When I was in school, the number one reason why I was late was that I couldn’t decide what to wear. Fast forward to university, and that problem continued on. Over time I finally figured out a system that worked well for me and helped me to get ready faster in the morning, while still being happy with the outfit I was in when I walked out the door. So, I know that a lot of you have had the same moment as me when you open your closet in the morning and pretty much hate everything you’re looking at, right? To avoid that mini-meltdown, and save you enough time in the morning, I have three special tips to help you get ready faster. (Also, can we not miss the headband? I am in love with this Prada headband and I feel like it’s relevant because I’ve been rocking a headband since I was 4)

Think About Your Outfit in Advance
Okay, I know this is the most obvious tip of all time and I know that a lot of you don’t like to take your outfit out the night before simply because you’re tired, you don’t have the time, or you want to see how you feel the next day. I don’t think you should be as OCD as me (I think about my outfits a week in advance when I know I have lots of events…) but it does help to have an idea of what you’re going to wear. Think about a look you’d like to put together the night before so that when you wake up in the morning, you know what you’re looking for.

Find Accessories To Fall Back On
What lands up happening is that you sometimes feel like your outfit is too “bland” and you’re tempted to start again. Resist this urge! Instead, organise your accessories so you know which ones work to spice up your outfit. In my outfit, I added in the high socks and the headband to make an otherwise simple spring outfit, look that much more chic.

Know Where To Look
If you think that you have to compromise on style to get ready fast in the morning, I’m here to assure you that you can have your cake and eat it too. Sometimes the best way to figure out what to wear is to look at your inspirations! Check out my Instagram page for all my outfits and what I wear every day, or even have a browse on Pinterest for what others have put together. You’ll probably find an idea in a matter of minutes!

One of my most frequently asked questions is how to take care of designer bags properly. You’ve splurged on your dream bag but how do you maintain it when you aren’t wearing it! Luckily I have some experience in this area and after gathering a lot of tips from the women around me I’ve learnt that there are three practices that are necessary for properly taking care of your luxury handbags. I’ve shared these three tips with you below so scroll down to learn how I make sure all my bags remain looking as beautiful as the day I got them!

I know a lot of you also wonder how to store them. I’ve covered that in the tips below along with some special tips for storing your bags when you don’t have a lot of living space!

Luxury fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her 3 top tips for taking care of your designer handbags properly featuring Chanel, Gucci and Louis Vuitton

1. STORE IN COOL DRY PLACES IN CLOTH BAGS.

Always store your designer handbags in the cloth bags they came in. This protects them from dust and any other factors that may ruin the material of the bag. Make sure that your bags are stored in a dry place as moisture can ruin the leather/material of your bag, including the inside of your bag. If you live in Europe, this is much easier to do but if you live in Asia, you’ll know that moisture and humidity can find it’s way into your closet. A trick I learnt from growing up in India is to take those little silica gel bags you get with some purchases and place them inside your bags. This will soak up any moisture in the air!

Some of you are wondering how to store your bags if you have limited storage space (Did someone say London apartment problem? I feel you). There are a few options that you can explore. You can either get these clear drawers from Muji, which are large enough for you to neatly place your bags in and makes them easy to access. The extra storage is always welcome right? For clutches and smaller bags, you can look to get a soft hanging shelf in your closet. This has soft shelves that you can store more bags in.

Top Tip: Take those little silica gel bags you get with some purchases and place them inside your bags. This will soak up any moisture in the air!

2. STUFF THEM

To make sure your bags maintain their shape, be sure to stuff them. You can either stuff them with fabrics like your scarves or with acid-free tissue paper. Usually, when you get a new bag, they come with stuffing already and I tend to keep this stuffing going in all my bags. You can also purchase bag inserts that will help to keep the shape of your bag but I prefer the previous options as they are just easier.  It’s very hard for a bag to regain it’s shape, trust me that’s a lesson I’ve learnt the hard way, so make sure you stuff them properly!

3. CLEAN THEM REGULARLY

Like anything, your bags need some TLC. Some designer bags come with a buffing cloth that you can use to buff and clean the leather. You can use this for all your bags. You can also get a special scotch guard for your cloth/suede bags to make sure they do not stain. It always helps to maintain the material of your bags by giving them a good wipe and clean every few months.

