Monday Ready!

Happy Monday to my lovely readers! I hope you guys have had a wonderful morning so far! I’ve started my day right with a yummy breakfast and some fresh peonies in the apartment! This week is a rainy one but I have two amazing shoots coming up that I cannot wait to share more with you about! Stay tuned for that !

I got to attend the beautiful opening of the new Astrid and Miyu store! I love their dainty jewellery, and all of it is really affordable! Right now I have my eyes on these cute little studs where one side is an initial and the other is a plain stud! How adorable right?

How to Wear Pastels This Spring/Summer

Pastels and Colours are the way forward…

With the sun finally starting to shine down on us, there is no better time to start adding pastels to your wardrobe. One of my favourite pieces, even for a petite girl like me, is the maxi skirt. Creating maxi skirt outfits for summer is one of my favourite parts of the season. When I found a maxi skirt that was a pastel skirt too, I knew I had to have it! I love how the different colours come together in this skirt, making it the perfect statement piece for your spring/summer wardrobe! What I also love about this skirt is the material. Because it’s a very lightweight knit (and I mean very light weight, I did buy it in Bombay after all!) the skirt is perfect for a day in the city. At the same time, the length and fit of it give it that romantic summer vibe! After all, I constantly find myself dreaming of the Amalfi coast! The colours of the skirt also paired so perfectly with my denim jacket, which is my current favourite denim piece right now! It was an effortless combination if I do say so myself! Makeup Bag Must Haves: The Key To Soft Lips this Summer

The Best Summer Lip Balm

As I get busier and busier, I’m always looking for new beauty products that are multi-purpose. I don’t know a single girl who doesn’t always want soft lips so the best lip balm is a must. At the same time, we are always on the hunt for a lipstick that lasts all day. A little while ago I got a product that managed to tackle both beauty issues in one go! My Dior Lip Glow is one product that is always in my purse and is this month’s Makeup Bag Must Have! The Dior Lip Glow is a hydrating balm for your lips that ensures soft lips all day long. On top of that, it comes in a few different shades that are all tinted. The key to the tint is that it brings out the natural colour in your lip. This way, the shade is enhanced for everyone! What I love is that the colour lasts on my lips all day, but it looks incredibly natural! As if that wasn’t enough, it works as a great lip primer as well. Apply the Dior Lip Glow before you apply your daily lipstick, and you’ll see that your lipstick lasts all day! Now, how’s that for multi-purpose beauty?

3 Stylish Ways To Wear Gingham Now: Part Two

There’s no beating a classic Gingham look…

We all know that a key fashion trend for spring summer 2017 is gingham. That’s why I created this series on three ways to wear summer’s favourite pattern! In part one, we tackled the gingham pants. Today, in part two, I’m all about the gingham skirt and adding colour to your street style outfit. Classically, gingham is blue and white and we tend to match it with similar colours. For today’s look, I wanted to add some bold contrasts with colour. I loved creating an all blue base with my blue oversized sweater (it’s a sweater I stole from his closet!) and my blue skirt. To create the colour contrast I added this red leather jacket from Deme by Gabriella. It’s a current favourite of mine because of the colour! One of my favourite parts about this particular gingham skirt is the ruffle on it! The ruffle adds femininity and elegance, so pairing it with an edgy jacket and sneakers creates the perfect balance. Plus, with ruffles being another trend for spring/summer, this skirt is a two in one! I hope you guys like this second look and I can’t wait to share part three of the series with you!

Monday Ready!

Happy Monday Everyone! I am feeling particularly inspired this week because I spent my Saturday at the Career Girl Academy run by the boss babes at Career Girl Daily! It was such an amazing day full of so much inspiration from all the speakers who came in! I learnt SO much about blogging and I cannot wait to put all my new ideas into action! If you guys are interested, you can actually still buy digital tickets and they will be streaming the whole day for you to watch from home! It’s definitely worth it – I learnt so much from all the amazing talks! (Plus then you can hear me ask my questions too haha!)

How To Rock that Statement Feminist T Shirt

The Feminist T-Shirt.

We’ve seen them down the runway at Dior. We’ve seen them on the rails at Topshop. We’ve seen our favourite influencers rock them around the world. The statement feminist t-shirt is here and it’s here to stay. One of the most notable moments of NYFW was when Prabal Gurung had an army of models in statement t-shirts walk the runway. The slogans were all about equality and empowerment. Following the show, some of my favourite influencers like Aimee Song, Irene Kim and Chriselle Lim took to the streets in these same t-shirts. So, when I saw the Prabal Gurung t-shirts hanging in Selfridges, I couldn’t resist but snap one up. As an influencer, I find that it’s expected you share some sort of political view point. By not doing so, you risk the label ‘slacktivist’. I don’t usually address political issues on The Silk Sneaker, but I felt like today’s outfit gave me the opportunity to briefly share my views. Being a feminist, to me, is about more than just a statement feminist t-shirt. To me, feminism is about equality, not just for women, but for everyone. I do not think that feminism is about the rise of female over male, but rather about equal treatment in every situation regardless of your sex or gender. (Note how I use the words both gender and sex, but that’s a whole different discussion point) I have had the honour of being able to grow up surrounded by strong women. This includes my mother and her close knit of friends who I still look up to today, the amazing girlfriends who are now my sisters, and the group of influencers I get to know on my journey here on The Silk Sneaker. Women are strong and we are fearless, so of course, I really do believe that we should all be feminists.

3 Gorgeous Shoes You Need For Spring

A girl can never have too many shoes…

With each new season, the one thing I am always looking forward to buying are shoes. The shoe trends for spring/summer 2017 were a set of styles that I personally adore but from all the trends there were three pairs of spring shoes that I think we all need in our wardrobe. After all, a good pair of shoes can change your whole outfit. Spring outfits tend to get lighter as the weather gets warmer, so a pair of shoes is a great way to make a statement through your look. The kitten heel was formerly thought to be reserved for the elderly but it’s made a huge come back through the likes of Chanel and Dior. My favourite kitten heels for the spring are the sling back variety. I love how snuggly they fit and the small heel make them easy to wear all day! Spring everyday heels? Check!

Another shoe trend for 2017 are the lace ups! We’ve seen them on the runway, and on the street style scene. I love how beautiful and feminine this style is, and it adds the perfect amount of detail to an every day look or that something special for a night out! So there you have it! The perfect shoes for spring 2017! A good pair of shoes is also an investment, so even though all these shoes are in trend for spring, I also love that they are timeless. You could wear them well beyond spring and they would always look fabulous!

How To Wear the Biggest Handbag Trend of 2017: Basket Bags

Basket Bags, the biggest 2017 handbag trend…

Basket bags are no longer just for your days on the beach. Anything but slow and steady, the basket bag trend is taking over 2017 and our closets along the way! With countless of options, including basket bags with tassels, basket bags with slogans (Like mine!) or basket bags with pom poms (Like the one I wear here), there is a basket bag for everyone. The trick to wearing a basket bag on the daily is to embrace the contrast. My jumpsuit and kitten heels are the perfect look for a day in the city, but my straw bag transforms the whole outfit. I love that it can add a touch of summer to any outfit! It works with jeans and a tee shirt, or a summer dress even. No matter what you wear, summer comes with your new best friend; the basket bag! I chose this straw bag for this spring outfit because I loved how the blue and red on the bag matched with my jumpsuit. The slogan caught my eye immediately as well because, admittedly, I do love all things Italy! I hope everyone is having a lovely start to the week post bank holiday weekend.
