe it everyone else will too. Wear it with confidence because it looks great!