My India Travel Diary: New Delhi & Jodhpur

Surprise! I was in India for most of last week, attending a very special wedding! We were attending from the bride’s side, who was marrying into one of the royal families of Jodhpur so this was nothing short of special! Although I didn’t post about it on Instagram while I was there (see my stories, or this post for why!) I still documented my entire trip, including everything I wore to this Indian wedding, to share with you guys here! In my travel diary, I’m sharing with you what to wear in India, what to see if you’re ever in Jodhpur, and just the highlights and special moments from my trip! Although I’m totally shattered after this super short trip back, I’m already excited for my next adventure (hint hint, it’s my birthday on Saturday!) but, one thing at a time right? So here’s all the amazing moments from my India travel diary!

Fashion and Travel blogger Shloka Narang shares her India Travel Diary including her tips for New Delhi and Jodhpur and what to wear in India

Our first two nights were celebrated in New Delhi. Although I was battling jet lag, the two events were both so magical and so much fun that I had the best time! On the first evening I wore one of my favourite outfits from Monisha Jaising. If you’ve followed my blog for a while you’ll see that I’ve worn this outfit to almost every wedding I’ve attended for at least one of the events!

On the second day, I opted for an outfit that is not as traditional but is equally beautiful! The style I’m wearing in both images is called a lehnga; a crop top and long skirt. Usually, with lots of embroidery on it! I opted for a heavily embroidered top with a totally plain bottom. I loved the effect of the contrast! I wore this to the actual wedding ceremony!

If you watch my highlights on my stories, you’ll know that A. I love to cook and B. I love to eat! One of the things I miss the most about India is the amazing food, so I was so excited to eat all my favourites! If you’re ever in India, there are a few things you just have to try, my favourites include Idli (what I was eating in my stories, with a face of pure joy), dosa, appam, butter chicken & chaat. This is just the start of my list hah!

Bag: The Line A.K

A day later, we were off to Jodhpur! Although I lived in India for 18 years, I never visited Jodhpur so i was incredibly excited. We were invited to stay in one of the palaces, that has now been converted into a hotel; Ajit Bhavan. It was breath taking and if you’re visiting, I would highly recommend it! Just look at the view from my room!

For this evening event, we visited another neighbouring royal location which had the most fabulous collection of vintage cars! The bride herself drove in in one from the 1940’s! (How amazing is that??). It was nothing short of magical!

For this event, I wore an outfit from Indian designer Manish Mahlotra. It’s a jumpsuit on the inside with the most stunning kimono style jacket over. It has a belt that goes over it as well. For the after party, I just took this off and partied in my jumpsuit! The perfect outfit for any Indian wedding!

Stay tuned, there will be many more photos going up on my Instagram this week!

On our final day in Jodhpur, we woke up a little earlier to go see one of the most famous forts. The property is still being restored however each room was more breath taking than the next. We saw a room made completely of mirrors, one made with gold ceilings. We saw the most fabulous jewels, antique pieces, and so much more, each with a new story to tell!

Plus, the view from the very top of the fort of all the blue houses of Jodhpur was stunning. Jodhpur is known as the blue city as most of the roofs are blue! It really is worth visiting if you are in India!

I was wearing a blouse from Ba&sh along with a Maje skirt. Although both these pieces are old, I’ve linked to similar ones here:

I was also wearing these shoes from Malone Soulier! Super comfortable for everything!

How To Wear Oversized Pieces When You’re Petite

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares another great spring outfit idea, showcasing how petite girls can style oversized pieces with Topshop, Chanel and Valentino.

A Few Tips For Petite Girls…

A lot of you have reached out to me, expressing how much you wish you could recreate a look, like my spring outfit ideas, but you feel you are too petite for it. What shocks you, even more, is when you learn that I’m actually incredibly petite myself! My love for fashion and sharing through my blog has given me the confidence to be fearless with my style and never let my height hold me back, but of course, that wasn’t always the case! Through the years I’ve learned some tips and tricks for creating the perfect petite outfits. So if you’re a petite girl like me and you wish you could rock that oversized coat in an outfit, guess what? You can! Today I’m sharing my latest spring outfit inspiration, along with some special tips for how you can create some stylish petite outfits for spring without being afraid of your oversized pieces!

