How To Wear A Neon Outfit & Look Chic

It’s all about how to wear neon this spring time!

One of the biggest fashion trends of 2019 is neon. Not only is neon big for spring summer, but it’s also carried itself into the fall-winter 2019 shows as well. Now, I know what you’re thinking. Admiring a neon street style outfit is one thing and wearing it is a whole other thing. So here’s the real question, how do you wear neon and still look chic? More like, how do you wear neon on a regular day and not look like a walking traffic cone/highlighter. I have been determined to figure it out and I’m happy to announce I finally have! Here are my three tips on how to wear neon green pink or whatever colour you want a daily basis and still look chic.

1. Avoid stark contrasts like white or black
When wearing neon, you want your entire outfit to fit together and look like it all belongs together. Avoid stark contrasting colours like black or pure white because that will make the neon piece stand out even more, and not necessarily in a good way. That being said, you can wear dark colours like navy blue or light colours like cream like how I wore neon at London fashion week!

2. Colour blocking with neon works
Just because something is neon, doesn’t mean you can’t wear another colour. Something that works super well with neon is denim blue. If you’re wearing neon green, the easiest way to make it work for an everyday spring outfit is to pair it with your favourite blue jeans. Blue and green can be considered as colour blocking and it works super well with making your neon jumper or t-shirt look incredibly chic.

3. Stick to one
The number one rule to follow is that if you’re wearing neon, keep it to one neon piece. Avoid pairing your neon top with neon accessories or clothing. Having one point of focus in your outfit and working your pieces around that make your outfit look classier! For my look, I focused on my neon green jumper and let my other accessories compliment the look like my blue Emma Hyacinth shoes (they look like Manolo’s don’t they? I found them at a store in St. Christophers Place!) and my monogram Louis Vuitton bucket bag.

Crochet & Denim Stars

It’s Finally Time for Denim Shorts!

I’ve clearly got a thing for stars and denim, and here is another embellished denim piece that I couldn’t wait to show you! These star shorts are one of my favourite pairs for summer! I chose to add some colour to this look with another statement piece. Although I usually don’t pair a lot of statement pieces together, I found that they all matched so well! This jacket is another amazing summer item because it’s so light weight and I love the little crochet details! Plus, yellow is having a major moment next to millennial pink! My third and final statement piece for this look came with my brand new Radley bag. The studs on the bag add such a chic and edgy feel to my outfit. It’s also a great way for me to dress up my favourite jeans and tee combo, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing with this bag so far! It’s also the perfect size, so it fits everything I need and looks so stylish at the same time! Cute right? The beauty with all these items is that they all look amazing separately, yet they all look great together too. I would wear these shorts on repeat with a linen shirt, or even with stripes! The jacket would be fabulous for the city, or for your next festival break and this Radley bag literally matches with anything!

My New Favourite Denim: Joe’s Jeans

Flares, Two-tone, embellished; Joe’s Jeans has it all…

I’ve been teasing an amazing denim post for the past two weeks and here it is! I’m so excited to reveal this beautiful shoot I did styling Joe’s Jeans. There are two things that I find most important when looking for a great pair of jeans. First, the fit. Second, the feel. Being incredibly petite, I struggle with good fit and length for my jeans. Unfortunately, when the fit isn’t right, the feel isn’t either. After all, to look good in denim you’ve got to feel good! Joe’s Jeans were one of the few jeans that I slipped on that ticked both those boxes. The first pair, are an embellished denim pair. I love the lace inserts but I also love the skinny fit that is high waisted! I love anything high waisted (petite girls am I right?) It felt like such a unique pair with the beautiful lace and something that I could dress up or down. I’ve worn these jeans everywhere – from a talk, to out to dinner to lunch! Talk about versatile! The second pair was a new denim experience for me. I don’t usually go for flared jeans, but I love that the flare is mainly towards the bottom of the leg. This way I didn’t feel lost in them, rather I actually felt quite cool! It only felt right to go with the cowboy hat for that look. Admittedly, I shot this right after I saw the Dior Cruise show and was feeling quite inspired! The last pair is another lace denim piece, but the wash and fit are different. These are much more casual but as comfortable. I struggle with boyfriend jeans because they can be a bit too loose fitting, but I loved that these still had such a great fit! I paired them with this distressed Joe’s Jeans sweater that is the cosiest thing in my closet right now!
