Happy

For those of you who are in the UK, you would have woken up to a snowy Monday morning! No matter how many times I see snow, I still find as magical as ever! It was such a beautiful way to start the day! I know that the weather forecast has us in for an extremely cold week, but that isn’t stopping me from looking forward to spring! My London Fashion Week Diary [February 2018]

It’s Time For

Another year, another fashion week! London Fashion Week took place this past weekend and the capital was flooded with amazing street style, fabulous runway shows and lots of amazing events. I was so excited because this year I got to attend the most beautiful Bora Aksu show, an amazing event with The Clck and of course today I’m going to share it all with you! If there is anything I’ve learned about fashion week, it’s that it’s a marathon, not a sprint! One day into it and I was already exhausted! I’ve linked to some of my favourite essentials below as well! Although it looks like the most glamorous event, there’s a lot of hard work and planning that goes into it. Even so, it really is all worth it!

BORA AKSU

My day started with my most anticipated event, the Bora Aksu runway show. The designer took his inspiration from a famous Georgian surgeon. She was one of the first women in her field, but had to dress like a man to do her job. The collection highlighted this contrast through it’s use of masculine silhouettes with feminine touches. (Think waist belts, pops of pink and ruffles) as well as it’s beautiful lace and sheer dresses and floral patterns. The whole collection blew me away and there really was no better way to start the day!

The @bora_aksu collection was inspired by a female Georgian surgeon who pretended to be a man to do her job. With a mix of masculine silhouettes, playful colours and feminine lace and ruffles, the collection was gorgeous 💕 • • • #fashion #lfw #londonfashionweek #video #fashionvideo #boraaksu #fblogger #londonblogger #london #luxuryblogger #fashionfilm #love

WHAT I WORE

This fashion week I really did not want to dress for the cameras. I wanted to dress for myself. What is personal style, if not for yourself? I think it is so easy to be overwhelmed by the street style and wanting to be noticed, however at the end of the day, if you aren’t true to yourself there is no point. I think this outfit is really “me”. I found this gorgeous green suede duster from Jovonna London at Topshop a few months ago. Paired with my favourite pattern, plaid of course, and some of my must have accessories, I knew this was going to be a winner! My final touch was my brand new lip colour from Nars. It’s called Hell Gate! It’s one of the few reds that I actually love and recommend.

Duster: Jovonna London

Skirt: Topshop (similar via ASOS here)

Turtleneck: Uniqlo

THE CLCK LUNCH

I finished off my day with an amazing blogger lunch held by The Clck at the Me Hotel London. It’s the perfect spot at fashion week because it’s right next to all the shows! We had the most photogenic lunch, with champagne, amazing views of London and lots of girl gang photo ops! I even got to hang out with some of my favourite bloggers from London and around the world! It was the perfect way to end the day!

How To Dress Like A Cool Girl This Valentine’s Day

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her casual valentines day outfit featuring Muska Greece and Dior

The Ultimate Valentines Day Cool Girl…

Whether you love it or hate it, there is no denying that valentine’s day is here! Regardless of what you might have planned, whether it be a lovely dinner date, drinks with the girls or a picnic in the park, we all ultimately want to look like the coolest girl around right? As much as I love tapping into my inner girly girl, I can’t help but want to put my own little twist on it and Valentine’s Day is no different. After all, we all want to be the ultimate cool girl right? That’s why, this year, I’ve created this cool and casual valentine’s day outfit that you can all rock and still feel amazing in. There’s nothing sexier than a girl who feels really confident in her outfit!

So this year, rather than reaching for my favourite little red dress, I went for my favourite little red pants instead. I love that these are velvet and the fit is so flattering! To add a bit more definition I opted for a skin-tight turtleneck. After all, it’s still freezing here in London! If you wanted to go for something a little sexier, opt for a bodysuit like this one instead. With a valentines day outfit like this, accessories are key! My Dior slingbacks never fail me. Speaking of which, I also found this pair from Dune that are super similar! Sling backs are always a great way to make an outfit more elegant! Also, this amazing statement evil eye clutch really takes the look to a new level! I discovered this brand Muska when I was in Greece last summer and now I already have two! They are super affordable and so unique! The best part is she ships worldwide as well!

So what are your plans this Valentine’s Day? Will you be trying this casual look?

This Is Why You Should Invest In This New Classic Pattern…

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to style a leopard print coat featuring By Malene Birger, Maje and Chanel

The Spots You Want To See…

There are certain patterns that never go out of style. Stripes, checks, and the latest addition to that list is leopard print. Season after season, we see it on the runway, we see it at our favourite high street stores and on our favourite street style stars; there is no escaping leopard print. That’s why you should embrace this print! Trust me, I wasn’t 100% on the bandwagon. In fact, when I met my dear friend Sophie from Silk & Strands some months ago, I was convinced that a print like this, on a coat nonetheless, was not going to suit me! But, what do I always say? It’s all about taking risks and being a little fearless when it comes to your style! I’ve always loved the print, so why not give it a shot!