1. Add definition
I love this oversized duster coat however when I wear it on it’s own I tend to get lost. The best way to make sure you don’t look smaller in your outfits is to add definition. I’ve done that here with a waist belt, which helps highlight my silhouette! PS: Do you recognise this duster from my London Fashion Week Diary?

2. Add some height
Since petite girls aren’t the tallest, a lot of those amazing robes, kimonos and dusters can be a bit too long for us! That’s why I find that the best way to pull them off is to add a bit of height. I’m wearing one of my favourite heels from Valentino! I loved how the different shades of greens worked so well together!

3. Show some skin
Since I paired this long sleeve duster with trousers, I decided to wear it slightly off the shoulder so that you could get a glimpse of my shoulders. By showing some skin when you are petite, it stops your outfit from becoming too overpowering for your figure! It’s a great way to look taller and more defined!

What are your tips for petite girls? Are you petite like me?

5 Tricks To Wearing Your Heels All Day & Surviving Them

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her tips for how to walk in high heels and how to make heels more comfortable

How To Walk In High Heels, Without The Pain…

For those of you who didn’t know, I’m actually very petite. I’m just about 5’1 (It’s actually 5ft and 3/4 inches but trust me, those 3/4 really count!) which means that a lot of my outfits involve me wearing heels! Don’t get me wrong, I love shoes. One of my favourite books as a kid was called How to Walk In High Heels, and my love for shoes is one of my weaknesses for sure. I love sharing my favourite pieces in my collection with you all (You can read all about how to build an amazing shoe collection here!). However, it can be very difficult to make high heels more comfortable especially when you are running around in them all day. Through the years, I have created my own high heel survival guide, full of tips on how to make high heels more comfortable, how to make high heels hurt less and tips for wearing heels all day and still feeling great! Today, I’m going to share some of these with you!

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her tips for how to walk in high heels and how to make heels more comfortable

These boots are so fabulous but they needed to be stretched slightly before I wore them. Now whenever I wear them I can last all day and night!

Break In Your Heels The Right Way

I know just as much as the next girl how exciting a new pair of heels or shoes can be. You want to wear them right away right? Before you take them out on the town though, you need to break in your heels the right way and stretch them out a little bit. The best way to do this is to put on a pair of very thick socks (maybe a two/three pairs to really get that thickness!) and then warm them up with a hairdryer. Stick your super warm feet into your new shoes and walk around your home in them for about 15 minutes. The heat will help the shoes stretch out and become less stiff. Repeat as necessary! This makes all the difference in making your heels more comfortable!

Look For Heels With Support

Heels with a strap around the ankle, a thick strap that goes over the front of your foot or with chunky block heels will all provide great support for your feet all day long. These sorts of styles are the best, especially when you know you’re going to be on your feet for a majority of the day! The support helps you walk with less pain in your feet all day long. Think flatforms, platforms, booted heels…

The block heel on these boots makes them so easy to walk around in all day!

I love this style of heel but sometimes I get blisters at the front near my toes so my combed stick saves me!

Reduce Friction With Baby Powder

One of the worst parts is the blisters that come after an entire day in high heels. I myself am incredibly prone to blisters, which make it so difficult to stay standing in even my comfiest heels! The best way to reduce friction in key parts of your feet (heels of your foot, toes etc.) is to sprinkle baby powder on your feet before you slip them into your shoes, especially on the parts that are covered by the heel! Another lifesaver is the Compeed blister stick! Just roll it on to all the parts of your foot that are blister prone or that might have friction with your shoes and it prevents blisters. Plus it’s transparent and fits in your purse!

Whatever You Do, Don’t Take Them Off

You’re out, your heels are killing you and you think you can take them off for just a second. Trust me, don’t do it. Although it feels amazing to take them off, putting them back on is even worse than before! It makes your feet feel so much worse! Also going from the height, straight to flat ground and back to height again is actually very bad for your feet! Try to stretch your feet once you take them out of your heels for the day!

Fashion Blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her tips for how to walk in high heels and how to make heels more comfortable

These are some of my favourite heels! The platform in the front gives me added support which I love!

