I guess metallic is having a bit of a moment here on TSS. With my guide to all things glitter and the best ways to wear this never dying trend (I mean.. it’s kind of a given that every year, a winter trend is going to be sequins or metallic right?) I couldn’t help but also sharing how I style metallic in the day. Our usual instinct when we see something shiny is to hang it up with our party dresses and tuxedo jackets because where else would you wear it…right? *hit the buzzer* Wrong! Metallic in the day is as wearable as your favourite sweater, especially when you layer it with some other pieces and tone it down with some day time accessories. If you mix it up with some neutral colours like black or white, you’ll stand out just the perfect amount.
I loved that this Topshop metallic knit was sleeveless, which makes it super easy to layer over another sweater to make it casual for the day! Plus, I love the double turtleneck – not only does it keep me warm, but it also looks pretty cool!
This top is also a great one to take from day to night – I actually wore this exact same outfit, minus the white turtleneck, for a friends birthday party at night and it was a total hit! I love when an outfit can really carry you from day to night and sometimes, simple really is best!
In other news, you can read all about what I’ve been up to and what my favourite new products are in my Monday Update! I’m currently attempting to pack for a really big trip I have coming up but I always find it can be an overwhelming process for a lot of people. That’s why I’m thinking of sharing some of my packing tips that I’ve learnt over the years! Is that something you guys would want to read about?

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of up and coming brands. I love to find pieces from new designers who are timeless but unique. To me, luxury is all about feeling good in what you wear, but it’s also about the feel of fabrics on your skin, textures and all round quality. For Troy London, quality is of the utmost important. That, and this feeling of effortlessness and ease, where you can just pick up one of their pieces, throw it on and just feel great because you know it looks great too. After all, a wardrobe full of effortlessly classic pieces that last season after season is key.
What I really love about all these pieces is that although there is a sense of “countryside” to them, the designs and detailing are so contemporary, which means you could wear all these pieces, literally anywhere. For me, the Jodhpur pants are the embodiment of exactly that – although the style may make me want to grab some boots and go ride a horse, at the same time, the leather detailing on the side and on the seams makes these pants a great option for any other plans I might have (Don’t worry, I will be stopping by the stable to for a ride on Buttercup.. what I always imagined my pony would be named…)

When I slipped on this grey sweater, which I opted for in a size up, I literally never wanted to get out of it. I wanted to eat, sleep, drink, party, and just live in this sweater. I had suddenly found the solution to one of the most irritating problems of winter. You know when you pick up a sweater, it’s super cute, you love it, you wear it and then suddenly it just itches every party of your body cause the fabric is just.. itchy, causing everyone around you to think that you’ve broken out into some.. strange rash or are carrying a nest of ticks around with you? Well, this sweater is the exact opposite of that – this sweater is soft, warm and cuddly but most importantly it looks effortless and matches with anything. This gorgeous green cape as well is one of the most versatile pieces of the collection. Troy London focus on outerwear for women, and this cape is the perfect colour for pretty much any outfit (haven’t you heard, khaki is the new neutral) and the fit and style makes it great for day and night! Not to mention, it’s really warm.
Even after all that, my most favourite thing has to be the fur cuffs. You’ve seen them on my Instagram and you’re seeing them here – these are detachable fur cuffs. Yes. You read that correctly my friend – These fur cuffs (which also come in black) can be attached to anything so suddenly any sweater.. or pair of pants.. or boots.. or however creative you wanna get, can have that extra touch of oomph. I’ve been sticking them on to everything recently and trust me, if you do the same, watch the compliments roll in!

Monday, or rather mondaze… It’s by far the hardest day of the week to get yourself up and going but it’s also the best time to set new goals and start fresh! So, as a part of my newest series, I’ll be sharing a little bit of fun every Monday with you in the form of my Monday update!

Last week I actually had a lot of great things planned. I got to attend the Chloe Digital party for their official expansion into the UK, as well as their second birthday! I’ve had the pleasure to work with them for the last month and I have loved every minute of it so it was amazing to meet everyone in person! A lot of you shared your love for this top that I was wearing which is from Maje! You can get a similar one here and a similar jumpsuit version here. My case is from Uprosa (makes a great gift – it’s under £20!) which you can also get here. I also went ice skating at the Natural History Museum over the weekend, for the first time in.. almost 8 years! I only fell once but managed to get the hang of it after a while! I think it’s one of my favourite things to do now.. plus it’s a great work out.
Speaking of work outs, I got to share my favourite gym essentials with you as well as tips for making it to the gym when it’s freezing outside! Read about it here if you missed it! I also shared one of my favourite looks with you here, and a fabulous gift guide for the techie in your life here!
I’ve got a bit of packing to do this week as I have my Christmas trip coming up super soon! Any guesses where I’m off too? I’ve also got a fabulous event with Dash_ coming up and I can’t wait to see what that’s going to involve! I recently had a chance to see their clothes and I love them already! I’m also doing a Secret Santa with my favourite girls so I cannot wait to give my present!
This week, I am totally obsessed with my Gisou heat protector spray. It smells amazing and I really see the difference in my hair when I use it – it’s not as dry and it feels so soft no matter how many times I curl/blow dry! I am also loving my new Kapten & Sons watch – It’s a great one to have for everyday and it even matches with everything! Last but not least, my new jeans from Sun in Bergen have a layer of fleece on the inside (Yes, you read that right..) which keeps me super duper warm and I can wear my skinny jeans too! It’s a win win.

On my wishlist this week is this super beautiful silk Anya Hindmarch make up pouch, this adorable tassel bracelet from Pieces of Mine (a really adorable jewellery store to check out) and these lace trimmed pants from Michael by Michael Kors.