When I found this jacket from By Malene Birger, I knew I had found the perfect piece to ease me into this pattern. After this, I’ve been all about investing in leopard prints more! From skirts to tops to coats, it’s a pattern I think we should all have in our wardrobes. If you are like me and are initially hesitant about a pattern as bold as this, I have some tips for how to style that leopard print coat, skirt or top you’ve been wanting so badly.

Firstly, be mindful of the other colours you are pairing your leopard with. I would avoid anything too bright and stick to neutral or jewel tones like beiges, blacks, whites or even maroons! The more neutral the colours, the more likely your outfit will stand out in the right way! Secondly, be aware of textures as well. Try to keep other textures to a minimum as I have done here. Other than my leather boots, I really let the jacket do most of the work. Lastly, be confident! The easiest way to pull of a star print like this is to wear it with confidence. Trust me, no one will doubt it, and you can totally rock it!

I’ve linked to some of my favourite leopards print pieces that are available right now. I’ve picked these because I love how luxe they look and would be super easy to style!

How To Upgrade Your Bomber Jacket In 2018

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to style the bomber jacket for 2018 featuring Topshop, Maje and Gucci

The Bomber Jacket is Getting a 2018 Upgrade…

The bomber jacket is a piece that every girl should have in her capsule wardrobe. Time after time, season after season, this one jacket is the key to off-duty style. Since it’s one of my favourites, I happen to have many variations, but today is all about being sporty chic with this particular side stripe bomber jacket. What I love about this piece is that although it has an athleisure vibe to it, it’s so easy to dress it up or down and add some feminine touches. For me, that came in the form of colour. I always find that adding a sense of “chic” to each outfit, elevates any look. That was the idea with this bomber jacket outfit; I went for a totally monochrome pink look! Plus, you guys know that I always love a good pink outfit, like this one here!

Not only did I match the pink of my jacket with the pink in my skirt, I made sure that the sweater underneath was coordinated with the stripes on my bomber jacket. It’s attention to detail that can really make an outfit go from good to great! To really make this outfit street style worthy (while remaining weather appropriate!) I swapped my sneakers for some thigh high boots! That’s how you bring the bomber jacket into 2018!

I’ve never been one for a totally athleisure outfit, that’s why I like to add little bits and pieces that make the trend more me. In this case, it’s colours, but it’s also dainty accessories. These Astrid & Miyu earrings are the perfect everyday piece for any occasion. I love the unique geometric shape! Of course, there is no ignoring my Gucci bee bag! Fun fact: I’m petrified of bees and wasps but somehow I always have accessories that incorporate them!

The Coolest New Colour Combination To Help You Stand Out in 2018…

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite street style colour combination to wear now featuring & Other Stories, Topshop and Chloe

A Street Style Star Proof Outfit…

A lot of us sometimes feel as though we need many stand out pieces to create that stunning outfit. Others feel as though you can only achieve that stand out look with designer pieces. The reality of the situation is that it’s much easier to create that stand out look. All you need to do is reach for colour, and I’m talking about more than one! It’s all about creating the perfect colour combination and today I’m sharing the number one colour combination to make you look like a street style star; blue and green.

What I love about this combination is that it makes such a fashion-forward statement without you having to try very hard. That’s what I love about styling, creating combinations that are easy going, but super fashionable! My outfit is mainly high street as well and the silhouette is so comfortable that I could wear this on the weekend, or on a day of meetings too! I picked up this oversized knit from & Other Stories recently and it’s one of the most fun pieces to style! The blue is so flattering and is sure to suit everyone! I paired it with my favourite green khaki trousers from Topshop, but I wasn’t done there! I couldn’t’ resist adding in my trusty beret, this time in a green too! I told you guys I had them in every colour!

By adding in some accessories, like these beautiful gold hoops from Misho, I was able to really elevate the look. What I love about this colour combination is that you don’t have to put in a lot of effort to look incredibly stylish. I was able to create a standout look with a few basic pieces! If wearing this combination head to toe like I did here is a bit too bold for you, you can even try something like blue jeans, a white sweater and green accessories! (Think scarves, bags, boots even!) Either way, this is one colour combination that will make you feel like the most fashionable girl in the room!

How are you styling blue and green together? Is this something you’ve tried before?

How To Look Stylish and Stay Warm This Winter

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares how to look stylish and stay warm during winter featuring Topshop, Joe's Jeans and Chloe

You Can Stay Stylish and Stay Warm, You Can Have It All…

When the temperature has dropped so low that going outside seems like a nightmare, and the wind makes your ears hurt, you know that you are in the middle of winter. One of the questions I’ve been asked frequently by all of you is, how to look stylish and stay warm when it’s freezing cold outside. Today, I’m going to answer this burning question! I want to show you that you can stay warm and cosy and still look super fashionable; that you really can have it all! There are three key things that will always guarantee comfort and style for your winter looks.

