Okay, so it’s my birthday tomorrow! I hope you enjoy all the things I’m currently crushing on! Maybe they’ll go on your birthday list too (or just straight into your shopping bag, that’s more like it hehe!)

Got my eye on these earrings for the summer! Resin is one of those trends I just can’t get over – how gorgeous are these from Cult favourite Cult Gaia (I mean they even have cult in their name!)

If you want some other options for resin earrings though, here are some great pairs:

I ordered this bag because I love that I’m able to have a bit of this plastic PVC trend without totally breaking the bank! It ships out right after my birthday but it still makes my birthday list because it’s that cute!

3 Tips For Attending An Indian Wedding

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her three tips for attending an Indian wedding

Indian Weddings Are Magical…

Having been born and brought up in India, I’ve attended my fair share of Indian weddings. In fact, just last week I attended another one! Indian weddings are nothing short of special; the colours, the dancing, the celebrations and of course the gorgeous outfits. With so many different rituals and events, they usually last a couple of days, but trust me, they are so much fun! A lot of you have been asking me what it’s like to go to an Indian wedding and although I covered some of it in my post yesterday, I have three tips that will ensure you are super prepared for when you attend an Indian wedding!

There was about a half an hour wait in 40 degree heat for my outfit to be steamed and my make up still remained in place thanks to my essentials!

1. Prepare Your Makeup For The Heat

If you’re attending an Indian wedding in India, prepare yourself for some heat! I always find that even if the event is taking place indoors, there is so much dancing and celebration, that you land up sweating anyways! Especially because Indian traditional outfits are quite heavy. There are a few makeup products that are perfect for long wear and for making your makeup last longer! These are the ones I swear by:

Dior Star Foundation: Lasts all night long, and probably the next morning too! The coverage is fabulous and I never leave for a trip without it!

YSL Mascara: The YSL mascara is waterproof and in my opinion sweat proof too! It lasts for ages and doesn’t drip at all. The perfect way to get those glam long lashes too without having to opt for fake ones!

Clarins Fix Make-Up Spray: I can’t stress the importance of this one enough. It’s the final step in my routine and I spray it on right before I walk out the door. It keeps my make up in place for hours and makes sure that everything looks as perfect as the moment I put it on! Plus, it gives your face this beautiful glow and doesn’t let your make up look powdery!

2. Bring Flats

I always start the night in heels but with all the dancing and running around, I always end the night in flats! So come prepared with a pair of comfortable flats to keep you going all night long!

Ive linked to some super stylish flats that are equally comfortable as they are glam below:

My outfit was actually ivory and pastel pink. The pops of pink added the colour it needed!

3. Avoid Wearing White

It’s rare that we wear white to weddings. Usually, Indian weddings are a celebration of many colours, so opt for bright or pastel shades rather than white’s or black! One of my outfits has an ivory bottom, but a pink top, so I always have a splash of colour somehow!

Here are some perfect accessories for that splash of colour:

My India Travel Diary: New Delhi & Jodhpur

Surprise! I was in India for most of last week, attending a very special wedding! We were attending from the bride’s side, who was marrying into one of the royal families of Jodhpur so this was nothing short of special! Although I didn’t post about it on Instagram while I was there (see my stories, or this post for why!) I still documented my entire trip, including everything I wore to this Indian wedding, to share with you guys here! In my travel diary, I’m sharing with you what to wear in India, what to see if you’re ever in Jodhpur, and just the highlights and special moments from my trip! Although I’m totally shattered after this super short trip back, I’m already excited for my next adventure (hint hint, it’s my birthday on Saturday!) but, one thing at a time right? So here’s all the amazing moments from my India travel diary!

Fashion and Travel blogger Shloka Narang shares her India Travel Diary including her tips for New Delhi and Jodhpur and what to wear in India

Our first two nights were celebrated in New Delhi. Although I was battling jet lag, the two events were both so magical and so much fun that I had the best time! On the first evening I wore one of my favourite outfits from Monisha Jaising. If you’ve followed my blog for a while you’ll see that I’ve worn this outfit to almost every wedding I’ve attended for at least one of the events!

On the second day, I opted for an outfit that is not as traditional but is equally beautiful! The style I’m wearing in both images is called a lehnga; a crop top and long skirt. Usually, with lots of embroidery on it! I opted for a heavily embroidered top with a totally plain bottom. I loved the effect of the contrast! I wore this to the actual wedding ceremony!

If you watch my highlights on my stories, you’ll know that A. I love to cook and B. I love to eat! One of the things I miss the most about India is the amazing food, so I was so excited to eat all my favourites! If you’re ever in India, there are a few things you just have to try, my favourites include Idli (what I was eating in my stories, with a face of pure joy), dosa, appam, butter chicken & chaat. This is just the start of my list hah!

A day later, we were off to Jodhpur! Although I lived in India for 18 years, I never visited Jodhpur so i was incredibly excited. We were invited to stay in one of the palaces, that has now been converted into a hotel; Ajit Bhavan. It was breath taking and if you’re visiting, I would highly recommend it! Just look at the view from my room!

For this evening event, we visited another neighbouring royal location which had the most fabulous collection of vintage cars! The bride herself drove in in one from the 1940’s! (How amazing is that??). It was nothing short of magical!