Another pair of shoes that I am so happy I bought! Not only do they support me in the front but they also provide ankle support!

After Care Is Important

The best way to keep your feet happy is to take care of them even after you’re done with your heels for the day! Soaking your feet in a tub of hot water and Epsom salts is a great way to reduce any swelling, take away pain and help your feet recover from the heels. Regular pedicures also help to keep your feet healthy and reduce any friction or pain that heels can cause!

I hope these tips help you walk in your high heels! Have you tried any of them? Will you be trying any of these tips?

5 Ways To Break Out Of A Creative Rut

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her 5 tips for coming out of a creative rut

The Only Way Is Up!

We’ve all been there. We’re staring at our screens, our blank pages, and the ideas are just not flowing. I’ve been there myself and quite recently too. Staring at my screen, staring at my notebook, staring at my Instagram. You get the idea, it was a lot of staring and not a lot of doing. It took me a little while to admit to myself that I was actually in a creative rut. I just couldn’t get my creative juices flowing and that is so discouraging. I think the first thing to realise when you’re in a creative rut, is that you’re not alone. We all get there at some point or another! I found myself moaning and whining about it so much until I realised, that there is really nowhere to go but up and out! From all my experiences, I’ve noticed that there are five key things that really help me come out of any creative low point. Scroll down to find out!

I realised that the more I pushed myself to come up with an idea, the less I actually came up with! The best thing to do sometimes is to just stop and take a step back from the situation. Think about something else and allow your mind to relax. Without the pressure of having to be creative, you might just find yourself on the path to some of your best ideas! I’ve noticed how pressure can stifle our creative process and in such an overly saturated space, it can be hard to feel as though your ideas are creative enough. If anything, taking a step back and clearing your mind will help you put things into perspective. Remember, you are good enough!

This photo took forever to take! There were about 100 trial and errors before I got it right. I felt so useless but what finally did it in the end was when I just took a break, did something else and came back to it!

I always believe that inspiration is everywhere, we just have to find it. Sometimes when you’re in a creative rut, you just need to look for a bit of change. I always try to find new sources of inspiration that might spark a new idea. Whether it be flipping through a new issue of a magazine, one of my coffee table books or discovering a new Pinterest board, I find that a change of what I’m looking at tends to do the trick. I think something to remember is that you could be looking at travel photography, and it may spark an idea for something completely unrelated; don’t close yourself off to anything! I also find that music can really help my creativity flow!

All my life my father has told me that getting bored is a good thing. I never understood what he truly meant until now. Boredom is something we all need in our lives. If you’re reading this thinking I’ve gone crazy, let me explain. Sometimes what we need to do is allow ourselves to get bored. It’s within that space of boredom that an idea will strike. Our mind is finally and completely at ease and you’ll start to see all the ideas flowing through. I’ve tried this and it works like a charm! It can take a day, or an hour, but I always find that spark in boredom.

My dad and I took this photo on a rainy day. We were both a bit bored and the photo just was a result of us having some fun! The final product on my Instagram was actually a video with sparkles on the bag!

I originally had a different idea for this photo but It wasn’t what I wanted it to be. We walked around in so many different spots and finally came up with this! It wasn’t my favourite but it still did super well

Fresh air and nature can do wonders for our minds. Don’t coop yourself up behind your desk all day. Get outside and take in a different scenery. Appreciate the beauty that is around you and just takes a moment to be present in the moment, away from all the thoughts that were previously clouding your mind. Regardless of whether it’s a walk down your street, in the park or in a forest, a little bit of sunshine and a change of surroundings is sure to spark something when you get back to the grind!

Sometimes what drives us further into our rut is ourselves. It is so easy to be your biggest critic. Take it from me, I think I find something I dislike about my work every other day! Don’t be so hard on yourself and try to cut yourself some slack. It’s totally fine to hold yourself to a standard and to push yourself to exceed expectations. At the same time, it’s important to acknowledge your successes, your progress and what you can and have achieved. Focus in on the positives of the work you have created rather than the negatives. Then channel that positive energy into getting better! It’s so much more constructive than bringing yourself down!

I criticised myself so much about this photo. I thought it was horrible! Instead it got so many likes, comments and even got reposted!