Firstly, it’s all about the coat. Your coat is your best friend when temperatures are sub-zero. It’s the piece that everyone is going to see first and it will dictate first impressions, no matter what you may be wearing underneath. That is why it’s so important to build your coat collection! Don’t be afraid to go for statement pieces that really let your personal style shine through. This could be in terms of texture (think vinyl, shearling or puffer jackets), style (an aviator style is always a quick way to make a statement or a warm tailored coat for a model-off-duty vibe!) or colour! I’ve clearly gone done the colour route and I’m letting my red coat do all the talking! On that note, I know that red can seem like an intimidating colour but when styled right, with classic silhouettes, you can’t go wrong!

Secondly, it’s all about layering. I mean the layers that you can’t see. I can’t do without my Uniqlo heat tech that I wear underneath all my sweaters! It’s those hidden layers that provide extra warmth while letting you look as chic as ever! Thirdly, accessorise! You could be wearing a simple sweater and jeans like I am here, but with the right accessories, you can elevate your look in an instant! I love to play around with my jewellery, especially with large statement earrings that can make a winter outfit so much stylish.

So how will you be staying warm this winter? Do you follow any of these tips?

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite shoes in her shoe collection and how to invest in designer shoes

3 Tips On Building The Most Beautiful Shoe Collection Ever

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!

One of my biggest weaknesses in life is shoes. I literally cannot resist beautiful shoes. After all, it’s in the name, isn’t it? I do love a good pair of sneakers, or heels.. or just shoes in general! A few months ago I gave you guys a little peek into my handbag collection and shared some tips on how to invest in the right handbag. Today I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to build a shoe collection that makes you feel as happy as Carrie Bradshaw! Of course, I’m also going to be sharing some of my favourite shoes with you along the way, who make my most favourite shoes, the most comfortable and the prettiest too! I would say, very much worth the investment!

is Key

Okay, guys here’s a big confession. All you shoe lovers are sure to gasp. I find Louboutins to be incredibly uncomfortable. I get the whole no pain, no gain situation. I know that heels are not always comfortable, especially after a long night but I find Louboutins to be the most uncomfortable. That leads me to my first point. Comfort is key! A pair of shoes can be as beautiful as ever (of course Louboutins are beautiful, You can’t resist that red sole can you)  but if they make you feel horrible after half an hour and ruin your night, they are not worth it. One of my most favourite pairs of heels is from Gianvitto Rossi. They have a spiral strap that goes around your calves. They are the most beautiful heels and also one of my comfiest! I started my night at 8 pm and ended it the next morning at 6:30 AM. I sat down twice for about 15 minutes each and felt no pain! That’s a pair worth investing in.

Fashion blogger Shloka Narang of The Silk Sneaker shares her favourite shoes in her shoe collection and how to invest in designer shoes

Some of my comfiest shoes are from Prada, Dior and Gionvitto Rossi. In terms of sneakers, it doesn’t get better than my Adidas NMD’s or my Charlotte Olympia sneakers.

These shoes may have been bold purchases but I wear them so much because they are so me!

Let Your
Reign

Shoes, much like fashion, are supposed to be fun. Of course, every girl should have a pair of black pumps, a pair of nude pumps, and some kitten heels in her collection. Sneakers are a must as are fancy flats. Once you’ve got the basics down though, don’t be afraid to let your style really shine through. Of course, investing in shoes, especially a designer pair, is a process you should be mindful of. If there is anything worth investing in though it is accessories, and it is an easy way to really let your personality shine through. I recently purchased a pair of flats that are covered in beads and are incredibly colourful. Not something everyone would leap for but they spoke to me and I know I’m going to be wearing them all summer. Much like another pair I have from Sophia Webster. My mother looked horrified when I picked up this pair but they have never failed me and I bring them out every summer because they let me express myself and have fun!

It’s About
Not The Tag

Okay, you’re dreaming about your shoe collection and you’re thinking of all the big names but a luxurious pair of shoes don’t need to be from a huge brand. Some of the best shoes I have are from the high street. For me, luxury is about having the best of something, and that could mean the best fit for my feet, a pair that make me feel great, or just a pair that I’ve been looking for forever. Of course, a pair from Dior or Prada would make me swoon but a good pair from Topshop or ASOS would make me happy too, granted the quality is good and the fit is right! I have a pair of boots I bought from ASOS long before I started my blog. I still wear that pair today (they are a snake skin effect pair, you might have seen them on my Instagram!) They have lasted me over five years. They aren’t a huge label but this pair has lasted me for ages and makes me feel great. That’s a luxury in itself wouldn’t you say?

I love these shoes because you can change the stickers on them according to your mood! How cute right?