For this event, I wore an outfit from Indian designer Manish Mahlotra. It’s a jumpsuit on the inside with the most stunning kimono style jacket over. It has a belt that goes over it as well. For the after party, I just took this off and partied in my jumpsuit! The perfect outfit for any Indian wedding!

Stay tuned, there will be many more photos going up on my Instagram this week!

On our final day in Jodhpur, we woke up a little earlier to go see one of the most famous forts. The property is still being restored however each room was more breath taking than the next. We saw a room made completely of mirrors, one made with gold ceilings. We saw the most fabulous jewels, antique pieces, and so much more, each with a new story to tell!

Plus, the view from the very top of the fort of all the blue houses of Jodhpur was stunning. Jodhpur is known as the blue city as most of the roofs are blue! It really is worth visiting if you are in India!

I was wearing a blouse from Ba&sh along with a Maje skirt. Although both these pieces are old, I’ve linked to similar ones here:

I was also wearing these shoes from Malone Soulier! Super comfortable for everything!

What To Wear To Your Next Christmas Party: The Perfect Holiday Outfit

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang shares a stunning Christmas party outfit idea featuring ba&sh and dior

Tis The Season…

As our calendars start to fill with holiday parties, it’s time to get out our favourite dancing shoes and our prettiest dresses and skirts. I know that I sometimes struggle with party outfit ideas, especially when the occasions are so frequent! This year though, I found my favourite party outfit to date. The key to the perfect party outfit is always having that one piece that’s more interesting than the rest. In this case, though, I found three pieces that are statements in their own right but are a match made in fashion heaven when combined. I think it’s important to remember, especially for a good party outfit, that when combining many statement pieces, make sure you keep your colour palette as sober as possible. I opted in for a total classic, an all-black look.

Ba&sh is one of my favourite brands (I promise this is not sponsored, I’m just obsessed) and this year I snagged the most beautiful sweater ba&sh sweater. The low back with the crystal details makes it a perfect option for any holiday celebration. Since I was going for covered knitwear on top, I wanted to have some fun and go with something sheer on the bottom. I picked up this sheer panelled skirt while I was in India but I’ve found some similar options, like this one here and this super elegant one here (Both are super affordable too!) I love how balanced the look is, not showing too much or too little!

If there is any time for more is more, the holidays are it. Don’t shy away from accessories for your holiday party outfits! I pulled out my favourite Sophia Webster heels. I love the fun geometric pattern. They are so easy to wear because of the colours! I grabbed my favourite Dior bag and I was ready to go – holiday party ready! Would you wear this look? What are you wearing to your holiday parties?

What to Wear When You Have Nothing To Wear this Autumn

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker creates the perfect fall outfit idea for what to wear when you have nothing to wear

Happy First Week of Spring!

How many times have you stared into your closet, which is full of clothes, and thought “I have nothing to wear..” It’s more than likely that you need to be out the door in 5 minutes or less and you are totally blanking on a good outfit idea. For moments like these, I have the perfect outfit formula that is sure to provide some style inspiration, as well as help you create that perfect look when you feel like you have nothing to wear! Not only that, it’s the perfect look to fall back upon when you’re wondering what to wear and you’re in a rush. A stylish look that’s simple and I guarantee you will all be able to recreate the look and get multiple compliments on it! Since a lot of us feel like this on a regular, I’ve decided to make this a little series that I revisit. For the first installment, we are looking at what to wear when you have nothing to wear, in the fall.

The outfit formula is simple; Turtleneck + Patterned Skirt (Plaid/Houndstooth/Heritage Printed) + Boots + Accessory.

How easy is that? I grabbed a white turtleneck that is a little chunkier in its fit. I love the feel of a slightly oversized sweater. I paired it with a black and white plaid skirt. You literally can never go wrong with monochrome! To finish the look I grabbed my comfiest boots from Seven Boot Lane. I love that they have a slightly blue tint, so I accessorized with one of my favorite hats of the moment; the baker boy hat. Add a bag and I was ready to go!

Believe it or not, I really did pull this look together in under 5 minutes and I’ve actually worn it on repeat! It has never failed me and it will never fail you! Although I went for black and white, don’t be afraid to play around with some colors! Fall tones like mustard, terracotta, deep red and navy blue all can add that little bit extra to your look!

Lumas Art Now

In a dark classroom, filled with wooden desks and dim laptop screens, I found myself slowly dozing off to slides of Monet. My Art History class was a compulsory module in order to take my Film Studies class at Columbia NYC that summer; but at the mere age of 16 I had a massive lack of appreciation for art; I regretfully admit that I was more interested in the gift store at the MoMa. Rest assured, much has changed over the last five years and through some sort of midnight epiphany, I found a love for art when I did a hop, skip and jump over to London. Imagine my glee when I got to attend the Lumas: Art Now launch last week. (Beyond belief in case you haven’t caught on)

I don’t think art is something you stare at blankly on a prescribed marking on the floor and attempt to reach some sort of internal enigma. Rather art is relatable, or rather it should be. At the risk of preaching a Theory of Knowledge syllabus at you (holla at my fellow IB’ers) art is a matter of perception; a personal matter. What makes it worth hanging up on your wall or gawking over at Frieze or ignoring completely, I don’t know, but all the same, it’s thought provoking. To even have this discussion, art should be accessible, which was the goal of the Lumas: Art Now launch – Limited editions print in small sizes available for your gifting/consuming pleasure.