I’ve never been one to mix two pieces together if I wasn’t 100% sure that they went together pretty well but something about the less obvious pairing, which at first, may seem strange, but something inside you just knows it’s right, has grown on me. Sometimes the most unlikely pieces make the perfect pair; much like this sweater and skirt. I actually bought this sweater and skirt on the same day, and had them on in the trial room at the same time. I had no intention of wearing them together but for the sake of time I tried them on together. When I glanced in the mirror and saw the look together, something inside me clicked – it was like a real life outfit straight from the set of Clueless, but it was quite clued in.
We are all familiar with the infamous tiger Kenzo sweatshirt, something which when I was just dabbling in blogging was my favourite thing to wear. Since them, Kenzo has made a splash on the scene with their H&M collaboration, boasting bright colours and funky patterns but when I saw this more sober sweater, I just knew it was perfect for me. In regard to plaid, you know me, I love a good plaid skirt. The material of this Acne skirt is perfect for keeping you warm this December, and the zip up detail going down the front made it more than just your every day piece of plaid. The colours seem like an unexpected combination, but if you really look at it, they are colours that would all work together on any other occasion, so why not this one?

It’s totally nuts that it is already the first day of December – I swear it was January just yesterday? For me, it’s a time for reflection. To reflect on what I was happy with this year, what went well for TSS, and what could be improved. Shoot me a message if there’s something specific you would like to read about in 2017 – I love reading your messages! I’ve got a very exciting event coming up tonight as well which I will be sharing live with you on my Snapchat! Don’t forget to add me there: The Silk Sneaker!

The word gym is like a dirty word when it’s freezing cold, windy, and dark outside. The winter isn’t exactly ‘gymming season’ I mean why would you sweat it out when you could be happily snuggled underneath a hundred blankets with a hot chocolate (with a dash of Baileys? Pick your poison). For a long time I was that person who would rather sit than sweat it out, but don’t let the winter get in the way of you and being fit. Just like any other obstacle, the cold is one that you can overcome! I’ve got the perfect tips, and the gym essentials to keep you working out this winter and feeling great. After all there is nothing that can quite replace that feeling of working out and feeling amazing about it after.
How many times have you said one of the following: “It’s too cold” or “I’m too tired”? Well, if it’s too cold, put on something warmer (scroll down for the best gym wear and essentials for the season), Too tired? Have a cup of coffee and get your sneakers on. No matter the excuse there is always a solution so remind yourself that there is a way forward no matter the excuse, and that is to get into your work out clothes and power through. Plus you’re going to feel so good after that you’re going to forget about all those excuses anyway! The first step is to get rid of the excuses – don’t let your mind get the better of your body!

Why are you working out? Is it because you want to stay in shape, you want to feel good about your body, maybe you have a special occasion coming up? Whatever it is, visualise your goal and visualise the way you want your body to look and feel. Use this as your motivation to keep going! Even in the hardest of moments, just keep thinking about what you want to achieve and how you want to feel and it will carry you right through. You have to work hard to get where you want to, but when you get there it’s going to feel amazing so keep going!

I have spoken to too many girls who run for the sake of running, not because they enjoy it. In fact a lot of them hate it. I was one of those girls – I am not really someone who enjoys running (Unless there’s a football or something in front of me, I played varsity football- or soccer, whatever you want to call it.. I still don’t like to run for fun though). I tried to run and make that a part of my exercise regiment and I landed up hating it – it felt like such a chore. Instead of doing what you think everyone else is doing, do what makes you happy! Love to dance? Join a dance class! Are you really into spinning? Make that a part of your routine! Maybe you just want to tone? Try doing a HITT work out at home or some pilates! Essentially, by identifying the type of work out that makes you happy you’re more likely to enjoy it, and actually want to do it!

When I stepped out of my apartment this morning, I was hit with a very icy blast indeed. It seems that London is just about to get the leftovers of an Arctic freeze, coming our way in full swing with high winds and negative temperatures. I think that means it’s going to be very brrrr indeed. I find that when the weather can go from being manageable to so unforgiving in a matter of seconds (or days or hours.. or minutes. it’s just too unpredictable!) I like to stay as comfortable as possible, but I am also not one to abandon style in my pursuit of comfort.
There is nothing as comfortable as a soft, slightly oversized, turtleneck sweater. The way it hugs you in all the right places and makes sure you stay warm on the top half, no wonder they are an all round winter favourite. I paired my favourite Sandro sweater (a similar one here, and a more affordable one which is also on sale here) with a pair of sporty yet sophisticated pants. What I love about these side striped pants is that they are roomy and comfortable, but the cut and the fall still makes them incredibly stylish. The stripes on the side add that touch of femme leisure while elongating your figure. These are from Zara, but I found a super similar pair here. I added the belt in to add some definition to my silhouette and to balance the two baggy pairings. Plus a waist belt always adds a touch of class!

I recently took a very short and sweet digital detox this weekend (You would have noticed, I was just a little bit quiet on Instagram!) Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath, stop and understand what’s going on around you, what your goals are, and how far away from achieving them you are and what you need to do to get there. Although you feel the effects of stepping away from the Instagram community quite quickly, whether it’s in terms of engagement or just how hard it can be on Monday morning to get back into it, I’ve come back feeling a little bit more refreshed and with a new sense of excitement for everything I want to achieve for you guys in the rest of 2016 and in the new year too!
I have to say though, when I said I’m back, I really am back. I finally got on the Snapchat game and thought I would give that a try! You can add me now on: The Silk Sneaker. C’mon, you know you want to see how weird I really am!
